Given how game Gaga was in her sketches, anyone wanna bet that she’ll be a guest host next season?

    • James

      No question.

    • True Blue

I’d really love for that to happen. She has natural comedic timing. I honestly didn’t think she could be this funny.

  • riv

Fabulous show! Barry Gibb (Fallon)sketch..LOL Hader as the old newsman his comedy timing always on mark. JT and Gaga great team. JT never disappoint his SNL fans.

    • Pipan

Agreed, Bill Hader is a genius when it comes to live comedy and comedic timing. He’s one funny dude. A total pro.

      • Ivee

Bill Hader is wonderful. He may be the lifeblood of the current cast. I sure hope he’ll be back next year.

      • Squishmar

Yes, so the inevitable backlash can start against him.

  • Just Me

I must say Lady Gaga was pretty good. The show was great. She looked hot in the digital short.

    • Jim

Agree. Gaga looked really hot in the digital short. Not so much on the live show.

  • Steve

Hey does anyone know the names of the songs that Justin Parodys during the beer bottle skit? I am old and not up on my Hip Hop. Thanks!

    • Molly

      Let’s see…
First was Rude Boy by Rihanna

    • Molly

Not sure about 2nd song but 3rd was
Tipsy by J-Kwon then Airplanes by B.O.B., then Low by Flo rida, then endless love

    • Dj

Another was “All I Do Is Win” by DJ Khaled

  • 70’s Child

    JT rocked it!!! Loved him.

Gaga “singing” to a back up track is still Gaga lip synching. She messed it up a couple of times, in both performances. It was like she chose the performance over the singing. I was disappointed, I thought she had the ability to do both. ?

    • Just Me

Singing to a back up track is no different from having back up singers. And gaga does not need to depend on the track as other artist do, as you could tell from Edge of Glory.

    • Kevin

Ok, for like a second in Judas she can catch her breath from Dancing and singing and you hear her background vocals. But to even say she was not singing live means you were not even trying to listen to her SING LIVE!

      • 70’s Child

I WAS listening/watching closely because I could tell she was off and couldn’t believe it. Fan reality is sometimes different than actual reality. I understand that. No biggie, it’s not the rapture or anything. Just my opinion.

    • Sara

Lip-syncing and singing with a back up track are no where near the same thing. It seemed to me that dancers pretty much filled up what appeared to be a tiny stage. Where would back up singers even stand.

      • Kelly

        At least she didn’t do a hoe-down. :P

    • andrfig

      Lady Gaga doesn’t lip synch.
Singing to a backtrack is not the same especially considering she was singing and dancing on key and you could hear her catching her breath.
And are you going to tell me that he at the piano was lip synching too?
If there is anything Lady Gaga can do, it’s perform. And she knocked it out of the ballpark last night.

      • 70’s Child

You could hear Gaga on the backtrack when her mouth wasn’t even moving. And yea, her “performance” was great. It’s not just backup singers when her voice is one of the ones on the recording.

      • Peg

You could hear her get very nasally when she was getting the prostetic on during born this way, no way she was lip synching, no, she wasn’t singing multiple parts, no living human can do that, it’s impossible. She sang the “lead” and she backed herself up on a back track.

      • WVL

        At least she didn’t do a ho-down! :P

    • sam

I don’t think that she messed anything up–I think that she mixes it up to show that she is actually singing, which she is. A background track is necessary because they can’t duplicate the music. That is why she did the song at the piano.

It is a freaking nuisance to have to go HMA in order to watch HULU outside the US.
I’m a retired American living in Costa Rica. There are plenty of video providers that do not have such stupid regulations as HULU does.

    • Mitch Logan

They only paid for the US rights. Should they steal from someone else who bought the Costa Rican rights?

  • jfms777

JT was good, as usual. But Gaga was the surprise. She hit it right each time.

    • Chellou

I have to say, my SIL has me hokeod on your blog – your sense of humor make me cry, it's like you crawled in my head or something! I LOVE THIS BLOG!And, all these fashion blogs I've been checkin out have me inspired to do my own fashion posts – as a Momma who just had #3 I need to stay on my game…and that means NOT giving in to the pressure to buy a Mini van and of course – making sure the only people who see my Chocha are the Hubby and the Midwife!

  • LOL

    Gaga for the win!

  • ZakJ

Having watched snl for over 20 years now, I found the most disappointing thing about this episode was that except for the opening sketch, EVERY OTHER SKETCH WAS A REHASH. It doesn’t mean some of them aren’t funny, but REALLY! Some of the best snl sketches are the original ones! This has been a problem all season (a lackluster one), and I hope the producers recognize the lack of creativity amongst the writers. Time for a change!

    • Kelly

When you criticize the writers, you’re criticizing Seth Meyers. He’s the Head Writer. (He and Tina Fey were the co-head writers when she was there.)

  • Alex

“I’m afraid Fallon went over-the-top early on in this sketch and stayed there for too long.”

Surprising. He’s usually so reserved in that sketch.

    • Ann

Haha, yes Alex…that is why the sketch is so funny! Duh. Jimmy is great!!

    • Hulk

I TOTALLY agree with your comment, Alex. I was saying the exact same thing as I watched it. And I’m normally a huge fan of Jimmy’s and that sketch.

      • Squishmar

        Alex was being sarcastic.

    • Janayna

  • DC

Finally… a good show. JT needs to be contracted to host at least five times a year and agree that Jimmy Fallon has to come back… miss him on the show! Weekend Update was never as funny as when Jimmy and Tina co-hosted.

    • Bullseye

I agree with you. JT is the greatest host. Wow, is he talented!

  • Me

I thought last night was really good. Love it when JT hosts. I don’t find Herb Welch stale at all. Gaga, not a Gaga fan but I did enjoy watching Mark from SYTYCD as one of her dancers.

    • Townline

Yeah, Herb Welch cracks me up every time. Bill Hader is terrific!

      • Tracy Flick

I think everyone has a Herb Welch in their local broadcasting area.

      • Ana

Hands down best overall show of the season. I could take or leave Lady Gaga or Justin Timberlake before Saturday Night Live but now am a fan. I didn’t know Lady Gaga was such a talented singer, pianist and actress too. And never realized what a doll Bradley Cooper is! Bill Hader was the best. Not a fan of the opening skit.

    • jt

I disagree. Anne Hathaway’s SNL hosted episode is the best of this tv season

      • LOL

I’m sure Anne will be back next year. She’s been fantastic both times she’s hosted so far.

  • Kansan

I thought the cold open was very offensive on a few different levels. The show got better with the bottle sketch and the name game. That other game show sketch (I think it was called Password) was awful and awkward. Time for the writers to give up on this one.

    • Kelly

Uh, Kansan, it’s SUPPOSED to be offensive. It’s SNL. Haha. Loosen up. But, yes, the Password parody has to go. It’s awful.

    • Ploy

I have been surfing onnlie more than 3 hours as of late, but I never discovered any fascinating article like yours. It is lovely price sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all web owners and bloggers made good content as you probably did, the net can be much more helpful than ever before. No nation was ever ruined by trade. by Benjamin Franklin.

  • Jim

Loved JT and the show. I think it’s time to retire GAME SHOW parodies in general…two in one night….a bit much if you ask me. What about a recurring set of characters like the Coneheads, or a truly fun character like Debbie Downer. While JT and Gaga were great, I think the current cast lacks depth to create comedic characters people want to see again, hence the overuse of game show and talk show parodies. How about SNL going back to being ORIGINAL!
