'The Good Wife' recap: The big breakup

You can never accuse The Good Wife of making the law seem like a noble, glamorous profession. No matter how attractive you may find its lead characters, what most of them did last night was what we’d expect and probably hope lawyers would do if they were defending us: They lied and slithered and weaseled out the best deal they could for their client, even though things didn’t turn out the way they’d hoped. 'The Cape' premiere review: Will you commit to this new super-hero saga?

The Cape made its two-hour premiere on Sunday night, and I can almost hear the jeering derisiveness many of you probably feel toward a superhero show that’s not artily moody or grittily grim. Me, I welcome The Cape: It was fun, refreshingly free of irony, and had a sensibility that allowed for a sense of humor without slipping into tiresome campiness. READ FULL STORY »

A review of the final 'Sarah Palin's Alaska': 'Our life is in your hands, Sarah!'

Sarah Palin’s Alaska wrapped up its first and final season with two hours of Palin-mania: Our Sarah and her family went gold-prospecting, kayaking, blueberry-picking, and moose-kissing. (You do it by putting a banana in your mouth and extending it to the moose’s mouth. No kidding.) Palin also offered her own critique of the infamous Kate Gosselin episode. READ FULL STORY »

'Downton Abbey' is the best original 'Masterpiece' since 'Prime Suspect.' Did you watch it?

Downton Abbey began its four-episode run on Sunday night, and it is crisp, daffy, intricate fun, a sort of Upstairs Downstairs as conceived by a cross between Angela Thirkell and P.G. Wodehouse. Their literary love-child is screenwriter Julian Fellowes, who has us following tense aristocrats and brisk servants in the early 20th century, as both social classes seek money, love, and respect. 'CSI': Carrot Top got tied up and swilled booze with a hooker in apparent bid to alter his image

Categories: Dramas, Television, TV Review

You might argue about the degree of funniness as practiced by Carrot Top, but after this week’s CSI, you cannot say he’s not a good sport. Playing himself, the comedian was questioned by the CSI crew about the murder of a prostitute. “Carrot Top and a dead hooker — why am I not laughing?” said Marg Helgenberger’s Catherine.
