This week’s Smallville was a twisty, topsy-turvy one — an hour that only seemed like a novelty respite from the series’ recent story lines. Read the full post.

Ladies and Gents we have this year’s Power! Cograts Kelly Souders and Bryan Q Miller! You’ve come up with this year’s most polarizing episode. Not to be unkind, but I think that it’s mainly fanboys who can’t get dates with actual women who would truly enjoy this episode. Tess is their ideal woman – a really hot skank who will drop her pants for anything that moves! Oops. Maybe that was unkind after all!

    • Lauren

I hope they kill off both Lois and Tess before the series end. These two are the most useless characters on the show they make Clark look like a total tool. I think Luthor was worse than Power.

      • Brian

How does Lois make Clark look like a tool? She makes Clark happier than anyone else ever has, brings fun and smiles out of him in a way that no one else has been able to since Season 2, and is completely supportive of him.

      • G

So glad when bad Clark pitched Lois ass over the desk..I clapped..Thank you writers!!
        Although brief..Throughly enjoyed every moment..Makes watching S10..Great..lol

      • Lauren

Brian all I’m gonna say is NO COMMENT and big freakin eye roll… and G well lets just say I think we’re on the same wavelength.

    • Brian

Nothing will ever be as bad as Power, the worst episode of the series. Poorly acted by KK (her lines tell a redemption arc because of Clark’s influence as they should, but her delivery makes her sound completely insane), poor direction (Mack made Welling act less confident as Clark at least once, let KK deliver her lines with that insanity in her tone, and changed the climax to where Lana catches the bullet instead of Clark, even though the script has the Doc saying that Lana can’t leave the incubator she’s in without dying), and there was really no climax to that episode at all, since there was never any doubt that Lana would survive the process. She just caught a bullet and ran off. That was the whole climax.

      • Maura

Am I the only one who LIKED Power??! I thought it was a good episode. The director did the best with what he or she was given. It was a beautiful episode. Anyways I enjoyed Luthor who doesn’t love John Glover?? The things I didn’t like about this ep was Tess she’s just blahhh, the whole Lois and Oliver rehash, Olivers blue eyes weiiird haha and TW’s his acting in most episodes can be awful this one wasn’t too bad evil Clark can be sexy. Can’t wait until A Mack’s return! I hope she gets a great goodbye its the least her character deserves. ANNND a happy ending with Oliver would be fantastic!!

      • David

I’m sorry but Power was atrocious, that whole arc when Lana came back was down right pitiful. I disagree, I think Tom is a great actor, you have to remember he’s playing Clark Kent, he’s not the simplest of characters to portray. Tom’s done very well!

      • Brian

I didn’t mind Lana getting powers and redeeming herself by following Clark’s example and learning to respect the powers she got (unlike the way she acted when she borrowed Clark’s powers in Season 7), but the execution of “Power” was just botched. The rest of the arc wasn’t bad though, IMO.
Gotta disagree too, I think Tom’s an awesome actor. All four of the principles on this show are massively underrated.

      • May

Of course the enjoyment of any particular episode is entirely subjective. For me, Power, Requiem, Doomsday, Warrior and Luthor are the very worst epsiodes of the entire series. A coincidence that all were made under Brian Peterson’s and Kelly Souders watch, two were directed by Allison Mack, two written by Bryan Q Miller and one directed by Kelly Souders?

    • Maddie

An episode would have to be a truly head-bangingly AWFUL to surpass Power in it’s epic dreckitude. Kelly Souders did make a really good attempt to mirror Allison Mack’s effort though!

      • G

Oh please- don’t blame Lois/Clois failure on AM/Chloe..She is not there..If it failed..well what do you expect?
LOis is by far the most annoying piece of crap on the Show..
We got more passion with Tom and CF…Tom went full at CF…
The touching scene between Tess and Clark was awesome..haaaaaa
And Lionel as usual was fantastic..

      • Lauren

Nah I didn’t see passion G, I thought it was sick, the guy was a murderer and Tess is just well pathetic wannabe, that scene was gross. I still dont understand why Tess is at Watchtower, I seriously dont, Emil or Jon should’ve been there if Chloe couldn’t. Ugh just really pisses me off.

      • G

Well i think that Tom actually have the hots for CF..lol
i know it is acting but damn..Tom went at it with Cf..It looked like she was what the F**-haaaaaaa
I would rather Calrk end with Chlow who to me is the real Lois lane of the series since day one..But who knows what will happen..AM said that she got what she asked for and people/Fans will be very happy..I don’t know..She said just watch..
I saw that in a video..She flashed a broad grin at the camera and said i got what i want..Tune in for the surprise..lol
I can’ wati for her to come back..
        Lol

Tom Welling did an amazing job as Clark Luthor. It was the subtleties in his expression (on that gorgeous face) when he was eyeballing someone he was about to do/say something bad to.
I could actually believe it was two different people. Justin Hartley was also good as the Alt-Oliver, definitely didn’t hold himself as the rich, leather-hooded, hero playboy we normally see him as.

  • Boo

Damn! There should be an edit button on this site! Patriot aired 2 weeks ago. Last week was a repeat of Ambush – which garnered a 1.1/5 in the W18-49 with only 2.634M viewers when it first aried in Nov. 05. More evidence of female disinterest in Luthor!

  • David

Tom Welling was bloody brilliant in this episode, what an underrated actor he is. The rest of with Erica, Cassidy and Justin also should be applauded, well done! Season 10 has been one of my favorite seasons so far, the maturity of the show and change of pace is fantastic, enjoying every minute of it. Luthor was top notch.

  • Sid

Love the UltraMan appearance. Wish they could have used the rest of the crime syndicate too. More Apocolypse villians please.

    • Brian

I think it’s reasonable to assume that some of the early heroes Clark met are now criminals thanks to meeting Clark Luthor instead of Kent.

  • Kari

I like this episode alright I mean after all this season is suppose to be about alternate universes as well as Clark begin Superman so it was nice to an alternate universe. Although Tess and Clark 2 that was just creepy.

    • Kari

That suppose to be nice to see an alternate universe.

  • Maddie

This episode was a total suckfest. The ratings are going to suffer. Count on it. Pretty ironic that this was directed by one of the showrunners.

    • Ellie

Kelly Souders ships Cless! No other explanation for including the second kiss. We already got the message that AU Clark and Tess were having sex after the first kiss, so the second one was purely gratuitous. Clark sticking his tongue down Tess’ throat for 14 seconds. Great lead into an engagement episode.

  • luthor

What about the other Luthor kid (who died in our universe)? Lex’s brother that he resurrected from the dead by cloning him — and then murdering him when he chose to be loyal to Lionel instead of Lex?

  • Jose Delgado Jr.

Okay, am I crazy or did John Glover’s Lionel Luthor spend six years redeeming himself and die a tragic hero, protecting Clark’s secret from his own son?

It’s one thing that he’s evil in an alternate universe, but for Clark to say “all Luthor blood is poison” is a bit shocking considering he knew how and why Luthor died.

  • Eva

I would rather have Chloe back than Tess now after watching Luthor! She makes me want to rip my hair out! I love John Glover and evil Clark is always fun to watch better then regular Clark Kent imo anyways. Can’t wait for Icarus hawkman!! Yeah! And hopefully some other superfriends and hallelujah! Chloe’s back in January! Thank God for that!

    • Lauren

Oh me to sweetheart, I can’t wait for Chloe!

  • Lia

How is it that you can get more details from a Gossip Girl recap then the final eps of Smallville? Can I get some quotes, descriptions of the chaos Clark Luthor caused, what was going on with Oliver, etc…? If you’re going to recap, RECAP. Don’t footnote. My DVR went down and I missed the first 35 minutes- I was counting on this to fill in the blanks.

  • kay

Kudos to Kelly Souders. Thanks for showing how hot Clark can be. Him and Tess are more believable than Lois ever will be. Lana will ALWAYS be Clark’s real love. He’s only with Lois because Lana isn’t around and because the mythos demands it. Clark is oblivious to Lois whenever Lana is around. He only had eyes for Lana when she returned in Bride and he was willing to die just to get one last kiss in Requiem. And now Clark is clearly enjoying tongueing Tess right before his proposal to Lois. Bwahaha!

    • Ellie

I think Kelly Souders prefered Clana too.

  • Jessica

Luthor was ok. It was kind of pointless anyway. Clois fans have nothing to worry about Clois has been made known to be true love. Cless was ok but the kiss were not passionate or hot imo because each party was pushing the other off. Their lips didnt hit so it came off as awkarwd imo. Clois has kisses before and longer and with tonuge. salavation was 19 seconds and crossfire was 17 this kiss was 14 and most the time tess was resisting. So clois fans chill, they have had passion before so relax.

    • Ellie

Nah. The believabilty of passionate Clois is so over. The gratuitous 14 second Cless kiss saw to that. Clois is now about as sexy as my grandma’s false teeth soaking in a glass.

  • Ellie

Who knew that there could be a worse episode that Requiem to poke the iconic Clark/Lois romance in the eye?!

You reap what you show, so I guess tonight’s episode will give an indication of how the average Clois fan still feels about the show. I reckon only the hardcore, head-in-the-clouds Clois fans will still be excited for tonight. They’re just grateful after so many years of Clana, so will forgive the showrunners for all the stunts they continually pull. Well not this viewer.
