Conan IS a so-so entertainer whose main appeal is to emotionally adolescent viewers. That’s why he couldn’t capture and hold the Tonight show mainstream audience.
The cocan show did not disappoint me..his show is still ACE…a very funny man…funnier that Jay any day…..
I was surprised to see the comments here. He cracks me up, I don’t laugh at any of the other talk shows.
His set didn’t look cheap to me, more of a minimal kind of look, and I liked it.

I am a huge Conan fan, and was thrilled to see him come back. He was so unfairly treated by Leno and hhis network. Have watched every episode. I loved the first week, but last night’s show was almost painful to watch. Even Conan seemed to find his own jokes far from funny. Tonight hasn’t been much better by his own admission, “gravy ladel joke was our worst ever.” Was Conan not able to take his writers to the new show? Where are the hugely creative, side-splitting skits that generated roars of laughter from the audience? Conan seems to have very few jokes in his arsenal, never mind good ones. With all the unemployment, it would seem there must be comedy writers out there who would love such an opportunity. I will continue to watch in hopes Conan gets back the confidence he had when he built up an army of fans to support his cause of being wronged. He is far funnier than Leno, Letterman and the rest.
Forgot to mention that the Blimp thing has got to go. It was not funny the first night and certainly didn’t deserve even more air times the many nights that followed. Pop that sucker and move on for pete’s sake! Dumb doesn’t get even more funny doing it over and over.
