Paula Abdul lost it on 'Live to Dance': Ratings update: Losing even more
Paula Abdul, once the country’s most endearingly irritating ditz on American Idol, presided over the premiere of Live to Dance on Tuesday night with a disappointing amount of calm sanity. A seemingly endless two hours of dancers ranging in age from 9 to 90, Live to Dance was constructed around her background as a dancer and choreographer.
[UPDATE: The series' second episode sank 25% in the ratings with a 1.8 in the 18-49 demo and a third-place finish. Not good.]
What it proved to be, however, was an America’s Got Talent limited to fancy footwork; to a Dancing With the Stars without stars; a So You Think You Can Dance with … well, that’s basically what Live to Dance was: SYTYCD without Cat Deeley, but a lesser host with an accent, the toothy Andrew Gunsberg.

'Saturday Night Live' recap: Jeff Bridges, Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Cookie Monster bring good cheer
At the top of this week’s Saturday Night Live, host Jeff Bridges brought out Cookie Monster to sing a duet on “Silver Bells.” It was refreshingly sweet — how nice to see some unironic amusement.
Most of the time, however, Saturday Night Live seemed to start its holiday vacation early, with a show that consisted of fitful charm, familiar characters and targets, and a series of sketches whose punchlines were telegraphed by their titles. READ FULL STORY »

'Saturday Night Live' with Jeff Bridges, Eminem, and Lil Wayne: Your opinion is desired.
Jeff Bridges is hosting Saturday Night Live this week, with musical guests Eminem and Lil Wayne. As you can see from this promo, Bridges is promoting two movies, TRON: Legacy and True Grit. I think the Coen Brothers joke is funnier than the TRON one:
Bridges seems to be taking his hosting duties seriously enough that he was moved to shave his beard, presumably for maximum facial expressions during sketches:
I assume there’ll be parodies of both films, but I also hope SNL gives Eminem the opportunity to take part in some of the sketches. Em can certainly be poker-faced-amusing when he chooses to be, as he’s proven on SNL before.

'Saturday Night Live' recap: Paul Rudd and Paul McCartney made the little moments count
It was the little things that mattered on this week’s Saturday Night Live. Which is a generous way of saying that in any given sketch, there tended to be a few seconds of amusement to be coaxed out of the material. I’m searching for ways to accentuate the positive here… ah, yes: More use was made of talented rookies such as Vanessa Bayer, Jay Pharoah, Paul Brittain, and (still too briefly) Taran Killam this week.
