I’m still watching based on the potential I saw in the pilot. She was a lot funnier in that show. I keep hoping for the humor and less of the liberal chest thumping.
Two words: TYNE DALY. Kathy Bates is a good actress, but if the show featured Tyne Daly in the lead roll, and was just slightly reworked, it’d be great.
Excellent. Tyne Daly would be perfect. She has the ability to act flustered and inept outwardly while solving the problem internally. Remember her Dirty Harry movie? Nuf said!
I can see why people like the show – good actors, 70s throwback plots. but it’s incredibly condescending. DEK really has a tin ear – “In the Ghetto” indeed. Made me cringe for him.
I really like this show. I like the people in the show, I like the stories and I think this reviewer needs to get over yourself. Sometimes, TV can be entertaining just for the sake of being entertaining. If you don’t like it, don’t watch. I’m enjoying the fact that it’s not reality TV, it’s not a teeny-bopper little show and it doesn’t feel the need to follow the same boring typecast of every other show.
Well this show routinely makes me cringe but so does all of David E. Kelly’s shows so I expected it. I do hate all the gang banger story lines but hey that is what white america knows about black america so I am hardly surprised. Minorities are either gang banging hookers or ignored in the television landscape.
A much much better show dealing with lawyers that at times looks like “it was filmed on a cheap studio set”: DAMAGES (For the most part, it does well to conceal its budgest constraints.)
This is one of my fav shows this season.
I like the quirkiness of the characters. I loved when they showed the slow motion of the kid falling on Harry and then Harry being hit by the car and landing on the matress.
I really like Harry’s Law, it’s one of my new favorites.
It is bad. Completely ridiculous and condescending.
Has a dancing baby appeared yet?
OH SHUT UP- Why’d you even write the article? If you don’t like it- fine. Whatever. Get over Boston Legal. It’s over. Not coming back. It’s not really even in the same vein as Boston Legal- there are similarities- yes; but geez… way to be a negative nancy, ken.
Why did he write the article? Because he’s a TV critic. It’s his job.
It isnt the best show in the world and it can get cheezy but i still like it!
It’s entertaining fluff. Sometimes you need that on a Monday night. Nothing more, nothing less … and Kathy Bates is a likable, capable actress. I’d give it a 6 out of 10.
Yes, but we already have “Castle” in the same time slot for that. And it’s a much better show, based on the two episodes of “Harry’s Law” that I’ve seen.
I don’t know. I like it. I am giving it time, if it comes back in September they might improve the tone of the show and quality. But so far, it still is humourous and enjoyable. Is it Mad Men, or West Wing Emmy bait, no but it’s fun. And Kathy Bates is enjoyable and all the characters are finding thir nitch. We’ll see if it continues. I have seen worth shows.
