It’s odd, at least to me, that the writer who feels that Sela Ward’s talents deserve a better showcase than CSI:NY, was the way I felt about Melina Kanakaredes on Providence. I watched episodes, I didn’t like the series and I felt that Kanakaredes is a much better actor than the material she was doing on Providence. In my view CSI:NY was better than Providence. And is also better than Sisters, the show Sela Ward did in the ’90s.

Ken Tucker, how about doing an article on how to make TV movies and miniseries better so they’re worthy of the viewers time for the networks, PBS, syndication, basic cable, premium cable and pay-per-view (if view does that kind of programming)

We know how the writer feels about Sela Ward and Nathan Fillion but what about actors people don’t see enough of but should? In his and EW readers’ opinions which performers should we see more of on TV and film, for that matter, that is worthy of their talents? People who aren’t on TV series and not movie names that is, not even in so-so work that is unworthy of their talents. One person I can name that a certain number of women like is Johnny Messner who was the lead on the 2005 Fox short lived series, Killer Instinct. A lot of women thing he’s a looker and sexy and perfect to be a leading man. One person said he should have played the next XXX on Youtube. Can anyone name any other performers that we should see more of in stuff worthy of their talents but don’t.

I agree Sela Ward deserves better but I am glad she is back on TV and I do like Gary Sinise. I much rather have Sela be a regular on HOUSE, she was GREAT in that show.
    Also under used: GERALD MCRANEY.

I loved Nathan Fillion on Fire fly but for me the best work he did was on the last year of
Buffy, he was amazing, so creepy but compelling.

Personally, I subscribe to the premise that as much as “Castle” is fun, light, well-written and all the cast do good work, Fillion is capable of more. Want to see something interesting? Watch him in material that doesn’t quite work like “White Noise – The Light” and you can see how hard he’s working to make this thing gel. All he needs is a major studio with a major franchise (something with some proper meat on it, please!) to give him the break he does deserve.

Ken: CSI:NY is far from great television, but it’s an epic compared to CSI: Miami, which is easily the worst of the three shows in every possible way.

Castle is perfect for Nathan because the humor is similar to firefly. It is one of the better cop shows on tv the originality of the cases and the relationship between castle and beckett has had some of the funniest things ive seen on tv in a long time. its better than csi: wherever.

Nathan Fillion was brilliant in his subtle performance in “Waitress” with Keri Russell. I loved him in the Joss productions, but I “fell in love with him” as Dr. Pomatter, the OBGYN who brings Kerri Russell’s Jenna a little joy in her otherwise miserable life. I like Castle, but he has so much more potential.

My friends and I can’t wait for Castle. We discuss it every week, and all of us are looking forward to the new season in Sept. Nathan Fillion is perfect in the part and plays Castle with excellent humor.
