Great article. I canĄŻt wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.

I find it funny that pbs asks for canadian donations on pledge drives but block canadians from viewing shows on pbs.org. Hmmmm geoblocking come on pbs get it together.

    Fascinating silliness here:
–Following the BBC model? LOL. Yeah like Boehner and those Ebenezer Scrooge type Repubs are going to support a “tax” in the form of a license fee to fund “commie/nazi PBS.

–BBC America unlike its daddy the Beeb, has commercials. In the past, as a result, it CUT Dr. Who.

–Yes in series one of Downton PBS made light edits.

–What Mr. Tucker rather bizarrely elides in this piece is a historical background of PBS funding problems and cuts in that funding by the US’s “backward” and “puritanical” powers that be. Nixon and Agnew (well really their speech writers) made PBS into one of those liberal east coast establishment straw men. Jessie Helms cut PBS’s budget when he saw (or did he only hear about it second hand) Tales of the City.

–PBS used to do drama and even some comedy (Wonderworks, American Playhouse) and was becoming slowly but surely an American version of PBS until it ran up against what should be the real villains of Tucker’s moralistic piece, the right wing hallucinators in the US government.

I remember when there were no fund drives on PBS thanks to sounder funding. I remember when local PBS stations showed Fawlty Towers, Python, Dr. Who, Blake’s 7. Those days golden days are gone, just as they are gone for the CBC which now has advertising to offset, if not entirely cuts by neo-liberal regimes. Perhaps this is PBS’s solution to: adverts.

–I do really hate that Mystery is no longer distinct from Masterpiece. My Thursdays just aren’t the same.

The Daily Mail article claiming that Downton was edited because Yanks couldn’t understand the entail was total fiction. This shouldn’t be surprising given the source.

naturally like your web site but you need to test the spelling on several of your posts. Several of them are rife with spelling problems and I in finding it very bothersome to tell the truth on the other hand I’ll definitely come back again.
