The View is only about making headines for juicy, scandalous conflicts. What a farce.

  • Mark

My favorite moment of the segment by far was Donald saying “Your good friend Star Jones,” or something along those lines and Barbara’s completely stoic expression. Such bad blood there.

    • harry

      so true!!!

  • anikitty

Even if for some reason Obama was born out of the country, that does not mean he’s not an American citizen. His mother is American, therefore he is American. Are there any complaints about babies born while thier parents are living on American military bases oversees?

    • TM

Didn’t something like this come up with John McCain? Now let’s all get back to the economy and war and other real issues. Or this season’s American Idol.

    • bh

If he’s a US citizen, what’s the problem?

      • Kevin

he has to be born in the US

      • SC

No, he doesn’t. He just has to be at birth a US citizen. But he was born in the US anyway.

    • Brandon

I think military bases are technically considered American soil. Plus the level of standards between a regular citizen and one that becomes President are a little different so you probably wouldn’t see a lot of complaints about Joe Blow walking down the street…

      • @Brandon

No, the standards aren’t different for citizenship for presidents compared to other citizens. You are either a citizen from birth, or you are a foreign citizen who becomes a naturalized American citizen.

    • Richard

@SC you are a complete idiot. Do the words “natural born citizen” sound familiar possibly covered in some type of class? please google it you are what is wrong with America you could be on the “jay-walking” segment, you are that dumb. Yes Obama was born in Hawaii I don’t doubt that for a second but for someone to say “his mom is a US citizen so he can be president” you should be forced to leave the country since you don’t care enough to learn the constitution.

      • @Richard

Actually Richard, my son was born in Germany, and he is eligible to run for president. I know this, not because I googled it, then chose whatever site agreed with my opinion as evidence. I know this because I went to the U.S. Consulate after his birth, filled out the correct paper work, had all my documents confirming my American Citizenship scrutinized, then received his passport and his Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America. Along with the certificate we received a letter stating that it constitutes evidence of our child acquired U.S. citizenship at birth. According to the consulate and U.S. constitutional law he is eligible to run for president. My husband was working for a German company, and neither my husband nor I were affiliated or working in any capacity for the U.S. military. Someday my son may run for president, and perhaps someone who disagrees with his political views, or has another more vicious motive, may question his citizenship. However, in the end, it won’t matter because he has all the proper documents according to the government of the United States of America. Just as Obama’s Certificate of Live Birth is proof enough his citizenship. Richard, your over the top reaction to SC is ironic considering you denigrate them for not caring enough to learn the constitution. A little more research into the matter before you posted your belittling reply might have been wise.

      • LOL

        Richard,
please leave the country since you don’t care enough to learn the constitution yet lecture others on it.

  • April

These people really need to move on. We are coming up on another campaign season that is sure to be the awfully played up in the media and they are still stuck on this?

    • Brandon

Well if we’re being honest, I doubt we’d hear much about it if liberal journalists didn’t keep asking it to people.

  • Heidi

LOVE, LOVE Donald Trump AND Whoopie too………. Both good actors….. (wink)

  • Ron

I have a birth certificate and if I lose it, I can get another official certificate from the bureau of vital statistics. Too bad our president doesn’t have access to those governmental agencies. We have been lied to and the syncophants that grovel at his feet are the ones who are wrong. Racism is based on racial motives. This is based on constitutional requirements.

    • mikeyb

Want to see it? Go to Hawaii or just view it online here at factcheck.org http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html

    • TM

Which have been satisfied. That people keep bleating on about it says racism.

      • Ron

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie suggested in an interview published 1/18/2011
that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health.

Still questionable. And the fact that it is still questionable and that the citizenry and governmental official are unconvinced, does not make it racist. It makes it constitutionally questionable, regardless of race.

      • Wardrick

What does “Constitutionally questionable” even mean? You just make up phrases that you feel work to fuel your silly agenda?

Typical right-wing tactic these days: Use the word “constitution” until you’re blue in the face, despite knowing almost nothing about The Constitution.

And, FYI, Abercrombie never said that. You either just made it up or chose to believe it. Go to Snopes.com where it has been proven that Abercrombie has always defended Obama’s BC.

    • jenkay

      Exactly!!

    • BlackIrish4094

      OK nutter…

    • sarajames2

The birth certificate has been HAS shown.

      THE CERTIFICATE HAS BEEN SHOWN.

      THE CERTIFICATE HAS BEEN SHOWN.

      THE CERTIFICATE HAS BEEN SHOWN.

      THE CERTIFICATE HAS BEEN SHOWN.

NOW I SOUND JUST AS STUPID AS YOU PEOPLE WHO CONTINUE ASKING OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER WHY OBAMA DOES NOT SHOW IT.

ALSO THE GOVERNOR OF HAWAII HAS SAID THAT IF ANY ONE IN AMERICA WANTS A COPY THEY CAN HAVE ONE FOR A $10.00 FEE.

SO BRANDON AND OTHERS YOUR PROBLEM IS SOLVED. SEND FOR FOR A COPY!!!!

OH AND WHAT DO YOU SAY NOW, YOU WANT ONLY THE ORIGINAL COPY RIGHT????

NOW DO YOU SEE HOW RIDICULOUS YOU SOUND???

      • Dell

That’s is lame you cannot randomly
        order a birth certificate unless
        you are immediate relative.

      • Ronald Hagler

STOP USING ALL CAPS, THIS IS THE TRUE SIGN OF A MORON…

First you have to understand the issue, which most of you do not. The question is not IF he has a birth certificate (he does), it is whether or not that certificate is legal and here are the facts…

Obama is “not legally a U.S. natural-born citizen under to the law on the books at the time of his birth…”. According to the poster, if only one parent was a U.S. citizen at the time of birth, the citizen-parent “must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16.” Obama’s father, of course, was not an American citizen, having been born in Kenya. That leaves his mother, who was a natural-born citizen, but who was only 18 when Obama was born, on August 4, 1961. In the poster’s opinion, Obama fails the constitutional test because his citizen-mother had not resided in the U.S. for five years after the age of 16–not old enough, at the time of Obama’s birth, “to qualify her son for automatic U.S. citizenship.”….
To the Question about John McCane:
Nevertheless, senators from both parties (Patrick Leahy and Tom Coburn) and constitutional scholars of the left and right (Lawrence Tribe and Theodore Olsen) examined the law and the facts and announced that McCain, who was born to American parents in a U.S. naval hospital in the U.S.-administered Panama Canal Zone, met the Second Amendment’s requirement that a president must be a “natural-born citizen.”
And all of you, who call anyone that challenges the president a racist, are all IDIOTS and do not understand the Constitution or any principal on which this country was founded.

    • Tex

I couldn’t find where the Constitution says that the birth certificate has to be the long form as opposed to the short one. Anyone?

  • Makeith

It’s a amazing that this question is still floating around even after the Governor of Hawaii came out and verified that they do have Obama’s Birth Certificate on record or the fact that you would at least acknowledge that the US would do a thorough enough background check before even allowing him to run. How stupid can you be to think that he wasn’t born in the US. And even with all that, he’s the president now, get over it already!

  • mikeman

birthers are the worst thing to happen to the conservative movement in decades.

    • Tex

Yep, birthers and baggers are the bomb.

  • B Layne

Personally, I don’t care what the liberal women on The View have to say. More power to Mr. Trump and I hope he holds fast on making Obama show his cards. Finally someone has the gonads to stand up to him and tell him what most of America wants to hear. God Speed Donald Trump. We’re behind you all the way to the Whitehouse! Our country is going to he– and if someone doesn’t step up and do something, ‘like yesterday’, we’re all going to regret it, even The View Liberals with the exception of Elizabeth. I’m tired of their santified liberalist cr–, and I think their professionalism is lacking because they are rude when a guest wants to speak. When will they, and I include Barbara Walters, learn to keep their mouths shut when someone speaks. It’s insulting to everyone tuning in.

    • bgee

      ditto, B Layne!!!!

    • Prunella Von Schleidlhaagen

What on earth is “santified liberalist”?

    • TM

Someone missed the most recent appearance of Kathy Griffin when Elizabeth Hasselbeck behaved terribly

    • mikeyb

What most Americans ‘want’ to hear has little to do with reality. Truth is corporations are what is ruining this country, exporting our jobs, exploiting our resources, and our military so we can exploit the resources of other countries. Republicorp is destroying the middle class in their sole quest for bigger and bigger profits, bailing out banks while stripping away the rights of public workers (the last decent paying jobs in the US). Trump is more of that same problem. The US is not a business it’s people and people need to come first.

      • TM

Either way, most Americans don’t care about birther nonsense.

      • Brandon

Haha. How does that describe Republicans? If anything it would much more fit Obama and the Democrats. We’re running $Trillion+ deficits under Obama the last 3 years.

      • Vince from NYC

Brandon, I think Mikeyb was trying to make teh point that it doesn’t matter which party is in control, that big business runs the country. The sad part is that he’s right. Neither side cares about what’s good for teh people, but rather what’s good for the party.

    • BlackIrish4094

Most of America does not want to hear it, just nuts like you and the additional chorus of voices in your heads.

    • SoSad69

Dumbest post of the week. Trump is as a big a moron as you are. Love how people on the right say everyone is wrong when it’s not fitting into their agenda. Trump parroting the birther question is not something to be respected. it’s something that needs to be stomped out. Propagating this dumb ass idea that somehow Obama is different. The name sounds foreign so he’s bad. Or he grew up in Hawaii and spent some time overseas so he’s different. He wasn’t a baseball player that was an eagle scout. The entire idea that he is somehow different than us and should be vilified. People that subscribe to that should be ashamed of themselves. Sure, be against his policies based on the merit and not because he’s black and has a muslim sounding name. His being a member of a church that had a radical pastor (reverend wright)but people forget that. they’re saying now he’s a closet Muslim.

I don’t agree with a number of his policies but as a person and a leader he’s light years better than anything we’ve had in the last 8 years. Clinton and Obama are the two best things to happen to america in the last 50 years. Two worst is Reagan and Bush Jr. Reagan took us from a creditor nation to a debtor nation. Also tipped our debt to over a trillion for the first time. Bush Sr and Jr exploded the debt. 10.7 Trillion in Debt by three republican presidents. That’s what people should be angry about. Not some not so mysterious birth certificate that’s been on display for years.

  • Lisa

He already did produce his birth certificate. The State of Hawaii confirmed it as well. I don’t understand why people are still bickering about the birth certificat

    http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html

    • Ron

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie suggested in an interview published 01/18/2011 that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health.

Abercrombie told the Honolulu Star Advertiser he was searching within the Hawaii Department of Health to find definitive vital records that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii, because the continuing eligibility controversy could hurt the president’s chances of re-election in 2012.

  • Courtney

Come on, people. Grow up and wise up. There are very real problems our country faces – Obama’s birth certificate is not one of them.

    • Ronald Hagler

i consider that having a president not is not a U.S. citizen to be a very real problem. And by the way, the question is not whether he has a birthcertificate or not, the issue is if that certificate is legal or not

  • B Layne

Why does Obama think he has the right to fire on Libya when Congress has not spoken. Is it time for Impeachment? Maybe it’s past due. Firing on Libya could be one of the worst mistakes he’s made. Obviously he has forgotten about Lockerbee. American’s haven’t forgotten about this. He’s playing with fire, and without the authorization of the American people. When will our ‘so called President of the USA learn that he needs to go thru appropriate channels before he does anything?
We don’t have the money to go into another country and start war. What doesn’t he understand? Is he going to pay for this out of his pocket, as well as the billions of dollars he’s wasted traveling around in Air Force One and his wifie in Air Force Two, and the billions of dollars in jet fuel that has to fly with him. He’s not fooling American’s. He’s using us and we’re not happy. Getting us further and further into debt and wasting money is not the kind of president we want or deserve. Shame on him and all concerned who support him. Shame, shame, shame.

    • Tex

      Partisan much?

  • B Layne

Asking to see our presidents Birth Certificate is not at all raciest. It’s a matter of principle as we’ve always known where our presidents were birthed. We have no clue where Obama came from. It was as if he was dropped by a stork, from KENYA! Hopefully those women on The View understand the differences. If not, maybe they need to find another JOB. Such ignorance makes me want to stop watching The View, and watch The Talk. At least they have enough sense not to discuss their “views” on politics. This might save them.

    • mikeyb

Just because you choose not to believe the proof doesn’t make it any less true. Here’s the proof… http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html

      • Ronald Hagler

Just posting a webpage does not constitute proof. Constitutional law is were the proof is derived.

And all of you, who call anyone that challenges the president a racist, are all IDIOTS and do not understand the Constitution or any principal on which this country was founded.

    • Ap

Yes you do know where he came from. You just choose not to believe it.

      • cb

Yep…Africa. I just try not to admit it to myself.

    • Kw

You know how in presidential candidate biographies, it’ll say something like “George W. Bush was born in Connecticut” or “Bill Clinton was born in Arkansas”? Well, that’s all the evidence any random member of the public apparently needed for them. Yet reading “Barack Obama was born in Hawaii” is somehow not enough information for a few people who can’t be bothered to try broadening their worldview and accepting that their way is not the only well-intentioned and intelligent way of doing things. The way you claim we have no idea where Obama came from, and your emphasis on Kenya, is a little bit scary but mostly incredibly sad. Get used to American multi-culturalism, because there’s pretty much a 100% chance that within a few generations, your descendents will be a very complex mix of nationalities and races. That’s right, your great-great-grandkids could totally have black African blood in them! THE HORROR.

      • plz

        Ahhhh!!! LOL.

  • moira

Certainly not a Donald Trump fan, but Whoopi Goldberg is the person who thinks that if a grown man drugs and has non-consensual anal sex with a 13 year old minor it’s not really rape-rape.

  • Kim

Hilary would have exposed Barrack long ago.

    • sarahH

      Yep pretty much.
