This week, Fringe was set in our universe, with the red-headed, swaggering, alternate-universe-Olivia using dyed blonde hair and a more sober mien to impersonate our Read the full post.

If Newton only hired two guys, where did the deaf guy come from? Also I can’t remember how Bell died.
The deaf guy was a cousin of one of Newton’s guys, and he tagged along on the job.
Bell was molecularly unstable and died providing the energy to get Walter, Peter, and Altivia home.
I didn’t remember that at all. Maybe I should’ve watched a ‘catch up’ episode that was probably aired prior to this season’s start.
Loved this week’s show. But I have to say what confuses me is not the alternate universes or elaborate plot points but the variation in the other Olivia’s fan name. Is she Bolivia / Altivia / Fauxlivia?? Pick one and stick to it already!
I’m reeling with suspense over the developments in the show, but can’t help but feel so sorry for Peter (in advance). He’s already feeling like he doesn’t belong in either universe, with good reason, and Olivia was the one person that grounded him. Now whatever romantic developments occur with Peter and Altolivia are setting him up for another big fall. Will Peter be strong enough to rescue the real Olivia from the other universe (if it comes to that) when the deceit is revealed??
Boy, these last two episodes have sort of re-invented the wheel for this show. Plus … where are the Observers? Have I missed them. The opening ep was very, very rough … and, this second one, just a bit more. Yes, Anna is outsanding, as is Joshua and John … but, something has changed. If you missed the first two seasons … you’ve missed a lot. Soemthing is different and I cannot put my finger on it. I guess correctly that Walter had inherited MD … that should be a terrific and rich endeavor. Great show … but, please, pay attention!
One thing that is different is the absence of Rachel and Ella.
Not as good as premiere, but what episode has been?
Had a gut feeling that Bell left Walter Massive Dynamic.
Hope they keep up the Olivias in diff universes all season. Have to say, right now, the alternate universe is more interesting.
Looking forward to seeing more of Bubbles! (Andre Royo)
How will Walter synthesize his dual roles as head of massive dynamic and FBI consultant? Will government now be privy to the work of MD?
do you think his memories are at MD and he will get them back?
Walter’s memories were in the now dead brain tissue that Bell had removed and implanted in other people.
Dicazi’s right and I’ve been telling others the same. But I just had a secondary thought regarding how Bell had access to the alternate universes resources—which may include the capability to obtain and store liquid memories like we saw in the season premiere. I don’t know how the process works, but if the writers/producers wanted to go there, it might just be possible that Bell created “copies” of Walter’s memories. It seems reasonable that memories that significant would warrant a back-up/safeguard were that possible…and now we know that it is.
I don’t know that I expect anything to come of it. I’m just saying it’s plausible.
Research Whole Brain Emulation or Mind Uploading.
Certainly possible.
Terrific episode! Was the Altivia’s plan always to get the device into Peter’s hands? I really did not understand why Newton just left it in the subway.
It was a great episode. Torv has made leaps and bounds in her acting this season. Also, Peter not noticing is understandable. Its been two days and he has no idea. As viewers we already know that the Olivias have been switched. Therefore we know what to look for. Give it a couple weeks (in their time not ours) it will all add up for Peter.
I don’t think Torv’s acting has changed. Olivia was written as a no-nonsense work-driven FBI agent. And after “Jacksonville”, the viewers saw why she was that way. Altivia’s a different person altogther not having undergone Walter’s cortexiphan experiments plus having grown up with her mother and Torv’s acting and the writing reflects that.
I am new to Fringe, and I love it. Trying to catch up on the past two seasons. Loved last week and next week is going to give more “other side” details I think
Ken, where are you? You’re not posting as much as you used to. Come back!
It was a great, well-rounded episode. I was glad to see most of the characters in the episode. If anyone comes back here to read the glyph codes are, Ep1/Amber and Ep2/Alert.
Okay…I wondered where Ella and Rachel were….
