I would have rather seen a full episode about how Stan and Mr. Mackey were hoarders. I think there was a full episode of material there. Instead, it seems like they wrote this episode right after they got out of Inception, but couldn’t think of how to set it up so they just threw in two minutes of Hoarders. Kind of weak and lazy writing, and they’ve done much better critiques of movies and shows they don’t like (including last week’s Jersey Shore/NJ Housewives, which was about 1,000 times better than this week’s episode).
As Comic Book Guy once said, “Worst…episode…ever.” And, yeah, I got it. It just wasn’t funny.
You explain while I provide background.
i actually found this episode better than the last two.
I didn’t laugh much, mainly b/c this is the second weeek in a row where I had not seen what they were spoofing and so missed half the jokes. (Am I the only South Park fan who has never watched a reality program of any kind OR “Inception”?) I did like Mr. Mackey being just as nerdy and square as a kid. “Yay, Woodsy Owl!” Reminded me of the fat camp episode where Cartman said of a super-nerd, “Can someone kill this kid and put him out of his misery?”
But guys–two weeks with very little Butters? SOOOO wrong.
Yes, it was a funny episode, and as usual, I agree with the viewpoints presented (although I liked Inception, I did get fed up of listening to Chris Nolan buttlickers raving about how intelligent and perfect it was). But South Park needs to get back to what it once was: a comedy about dirty little kids and how they view the world, not one movie/TV show spoof after another. This reeks of laziness, but then again, this is a show whose producers wait almost literally till the last minute to even write an episode.
