'The Good Wife' recap: Michael J. Fox returned: A pest with pesticides?

Having established Michael J. Fox’s lawyer Louis Canning in an earlier episode as a wily, cynical man, The Good Wife this week did what it does best: It added complexity, ambiguity, and new details to make a character richly surprising.

Oh, and Derrick Bond tried to confound, enrich, and screw over the Lockhart, Gardner firm, and emerged as a full-fledged villain… or is he? With The Good Wife, ya never know. READ FULL STORY »

'How I Met Your Mother' review: Katy Perry was a Honey, and Jennifer Morrison just as sweet

Katy Perry may have been the guest-star attraction on this week’s How I Met Your Mother, but this nicely intricate episode shifted the focus away from her to focus on Jennifer Morrison’s recurring Zoey.

Indeed, Perry was used as bait for both viewers and the show’s characters. READ FULL STORY »

'The Chicago Code' premiere review: Did the Super Bowl promos inspire you to watch it?

Categories: Dramas, Television, TV Review

After Fox ran what seemed like 528 promotional spots for The Chicago Code during the Super Bowl, you knew at least two things about the new series before it premiered Monday night: Jennifer Beals can employ a tough-person voice in saying, “This is my city now!” and you knew some guy was going to snarl, “You think you can change how things get done… in Chicago??!!!” So going in, you could assume that this was one of those “gritty,” “dark,” “real” cop shows, right? 'Glee' Super Bowl episode review: Intentionally over-the-top, in a good or a bad way?

How better to complement the garish spectacle that is the Super Bowl than with a Glee that did its best to be more garish, more aggressive, more competitive than the football game itself? The episode titled “The Sue Sylvester Shuffle” pitted the glee club against McKinley High School’s football team… in an effort, as the show proceeded, to bring them together and make peace with each other. Bill O'Reilly interviews President Obama before the Super Bowl: 'Does it disturb you that so many people hate you?'

The Fox network used its broadcast of the Super Bowl to bring in Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly to interview President Barack Obama. O’Reilly pressed Obama on Egypt and health care in particular.

Regarding Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak and his planned departure, Obama said, “Only he knows what he’s going to do… The Egyptian people want freedom, and free and fair elections, Bill.”

O’Reilly said he was going to ask Obama the same question he asked his predecessor, George Bush: “Does it disturb you that so many people hate you?” READ FULL STORY »

'Fringe' recap: Jellyfish and lipstick

Filled with clues, jokes, poignancy, and lipstick, “Concentrate and Ask Again,” this week’s episode of Fringe, can be viewed as completing a trilogy of episodes that bring together a lot of the show’s mythology. “The Firefly” brought the Observers back; “Reciprocity” was a fairly massive Massive Dynamic info-dump; and this week we learned more about Nina Sharp and the Cortexiphan drug trials. What tied them all these together? The doomsday device, and Peter and Olivia’s connections to it. READ FULL STORY »

'CSI' review: William Petersen's Gil Grissom returned to liven up this show: VIDEO

CSI began this week with a tease: Jorja Fox’s Sara Sidle at a benefit for a foundation for the deaf, received a call from her hubby, William Petersen’s Gil Grissom. Ah, how nice it was to hear Grissom’s familiar rasp, even distorted through a smartphone. “I’m still in Peru,” he said — he’d miss the function, which was attended by his mother (Phyllis Frelich), a guest star (Marlee Matlin), and … surprise!: a death. By the end of the hour, we were granted a glimpse of the much-missed Gil. READ FULL STORY »

The final, fifth season of Friday Night Lights will begin airing on NBC on Apr. 15, but over on DirecTV, we’ve already arrived at the series’ penultimate episode, which aired last night.
