Maybe you don’t watch Community. (Seems likely, since this very funny, smart show is getting creamed by Big Bang Theory this season. Read the full post.

Given that Ken Tucker thought Last Man Standing was a hysterical show, it’s hard to take any of his recommendations seriously. However, this was one amazing episode of Community and kudos to the writers and cast.
The thing I love about Community is that they’re willing to mess with your mind. While the vast majority of sitcoms are still riffing off and recycling I Love Lucy plots, Community is going where few sitcoms have dared to go while still making me laugh my head off.
Ken, Thank you for supporting my favorite comedy. But a question: what does “plus a redemption of the Police’s “Roxanne.”” mean? I didn’t know it was in need of redemption.
Couldn’t agree more about tonight’s episode! I’m a diehard fan of the show anyway, but even for me this was one of the best they’ve ever done.
This episode has made me a Community fan. Frakin’ awesome.
I was a fan of the show early on. I’ve stopped watching. It’s become too cute. The characters aren’t appealing and Joel McHale has given up any pretense of acting. Being clever and being entertaining aren’t always the same.
Watched the episode live and loved it. It just had all the best things about Community – the wit, the quirkiness, the unpredictability, the heart (and the emotion didn’t veer into the sentimentality that has occasionally dampened the show). It was clever but didn’t feel self-indulgent. It’s amazing how they could make something so dark so funny – and how they could fit six different storylines into twenty minutes.
I agree that it was a relief that Chang didn’t have a storyline. He’s good in small doses (I appreciated the noir parody they had last week, even if the plot itself was just so-so), but as a central character, he feels sort of obnoxious and aimless.
I haven’t followed a sitcom since Seinfeld – they just are not funny at all.
But Community is aburdly wonderful – thanks Ken for pushing a great show.
oops – absurdly – and absurd over the top humor, too… Jeff is hysterical. I just watched the mini Nato ep where Annie Freaks out. Perfect!
Community is the only show to pull off gimmick episodes as the best episodes of the series. D&D, Halloween/toxic zombies, this episode and paintball, Paintball, PAINTBALL!!! And to make these plots part of the ongoing storylines-gutsy and refreshing. This cast deserves kudos for their chemistry and willingness to do anything. But is anyone else getting a little annoyed with the direction Britta’s character is heading in?
