Kanye is an idiot anyways, I don’t really get why he cares so much.

    • James S.

You don’t get why a black man cares that George Bush was slow to respond to Katrina, where scores of poor blacks died? I think it’s pretty clear, myself. Right or wrong, the public perception that Bush was a racist was (or is) profound.

      • Nick

Actually, I’m talking about I don’t get why Bush gives a s—. Bush is incompetent, but not racist. The fact that he even takes Kanye remotely seriously is hilarious.

As a Hurricane Katrina survivor trapped in New Orleans after the storm, I don’t think that President Bush purposely intended to leave us stranded – it is just that, to him, we did not matter enough to warrant sending the military in sooner. It was only after the American public expressed outrage to our situation that the ball got rolling. I will never forget the heartbreaking moment a few days after the storm when I realized that help was not coming, and will forever be grateful to the strangers who helped me get out.

Eight years of Bush is why the country is in shambles right now. Isn’t it perfect that he closely resembles Alfred E. Newman? I go to EW for entertainment, not to see the worst president in U.S history.

    • Eric

Thanks for your political opinion, Mr. I Only Come Here for Entertainment.

  • Betsy

With all due respect Mr. President, if the shoe fits, wear it you slimy sack of cat turds.

    • Liver

Are you even old enough to vote? I think something similar to this came out of my seven year old sister’s mouth the other day about a boy she didn’t like. Surprised this statement didn’t end in “nanny nanny boo boo”.

      • hf

I bet that’s not the only thing that came out of your sister’s mouth.
Thank you, thank you, I’ll be here all week.

  • Tom

F off Kanye I can’t wait til someone pops a cap in @ss and he meets his mother in hell. And I am also want to say that for election, of course anyone who voted for Obama would vote for Coons! Kayne is an a hole and I can’t wait til he gets his come uppance.

    • Zoz

You are a demon in misery. I hope you allow Jesus to save your soul. Devil you are rebuked!

  • Tom

Like my n i gga dialect in my last post?

    • Free Thinker

Why is this post still up?

  • dfdfd

oh good – more politics on EW – the comments are always genius remarks

  • bringbackrocky

So the worst moment of his presidency was not 9/11? Or not the Katrina disaster itself? It was when some loud-mouthed, trouble-making rapper insulted him. Wow. Thanks for that insight, Dubya. Can’t wait to read the rest of your insightful comments. Please go away.

    • 4rocket

Honestly, he just managed to outrank Kanye in stupidity with his remark. Thousands of lives were lost on his watch, and all he cares about is what a rapper had to say about him…

    • Deb

I totally agree with you. He seems more concerned with his legacy than his constituents. Makes me sick to my stomach!

  • JT

I’m a moderate conservative, but I think that he should be more concerned about the U.S. troops that were killed in Iraq, because he didn’t have enough troops to begin with.

    • jmcg

Or the right armor/gear for the ones who were sent. Strategic or deep thinking was not Bush’s strong suit. I never understood how people didn’t see that his 2nd term.

  • Kim

Kanye never even helped with the victims of Katrina.

    • Liver

Thank you! Just lending your face to a telethon doesn’t do anything useful! Not to mention that he turned the whole thing into a media frenzy about his statement not the cause he was trying to “promote”.

    • Ken

Yes he did, and still does. He actually has a foundation dedicated to helping people in true need. He was one of the main entertainers who gave money to the victims.

    • Deb

Kanye wasn’t the leader of the country. If Bush isn’t held to a higher standard than an entertainer -something is seriously wrong!

  • 4rocket

Well gee whiz George, thanks for responding FIVE YEARS after that comment was made! And Kanye West criticizing you is what you consider to be the worst moment of your presidency? REALLY??? I can think of plenty of moments in your presidency that are far worse than that! Apparently it shows what thick skin you have, letting the insignificant comment of pop star get to you so deeply.

  • Marc

I think everyone knows that the Bush Admin. handled the whole Katrina situtation very badly, and although there is some truth to Kanye’s comments, WE all would have preferred if they were made by someone much more grounded and articulate.

    • Karl

The Bush administration was not solely at fault. Local authorities dropped the ball as well.

  • D

Well…His own mother said that she thought those at the Superdome were “much better off” than they were in their homes and that they never had it so good. I was flabbergasted when she said that! These people lost everything, and she thought they were better off in that squalor! The Bush Family was dismissive, arrogant, and out of touch. Kanye may have said it inelegantly, but he was not off base to note that W simply did not care about the people of New Orleans during Katrina. He got it from his parents, and thought the black folks lining up at the Superdome were going to be just fine. He needs to admit that and ask himself if he would have reacted the same way if Sunset Blvd in Beverly Hills suddenly became a violent river, washing away families and everything they ever owned.

    • Marc

I completely agree w/you, I was also shocked that his own mother would say that…and I was even more shocked that it didn’t get additional press coverage in the mainstream media. I heard it on a Hip Hop radio station a few days after Katrina hit, and then it seemed like the whole thing was wiped off the radar.
There is still alot of devastation out there, so both their as*es need to settle their differences and go down there and start building some houses.

    • Deb

Are you kidding me? She actually said that?! That shows you how much most (not all-thankfully) of the haves feel about the have-nots. That sense of entitlement is killing this country.

  • Pat Lynn

Kayne West is an idiot . :) He just wants recognition for the stupid things he does.
Pres.Bush did the best he could under the corcumstances.

    • April

No…just no. When a major city in the US looks like something out of a third world country – no, Bush did not do the best he could under the “corcumstances”.

  • BJohnson

Call me crazy, but isn’t this response a little dated? Oh wait a minute, it’s for publicity.

    • whatevs

Well, duh. He’s promoting a book and making the rounds.
