I think that you are right Tucker that AMC will need a new audience to maintain this show, but I also think that they addressed that problem by introducing it during Fright Fest. In my experience a lot of horror fans turn to AMC this time of year, and I also hope that they manage to maintain an audience because I know I will be watching every week.

I really ejoyed this episode and I hope the quality remains. Looking forward to next week. The part when I was riding in ATL was very well shot, and when the zombies were gaining up on them I was yelling at the TV ‘Way to go Rick, get the defense horse killed!’ I hate when animals get hurt:(

    • Tess

Agreed. I knew that horse was a goner beforehand. But it was still depressing to witness since I love horses.

haha I meant the part when ‘HE’ was riding into ATL…I’m not in this show lol

  • Reiven

This show rocked! Best zombie show ever!

  • Jesse

The first episode was awesome! I’m going to get the comic books right away!!!!!

Read the comics. Some of the best character interaction I have ever read. Really dives in to human nature and what we are capable of.

You can pick up the graphic novels on Amazon at a decent price. The Walking Dead: Compendium One [Paperback]
This has the first eight volumes

Finally, a zombie genre tv series ,I loved it I never watched Amc in my life ,never thought I would but the anticipation waiting for this series was well worth it. Well done Amc.

I’m stupid for not watching Mad Men, but having said that, I never watch ANYTHING on AMC. So I can say that I am a new AMC viewer who will be tuning in every week. Albeit via DVR and fastforwarding through any of their advertising.

  • Tess

It was good. I wish I hadn’t read some of the graphic novels already though. It kinda ruins some of the suspense for me for several characters.

The creator has said that he will be changing some of the characters’ “fates” to keep it suspenseful for the comic readers- that one of the best things about the comics is that everyone is vulnerable, you never know who will survive, and he wanted to keep that feeling for viewers who were also fans of the comic series.

You might want to listen to the TV Insiders podcast on this website. Robert Kirkland said they are not going to remain 100% true to the comics, especially in regards to who dies and when. He wanted there to be some suspense for people who have read the comics.

      • AT

        Er Kirkman, not Kirkland.

      • frankie

i agree that there needs to be suspense but shane looks nothing and acts nothing like shane from from the comic . shane was a big tough looking cop and i hope the story doesnt change too much from the comics cause its really a great story and any change is gonna f up a masterpiece. i know some people that read the books want suspense but i really wanted to see the pages come to life just as they were .

  • Augie

I loved it!! I’ve been a big fan of the books since day one. I felt like a kid at Christmas waiting to see me gift. I understand the show has to be a bit different from the books, but please don’t change the stories too much. For all you new comers, this show will make you wonder about a lot of things in our day to day lives….enjoy everyone. Long live, “The Walking Dead”
