I just want Tim Riggins back!
I, too, was surprised to see Becky, a teenager, serving alcohol, but then I figured that, in a small Texas town, the authorities would not pay much attention to whom was serving the patrons at a strip joint. Also, I believe one of the strippers remarked, during the debate over whether it was appropriate for Becky to work as a waitress, that the regular manager was not on duty. About Julie and Matt, I was quite surprised that Matt took the whole “his 18-year old girl friend had an affair with a married man” thing so calmly and rationally. I doubt many guys would be as understanding; but after Julie’s confession, when Matt went into another room to change his clothes, the expression on his face seemed to me to say that he was not at all thrilled with what Julie had done. Anyone else get the same impression? Also, when Matt chased after Julie as she drove away from his apartment building, and then comforted her and told her that together they would work things out, I sensed that he did this because he was guilty for feeling relieved that Julie was leaving. Am I off base on this? Overall, a very good episode; it felt extra special to have FNL back after it was preempted last week by the Stanley Cup finals.
The best thing about Riggins return is that it will get Becky (the slut, tramp, etc.) away from Luke (who might actually have a chance after Texas). I really relate to his parents.
Texas. What a bunch of trailer trash losers!
Is this what Texas is really like?
how will it get becky away from Luke? Are you assuming that she will now go with Tim, (please NO), or have you seen it already on direct t.v. and know what happens?
Don’t worry. Tim will be fine, and Becky will be fine, but not necessarily in ny icky together way.
I’ve said it before, but the Epyck storyline is the worst in all five seasons of the show… and I’ve finished watching season five on DVD. It goes nowhere, and I was glad when it was dropped, as the show worked on wrapping up all the truly important storylines.
I don’t know about the worse, but it definitely struck me as a rehash of Tammy helping Tyra rise above it all(still better than the Landry and Tyra killing someone story). I think they realized they were running out of episodes to tell the whole story they wanted to tell, hence the need to quickly drop the epyk storyline.
Which is a bummer, because they knew all along exactly how many episdoes they had. “Running out of episodes” seems exactly right with the Epyck thing, and that should not have been the case.
I think the point of the Epyck thing was to show how much Tammy cared and how futile it was in East Dillon. She has a gift but it needs to be brought elsewhere.
I completely agree with regard to Epyk story line. Soooo dumb and random. That is the only bad thing about this otherwise AMAZING show, is their choice of totally random storylines that sometimes don’t even go ANYWHERE. They introduce a story and never come back to it. But I love this show more than any other. Especially the love of my life – Coach Eric Taylor. That man is heavenly! But I cetainly wouldn’t turn away hunky Tim Riggins or sensitive Matt Seresin. Love, Love, Love this show. I will miss it desperately.
I just finished the first season on Netflix. I liked, mostly. I’ve been unable to get past the first two episodes of season 2. The whole murder and dump the body thing buy
I KNOW!!!!!! That was like their big cliff hanger story…huge…major…and then…poof…it’s over and allis well. One of the major downfalls of the show!
Season 2 is a bit disappointing, I will agree. Push on thru it, however- because it gets better!
We like Friday Night Lights, because it is indicative of real problems with real people. It is very to similar to what happens in small towns across America. From the NYT to Wall St Journal to San Francisco Bay Area papers, FNL is by far one of the greatest TV programs of all times. I have seen many blogs & writters from various area in the country write their disappointment that the show was cancelled. The NBC Peacock continues to loose her feathers because of poor judgment by the network. NBC has done everything possible to turn viewship away, from the irregular scheduling of FNL and finnaly cancellation. However, if everyone remembers, last year so many came to the rescue so that FNL was continued in a partership with NBC & Direct TV. Too bad that somewhere, or someone did not see the value and purchase FNL in order to continue the wonderful sage of small town communities fighting for the best life has to
offer. Many of us will forever hold Friday Night Lights and the cast forever in our hearts.
