Rubicon has aired a scant six episodes, but its prognosis is already as grim as the inside of one of those morose meeting rooms in Read the full post.

It’s getting there. This episode is the first one that really hooked me in. I’m sticking around because I think it’s worth the investment. I hope AMC lets it find it groove.
On a side note, James Badge Dale is so alluring usually. I wish he’d bring just a little more of that to Will. Not too much, b/c Will is supposed to be morose, but just a touch. He was mesmerizing in The Pacific & I keep looking for hints of that. Hopefully, it’ll come with time.
I agree with you about James Badge Dale in The Pacific- he was mesmerizing. I am also amazed on what he has pulled off on Rubicon. The character is so different. The writers have given him so few words and people to bounce off. He is alone a lot of the time with only his face and body language to communicate with the audience. He has been able to let us witness the tension, paranoia and isolation Will feels in his search for answers. Hopefully, in future episodes we can see Will opening up emotionally and finding some peace.
I really like Rubicon. Its definitely too smart for network tv, I hope AMC gives it a chance.
zzzzzzzzz
I love this show! Anything that is not mainstream tv garbage always thrills me. This show is creepy because of the layers of conspiracy. If the pace were faster, you might miss some important element. I, for one, will stick to it and hope that AMC does too.
I’m hooked, my favorite show on tv right now.
Great show…I’m always left with questions to ponder…I wait for the next chapter er episode… This show is a good example of why I’m bored with books right now…more screen time for Maggie even if she is just primping in the john…tv gods, please let this one play out slowly, in it’s own time with all of these people I want to know more about…you have planted it,the plots, topics and characters are worthy…let the story grow…
Please have somebody do weekly Rubicon updates, this show is too good to go off the air, besides Stephen King loves it
Doc Jensen, do for this show what you did for Lost, I do not want a thought provoking interestingly well acted show to go off the air. Write about it weekly to stir up more interest in this show.
I think that we will find out that the clover leaves represent the three branches of government (Executive, Judicial and Legislative) and the fourth lead represents the Council on Foreign Relations (or some fictional equivalent), the real power brokers who are running the U.S. government (into the ground)by massive socialist legislation. In this scenario as in our real world, I think the President is only middle management, and is told what to do by the puppeteers.
I keep watching this because I have not set my DVR to stop recording it. It is slow and boring. I am usually one that likes the suspense, but I find myself very close to just reading spoilers and saving myself hours of boredom to find out the answers to the few questions I have.
Jane and Lynne, you both share my exact sentiments: We wonder why we find ourselves still watching the same show that plods on painfully. Maybe we are hopeful creatures who pray that things might get better, but with Rubicon, it’s the same thing with every episode. Apart from Persons Unknown, I would also draw similarites to the now defunct Happy Town and to a certain extent Pretty Little Liars, although the latter is more a tad more kiddie. The shows all end with us wondering… okay, so what did I just watch that was truly interesting? And what was that cliff hanger about? Was it even one?
I assumed Rubicon would not do well, because by and large a significant portion of the TV audience loses interest unless something explodes every 15 minutes. This is show is literally too good for them.
I love the show, I love the careful development, the powerful, if cautious pace. My only xcriticism is that, I agree, the main character does seem to be a bit clueless for such a brilliant guy, but as of the most recent epsode, Cale Ingram is officially one of the coolest characters on TV. I hope and pray they keep it on the air, and let it blossom.
I love the show and will be really pissed if it doesn’t get picked up next year. Who do we write?
Yes, the show doesn’t fly and, no, there are no moving islands or fighting housewives, but it is provocative in a Good Will Hunting meets Syriana kind of way.
Although I have no clue if there’s even a shred of truth in this presentment of the highest echelons of our intelligence community, it is presented in a believable, albeit truncated, cohesive manner.
I just discovered this show and was immediately intrigued. By episode 4 it started to get really good, and now I’m totally hooked. I love the slow-burning paranoia and unraveling, and now the characters are getting fleshed out more. Plus it’s beautifully filmed! I really hope it gets a 2nd season!
