Dana Carvey will host Saturday Night Live this week (it will be his fourth time as host), with music guest Linkin Park. They’re ready to, y’know, pump you up:
I’m guessing we’ll be seeing the Church Lady, and some variation on “Wayne’s World,” right?
Beyond Carvey, what subjects do you think SNL will use for material this week? How will the show deal with the violence that has erupted in Egypt? (Will Fred Armisen get away with another Hosni Mubarak impersonation?)
Comment away below, please.
Then come back to EW.com on Sunday morning, for a piping-hot, fresh review of the show.

I hope to see some Massive Head Wound Harry. Hopefully SNL will play towards Carvey’s character acting and add some variety into the mix.
It’s gonna rock. Carvey has been on fire on recent talk shows (Fallon and Letterman). He seems as energetic as ever. Hopefully the writing won’t let him down.
Hope Carvey brings back Church Lady and after needling his guest sufficiently, he changes the punch line to, “Hmm, who could it be? Could it be, um, could it be….PALIN?!?!”
I wasn’t even alive when Dana was a cast member, but so far, this is by far the best episode of the season. The writers (for the first time in a while) did a great job of mixing current pop culture (Snooki and Bieber) with classics (Church Chat and Wayne’s World). This makes me wish that SNL does an episode of only old cast members.
Toronto Tom…comment on Canadian politics not on a true American icon like her.
I just hope he chops some broccoli
one of my favorite sketchs ever! it made him my favorite cast memember
My husband and I use that line all the time whenever we cook broccoli. He also had a special on HBO a long time ago. One of my favorite lines “I’m gonna cut my bangs!”
guess i’ll turn in early tonight.
Carvey=lame! besides Waynes World (junk) this guy done nothing.
he should be working @ BK.
I looove the age span on this one! Dana Carvey is still funny. I don’t understand why everyone is dumping on him, he is ageless! PLUS I was around for the beggining of Linkin Park and I like the change up.
I want to see massive head wound harry, church lady, waynes world.
I might actually watch SNL for this. Bring on the Church Lady! Carvey is missed and underrated.
Underrated? He is majorly overrated! He makes fun of Mickey Rooney, but he is now the same as he.
this show reminded me of the old days when this show was actually funny — nowadays you’re lucky to get one laugh before turning the channel. dana carvey rocked, so glad to see the church lady back.

I might watch tonight only because of Carvey, but I don’t think even he can help this group. Every time I tune in, I am disappointed. Writing is just not good enough. We have been spoiled over the years by some excellent actors/comedians/writers. Don’t see any of these current players going very far.
John, while I agree that SNL has been lacking lately, I wouldn’t use Dana Carvey as the example of someone who has gone “very far.” the only thing of note he has been in since 1996 was Master of Disguise, and, yikes.
We do need to remember that he had heart surgery that screwed him over (quack docs) which prevented him from doing more.
That’s right I forgot about that!
Check Dana Carvey’s “Flying Monkies Tell no Lies”. It’s available on youtube, and is friggin hysterical.
“Squatting Monkeys Tell No Lies.” And yes, it is hysterical.
Hell, I don’t care about who’s hosting or the skits, I just want to see Linkin Park and Weekend Update.
Yeah! Linkin Park and Weekend Update all the way! I cannot wait!
Best Snl in years–totally reminded me of when he was on and as good as when John B-Gilda etc. on totally glad I watched this-havent in a long time
could be smart for ratings. gen-xers, such as myself, MIGHT tune in to see a familiar face from the past…even if it has been surgically altered.
will be tuning in but hopefully he does new stuff I think this writing staff could even ruin old material
Whoa! I just time traveled to 2002 when one of them was sorta relevant!
You’ll see the Church Lady, some kind of gag involving ‘Garth’ and Carvey making light of his days in the cast. On a separate note, if YOU see Kristen Wiig in more than two sketches, you’ll blast SNL in tomorrow’s review for her ‘overuse’….
Good point. It’s not a recap without saying how talentless and overused Wiig is.
I seem to remember more complaints about her being overused, because there are other talented women on the show, than being talentless.
I hope Carvey brings back Stuart Smalley
Al Franken was Stuart Smalley, so I doubt it. Just seeing Carvey might make me watch…might.
He’s have to bring Al Franken with him. Just seeing Carvey might make me watch….might.
