Wake up and smell the coffee. TV is a make believe machine and Letterman is MVP of make believe- nothing more nothing less. Trump is also. Obama is also. It is curious that a former midwest yokel/now transplanted snarky New York darling considers himself the yardstick of who is or is not racist. Really?

    DaU,
Just look at yourself before calling someone else one!

Look like you having a hard time get over the phenomenon!

Racism has no place in a civil society. Trump is many things but I’d hope being a racist wasn’t one of them…i guess i was wrong.

Mike is correct: the subject of where Obama was born would never have arisen had he been white. In addition to his other qualifications, I believe that Obama was on Law Review at Harvard, which requires the highest level of qualifications as well as a lot of hard work. The people who are questioning his qualifications will never be satisfied. And sadly, with the 2008 economic collapse and the wars dumped in his lap, he may never be able to achieve his potential.

Here’s a litmus test to dermine what Trump’s true feelings are: Ask him if he agreed with Sally Kern’s recent comments. If he says yes, we’ll all know that his criticisms of President Obama are due to something other than his policies….

The whole birtherism started with the Clintons

Both Trump and his sons are racist- otherwise his sons would have the balls to admit that their father is a rich piece of shit- not unlike that idiot bounty hunter Dawg

  • tg

What Trump and his ilk are doing is most definitely racism at its ugliest. If Obama’s name and color were different there’d be none of this ridiculousness.

    • Nancy

      Really? Prove it.

      • Pillow Pants

How? Dye Obama and change his name? Easier to look back in history at every other time this issue came up. Oh, that’s right. Never.

      • SteverB

What a stupid thing to write, Nancy. Shall we take YOUR time machine to go back and find out? Oh no, we don’t need to; look at the history of racism in this country… same old… same old.

  • neena

Bravo, Letterman! Enough of the stupidity of people like Trump. I have no use for low-lifes like him.

  • Worryt

Donald Trump is an idiot, RACIST and all African American, Any black man in America and all over the world should boycott all his STUPID and useless TV craps, how many hotels does jackass Trump has outside the US?, anyway he wouldn’t own/Bank own hotels in US if he is not a Whitman and by way which IVY league school does Jackass Trump go to? what a scumbag Trump truly is.

  • Flex

Pure racism. Trump barely finished congratulating himself for bringing up the birther issue, before starting this new attack. Typical hijacking of the dialogue while the economy and the world goes down the drink. Welcome to the moral low ground.

It is only racist when a conservative challenges a liberal on anything. The same words from a liberal or Democrat would be acceptable. Where is Littermans apology demand when the media paid homage to the Bush 911 conspiracy? I will never watch the letter trash show again.

I never got this whole deal with the birth certificate anyway. If you have a parent who has a U.S. citizen you are a U.S. citizen regardless of where you’re born. His mom was a citizen so he was, no birth certificate needed (unless they thought his mom was lying about being his mom)

You have to have been born IN the United States to be President. Simply being born of an American President is not enough. My husband is American, I am Canadian, my son was born here in Toronto, Canada. Even tho he has dual citizenship (US/Canada) he can never be President. Gawd knows he’s smart enough tho! ;o)

      • glammie

Sorry … simply being born of an American parent (not President) isn’t enough.

      • Aly

My dad was German,I was born in Germany but I was still an American citizen at birth and do not have dual citizenship, nor have I ever. I’m guessing there’s more to your story. The fact that your son has allegiance to two countries might be part of the problem. But it’s all moot to this argument since Obama was born on American soil.

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_Born_Citizen_Clause

People have to prove they are eligible to run in the first place. People questioning him were just grasping and straws and trying to stir up fear and distrust. They know he’s a citizen, but they also know there’s some stupid people that will believe anything if it suits them so they are feeding upon that.

      • Lo

Not entirely true either. The Natural Born Citizen law is still interpreted different ways. John McCain’s citizenship was called into question because he was born in Panama, but I think it’s considered US soil because it was a military base.

  • Mr. T

The subject of Obama’s birth began at his birth. The question that Trumps raises is one of fact and verification. For the liberally inclined, it is not a question of faith or morality and should not be confused with racism. The fact that he chose not to reveal the documents speaks volumes about his need to divert attention away from his failed policies. Similar in many respects to his forgotten history in Chicago and his currently forgotten promises. Enough.

Just when I thought that I couldn’t love Dave any more than I already do, he steps up again.
