More 'American Horror Story'

'American Horror Story': It's coming tonight, it's unavoidable, it's...

No new fall TV has left me with more conflicted feelings and thoughts than American Horror Story, the new haunted-house saga from Glee‘s Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.

Which means, among other things, that it must be doing something right: Provocation is a lot better than predictability, and the one thing you cannot accuse Horror Story of being is predictable.

Or maybe you can. I’ve marshaled some of my thoughts on this below:

Come back for a more detailed, dare I say verging on spoilery, review writ in prose later tonight after the premiere airs.

I am looking forward to it. I remember before Glee, with Nip/Tuck. Some of that was very dark and provocative, which i what AHS looks like it will be. Frankly, i think TV needs more if it. Too much PC crap out there, in my opinion.
I mean, hello, remember Millenium? That was great and groundbreaking as well. Of course, it didn
t last long enough. We will see how this does

Nip/Tuck started out great, but devolved into a huge mess after a couple of seasons. It became unwatchable. I hope this show doesn’t follow that pattern.

        My thoughts, too…

I also am looking forward to it. Nip/Tuck I watched every week without fail and hated the ending. Millenium was great while it lasted. As for PC crap, Playboy just got dumped. I expect more new series will follow shortly.

Hey Justin–proud to be a racist, sexist and homophobe?

        @ Mark

        WTF are you talking about?

  • It’s……

…going to run out of steam before the end of the season much like everything else Ryan Murphy has produced.

Could you write an original posting? Why even comment or watch if you are so certain it will fail? Love Ryan Murphy!

    • ML

You are so right. Ryan Murphy has interesting ideas, which is more than I can say for most of Hollywood, but he should turn them over to someone else after the pilot. I loved Nip Tuck but it was a complete mess by its third season. Glee is following the same path.

“American moral rot” is the subtext of all the best horror flicks. Looking forward to the premiere even more now.

I actually can’t wait to watch this, but I am worried because my expectations are so high at this point.

Are the previews for this TV show supposed to evoke unease and fear? Frankly I thought it was a Cirque du Soleil commercial with bad lighting.

    No more Parenthood recaps?

  • Justin

I’m looking forward to Jessica Lange, all of the reviews say she’s a scene stealer.

  • Barbarino

Just watched Jessica Lange’s first scene. She is some fantastically talented actress.

  • Sue

As much as I admire Connie Britton and Jessica Lange, I am going to skip this one. It just looks too depressing and randomly scary.

Re. Nip/Tuck, I watched it for a while but found it very depressing and didn’t like any of the characters.
