'Saturday Night Live' tonight: Emma Stone, Kings of Leon, and your opinion

Well, Emma Stone certainly seems enthusiastic to be hosting Saturday Night Live this week, with musical guest Kings of Leon, doesn’t she?

I liked Stone in Zombieland, she’s received good reviews in the current Easy A, and is clearly a star on the rise with films including the forthcoming adaptation of The Help and her recently announced casting as Gwen Stacy in the next Spider-Man movie. (She does indeed bear a strikingly apt resemblance to the comic book character.) (Random Wikipedia fact: She’s “close friends” with Taylor Swift.)

But will Stone be a good host? Will the sketches help her achieve this goal?

You know how it works: Tell me know how you think Stone will fare, what kinds of sketches you’d like to see her in.

Then I’ll post a fresh, new, piping-hot review of SNL tomorrow morning.

She rocks. I like her suffer-no-fools confidence. Very sexy.

    • deedee

sorry…she’s too young for a suffer no fools attitude; what she has now is immature arrogance.

      • Alex

Deedee, you’re statement is absolutely moronic. I am about her age and my ‘suffer-no-fools’ confidence would give me no tolerance for your stupidity.

then don’t watch. what a novel solution.

    • Anonymous

Could you be a little more of an ignorant jerk? If you think Emma Stone can’t act, then you’ve obviously never seen her in anything. I am so sick of your comments.

    • wakeforce

Can’t we all hunt fake Larry David down and beat him to a pulp?

    • Larry David

So I just watched tonight’s SNL and I’ve got to say – boy, was I wrong in my last post! That was the best SNL I’ve ever seen in my life. 70s and 80s SNL is garbage compared to tonight’s show. And Emma Stone blew me away. What a talent. She’s really got her comedy down. Kings of Leon were exceptional too. I clearly didn’t know what I was talking about in my last post.

    • Tarc

      Troll.

    • Larry David

Can’t we all hunt wakeforce down and beat him to a pulp?

    • wakeforce

Haha, I beat you to the punch! You can’t even come up with your own insults!

    • sk

      ba dum chhh !

  • Sonny

If you watch any of her interviews she seems like shes a really genuine person, and she is always really funny and constantly cracking jokes. I pray to God that she does well because I like her so much but some really good actors have gone on SNL and completely flopped so I hope she is not one of those people!

    • Kris

      *cough*Ellen Page*cough*

    • TJ. Church

I watch her interviews; Anything but genuine. “SNL” is rarely good with talent; With her, it’s guaranteed to suck. Will be watching for the music.

      • Sonny

Im confused what do you mean she is anything but genuine?

    • nate100

Me 2 emma stone looks so much like lensey lohan and she iz on crack been 2 jail and been 2 rehab emma stone iz not going 2 turn that way i can feel it

  • Stevie

I love Emma Stone! She is a great actress and still has so much potential. I think she will do a great job hosting SNL.

    • mary q contrary

I agree, Stevie. She has so much natural talent, and she’s unconventionally gorgeous, to boot! And man do I ever love me some KOL. Sex on Fire, baby! It’s been my ringtone for months.

      • the REAL mary q contrary

Uh, why does anyone find me relevant enough to impersonate?

    • KarlHall

      Can someone impersonate me please.

  • Kanyesus

This is who Lindsay Lohan could have been…if not for her bad crack habit, soul-sucking parents, and a total lack of self-respect.

    • Rosie

They even have the same raspy voice thing going..

      • Chappel

Though Emma Stone is a much better singer than Ms.Lohan.

    • Kris

She really has become God’s Lindsay Lohan do-over. He probably realized she’d never recover and made a back-up.

      • gah

oh this comment made me laugh.

      • Elle

        i like your comment too.

    • mike

      @Kam,
Your post is confusing. I think you mean Emma Stone wishes she Will Have the career that Lindsay Once had without all the wreckless drug abuse and family dysfunction.

  • Jamie

Like every other week, the SNL writers will let the host down (its sad but true), which sucks because I love Emma Stone.

    • The Jackal

Exactly. Same thing. Everybody comes here and praises the choice of host and then on Sunday everybody will be in here blasting the writers, saying the show isn’t funny and her talent was wasted.

    • The Jackal

oh yeah, and about 900 posts about how Kristen Wiig isn’t funny.

      • Jamie

Exactly, there first 3 guests this year were Amy Poehler, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Lynch. These should have been great episodes, yet only 1/3 was consistenly funny. So sadly there’s only a 33% chance this episode will be good. I’m still gonna watch (I love Emma Stone) but I’m not super excited because it will probably be a letdown. I hate to be a downer (perhaps a debbie downer) but its the truth.

      • Jamie

sorry, I meant ‘their’ not ‘there’ in my previous post

    • Jason

Um, not sure who or what you were watching, but according to my records, and the reviews of the episodes, the writers have been on their game so far this year. Kristen and the rep cast are taking a back seat to the development of the featured players and the sketches are well-written. So, let’s find new arguments.

  • DVRme

I will set my DVR…so I can FF through Kings of Leon….who books the music? They really suck on their choices

  • tummy

Where are the non-white hosts and artists SNL?

    • j

      That’s racist.. Color shouldn’t matter, you bigot…

      • Is that you, Stephen Colbert?

      • D

I cannot believe there are people like Tummy in a post-racism America. Obama is disappointed in you!

      • Nameless – deal with it EW!

I can’t believe that a) Anyone would want to be named “Tummy”; b) Anyone would take someone named “Tummy” seriously.

    • Cris

I believe Tracy Jordan once made a joke during the show that they’re only allowed one black host per season.

      • C Lo Lo

Its Tracy Morgan not Jordan…judging by your post you know nothing about SNL

      • Kris

Tracy Jordan is his character on 30 Rock. The guy probably got confused.

      • Cris

Thanks Kris. And sorry C Lo Lo. We can’t all be perfect like you.

    • elena

Kanye was the musical guest two shows ago…but other than that, you’re right. There’s a surprising lack of diversity. (I love these hosts, tho, if that makes any difference)

    • Michael

It’s not so much a conspiracy as it is finding the most famous star available with something to promote that particular week. I do think they could have a more diverse cast though.

    • Alan of Montreal

I think Tummy has a totally legitimate point–and there’s no such thing as post-racism

  • winky84

Hell ya!Emma Stone & Kings of Leon!Cant wait!

  • joe

    Emma Stone is smoking hot.
    And funny.
    And talented.
    And cool.
    Bill Murray loves her.

  • LOL

Please, no tired Wiig characters tonight. Give us a break from the nonsense.

    • Brian

Yeah, the only Wiig characters I want to see are the lady who loves surprises, Target lady, Penelope, that sexy/ugly Betty Boop chick, Aunt Linda, Judy Grimes, or anyone else. But ONLY those ones and none of the others!

      • mary q contrary

The surprise party lady is my family’s FAVORITE thing right now, period. My husband and kids are watching the video on a daily basis now.

      • mary q contrary

        Please stop impersonating me.

  • dakmart

Emma Stone has wanted to host (or be a cast member of) SNL for a long time, and she is naturally funny and charming, so I’d bet it will be a good episode… despite the material.

  • Jason

You know what they should do? A 25 minute ‘What Up Wit Dat?’ sketch. That would be awesome.

    Ugh.

  • Alan

She’s good but nothing can make snl good again.

  • Larry David

I’m a huge SNL fan and have been for decades. Whether it’s good, bad, or somewhere in between, I’m down to watch. It’s kinda like a sports team: sometimes the line-up’s great, and other seasons it sucks. Still the best thing on network TV at 11:30pm on Saturday nights. Really looking firward to tonight’s show! Emma Stone is great.

  • Dee

Love, love Emma Stone. Now here’s a young actress to be watching in the future, not that dirty, nasty twi girl

    • LOL

      K-Stew forever!

      • andy

        K-stew sucks Robert’s pussi
