The best show in years. Elton is like a new Benny Hill, he has comic acting talent, a leap above the “Absolutely Fabulous” episode he did, and he has a future in this field, hopefully (how did they think to have him host, I wonder?). I agree with the commenter, they should have more English hosts. Englishness is always so refreshing to this American tv viewer. I suspect reactions to this one may break down along sexual preference lines, the reactions are just so opposite here. That and perhaps the Anglophile angle. I thought the writing was sharper than usual, I wondered if they had new writers.
Reactions are *always* divided here. And it’s funny to see one person say how they loved this sketch but hated these other two sketches and then further down, someone states the exact opposite. That’s the point. Nobody is ever going to love everything. But to people like Betty, above, who say it should “ride off into the sunset”…. what would it be replaced with? A mediocre movie from seven years ago? Come on, what else is on Saturday night on network tv?
Agree. Remember SNL has been around for over 35 years. Where else can a viewer find a show that sends up both American culture and politics with guest hosts and musicians.
Elton was mostly cringe-worthy. Best part of the show was Tom Hanks as Michael Caine.

Why were there so many uncredited cameos? Did they think he couldn’t carry a show? I am not sure they were all ackowledged at the end because the network cutoff the godbyes.
After years of NOT watching SNL, I turned on to watch Elton John, and I have to say as a woman and mother I was offended by Mr. John’s comment on his son rejecting the breast. Yeah, yeah all of you say but its humor, for who? Gays.
I have been a long time fan of Elton John but I think he has gone off the deep end. The breast, as he refers to it, as well as a uterus, are the life giving forces for males and females, too bad in his desire to have it all, he has found the need to deceive and put down the very things that have provided for life and will continue to do so. Already I see a bias in teaching his son the breast is something to reject. Where are the feminist? Maybe had he talked about lubrication products???
