I stopped watching when I realized it was no longer a singing contest, but a “how many family members and friends and hometown people can vote multiple times for me” contest. And when Sanjaya(?) got as far as he did due to the vote for the worst website, I stopped even looking as the recaps.

Frankly, I only watch the first couple of weeks of Idol to see the horrible audition process then I’m out. Still, you never know where the next Clarkson or Underwood might be waiting to be discovered.

Yes, let’s cancel every show that I don’t personally like because I don’t know how to change the channel! Here is a short list: CSI:NY, Gossip Girl, Big Brother, Breaking Bad (yeah I said it), and America’s Got Talent. That’s it for now. More to come later.

Actually, Idol is doing fine. Season 9 was terrible, but it was still far and away the biggest show on television. What idiot would just cancel the biggest show on television just because ratings decreased? Ratings for TV shows have been decreasing across the board, not just for Idol. I think it’s holding more steadily than most.
They should have canned this show years ago.
In total agreement with you, Ken! I think AI is going to be a DISASTER this year. J-Lo and Steven (if he has been selected?)should think long and hard about this offer. The hole format of Idol has to change not just the judges. Theme Nights, and all the rest of the “campyness” of this show is way off course. Just “shelve” it and move on. AI has run its course and is dying a slow death!
No one on the last season had any talent anyway, and with Simon gone the whole show’s down the toilet. CANCEL! We don’t need another Idol anyway.

American Idol needs to do something to garner viewers, because X-Factor is going to be the new biggest show on television. I’ve watched AI since the Top 12 of Season 2, but I don’t know if I’ll watch it this upcoming season since too many shakeups are happening. It all depends on who replaces who.
