Great list, although I would add Men of a Certain Age (consistently poignant and compulsively watchable), Nurse Jackie (some painfully real character studies and incredible performances) and Southland (which never sacrificed character for its cases).
I should also throw in Archer, a perfect follow-up to Frisky Dingo.
Yes. Archer is a very funny show.
Where is Human Target? Love anything Mark Valley is in and if stuff blows up it’s even better.
Cougar Town? Damages?
How about some love for Castle? It became my must watch TV (along with House and, guilty pleasure, Gossip Girl) on Mondays.
Totally with you on Castle. Nathan Fillion should be cast in the Rockford Files movie.
Yes, Castle is so funny, always watch House, even the bad ones.
lost should be number one, wheres the cougar town love?, and glee was awful this second volume with recycled storylines and characters acting out of character.
I agree that Glee should not be on the list for it’s second half of the season. It’s first half was good but that second half? Downhill.
Knock off Glee and add Community and you’re golden.
My thoughts exactly
I’m surprised by how much I enjoy Community. Used to be an Office/BBT/HIMYM fan, but Community just may replace them as my go-to chuckle show.
I’d replace Glee with Chuck, but besides that, good list.
And I love that you’re enjoying Doctor Who! You should definitely check out the David Tennant years…Steven Moffat’s writing may be infinitely superior to RTD’s, but there’s no question that David Tennant was the better actor. And while I LOVE Amy she can’t top Rose or Donna.
Lost, The Middle, Fringe, Nurse Jackie and i enjoyed V.
What about Deadliest Catch? This season’s telling of Phil Harris’s stroke and soon-to-be death is exactly what reality television should be.
Cougar Town is hilarious and makes you really care about the characters. Definitely one of the best.
Agree with giving Community some kind of recognition. It deserves it.
And Ugh, Temple Grandin.
Wow, I watch … none of those shows. Have no desire to, either.

EXCUSE ME. I don’t see Lie to Me on this list.
Such a Great show!!!!
I’m a Lost fanatic but Ashes to Ashes (BBC) was the best show of this year, hands down. It explored many of the same themes as Lost but much more eloquently.
Couldn’t agree more about Breaking Bad. I just hope it doesn’t succumb to the Sopranos/Lost curse, where they have three amazing seasons and then sink into nothingness. Bryan Cranston is a revelation!
Treme, and The Pacific need to be at the top of the list.
