'The Cape,' week two: 'You either wear the cape, or the cape wears you.' Riiiight...

The Cape continued to exert its super-heroic charm in its second week, as our hero faced a new villain: A wily escape artist who used to wield the mighty cape himself. “I’m here for the cape,” snarled Gregor the Great. But instead he got The Cape — Vince Faraday, that is, ready to snap his magical cloak to fight bad guys. READ FULL STORY »

'Skins' premiere review: Does this MTV show need... a Snooki?

MTV’s American version of the hit British show Skins premiered on Monday night, and it’s just what you’ve heard about, and seen in MTV’s promos: Teens drinking and drugging, staying out all night, fighting with their parents, trying to help a pal lose his virginity, going to READ FULL STORY »

Piers Morgan interviews Oprah on CNN: Larry King? Who's Larry King?

The premiere of Piers Morgan Tonight revealed host Piers Morgan to be clever, tenacious, vain, a flatterer, and fitfully funny. Oh, and he had a big-name first guest: Oprah Winfrey, who talked about contemplating suicide at age 14, her quest to interview Michael Vick, and how many times she’s had her heart broken (twice). Ricky Gervais, Piers Morgan, and Simon Cowell: Why the Brits do 'rude' better than us

Ricky Gervais, as Golden Globes host, has ruffled some feathers, inside the industry and among TV viewers. With impertinent comments ranging from the true (The Tourist was simply not a well-received movie, by critics or the public) to the risky (few Americans joke about Scientology), Gervais reminded viewers once again that the British, they’re not like us. Oh, we can get taken in by the accent and that uncanny ability to speak in complete, grammatically-correct sentences, but then we get sucker-punched by the combination of impertinent tweaking and abrupt honesty that, over the pond and among themselves, English citizens commonly refer to simply as “rude,” as in, “How rude!,” followed by a delighted shriek of laughter. The Golden Globes as a TV event: All hail Ricky Gervais, or, How I picked almost all the TV winners

First of all, thanks once again to Ricky Gervais for bringing the sort of funny rudeness and effrontery — or as Robert Downey, Jr., phrased it, “mean-spirited [with] a sinister undertone” — that make an awards show such as the Golden Globes engaging to watch. And to Matt Damon and Robert De Niro for providing an unbeatable one-two punch as amusing presenter and award-winner. Oh, and jolly good wishes to Alexa Chung for actually making NBC’s red-carpet pre-show entertaining for a change. READ FULL STORY »

'The View' gone wild: Behar and Walters slap at Snooki, and Hasselbeck cozies up to Bill O'Reilly

The View sprang one of its periodic leaks on Wednesday morning, with the panel squirting out opinions on everything from Jersey Shore to Sarah Palin.

Responding to the video that Snooki and J-Woww made ridiculing Joy Behar’s ridicule of them, Barbara Walters described Snookie as “a woman who drinks too much” and gets “smacked in the face,” while Behar commented drily, “I didn’t know they allowed cameras into AA meetings.” READ FULL STORY »
