I thought it was good, and as you mentioned, character-driven, which makes a better sitcom.

All 3 stars are very likable and are funny. I didn’t laugh much at this episode. 3 Nordic Track jokes? And the f-bombs at the beginning AND end? I might give it another chance because of the stars and the fact not every show has the tone set right away. For example, Parks and Rec started out just OK and became one of the best comedies in its second season.

    I loved it!

i wanted to like it too..but it sucked. it was not funny at all.

I hated the show and don’t have any intentions on watching it again. I get that being new parents is a struggle but I don’t think they did a great job of showing this. I was dumb-founded during the kitchen scene were the Bumbo* is on a kitchen counter with the child in it!!! Clearly safety was ignored for that scene. And even a simple task of changing a diaper is hard when you are hung over. To me it was a show showing stupid things that parents do. Not a comedy at all, and was not at all funny.

LOVED it, it is actually better than the commercials made it out to be. Smart and funny. I think Ken Tucker’s review captured what I thought of the show perfectly.

    rudolph was annoying

  • Hate Arnett

One of the worst shows since the Running Wilde, there must be a link….

  • Its Um

Agreed that it wasn’t that funny but the characters I like, so I’m going to keep watching for awhile.

Didn’t they re-edit it to tone down Maya Rudolph’s character? What was her role previously, “mugging head digitally imposed on top of each frame”? More toning down. More toning down!

Also, shorten and quiet the volume of the bleeping. We get it.

Fantasy premise. No way a woman like Christina Applegate goes for a guy like Will Arnett. She’s beautiful, funny, smart, he’s old, smug, and self deceived. Typical Hollywood casting old men with hotter wives.

MUCH better 2nd show!! cringe-inducing cleverness — i had to pause it like 5 times i was so embarrassed for the characters. But then, i found myself acting like them. heh. and talking like them. heh-heh. — this show is good. go bebes go!

Great article. I can¡¯t wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.
