I enjoyed this show too. It’s inspiring to actually hear discussions of art on a channel other than PBS, and though the art-world is not 100% suited for the gossipy Bravo treatment, there are still many chances to glimpse the ideas of art behind the parameters of the game these people are playing. Plus, frankly, it’s going to be entertaining to watch artists — who notoriously work according to their own idiosyncratic habits and preferences and often revert to being petulant children when they don’t get their way — be forced to produce outside their comfort zones. I’m definitely in for at least the next several episodes.
Doesn’t Simon de Pury come across like actor Ralph Fiennes doing a silly, snooty character?
Interesting comments and exchanges. I’ve had high hopes for the show since I’m in the “industry” and feel that there will be some understanding of what artists go through.
Love the Chelsea Lately shout out. That DVR comes in handy every day
Ok….i finally saw the repeat yesterday and she should’ve been dismissed (she did not draw a person it was leaves falling), LOL..but dude that did the clown, C’mon should’ve been let go too, LOL.
I love art. And I was very excited when I heard about this show, and It didn’t disappoint me. This is definitely going to be appointment television for me throughout the summer. I hope this show will do for art what project runway did for fashion.
After watching I am confused why the judges think a portrait has to be representational. Nao’s portrait was conceptual. What’s wrong with that: the general audience doesn’t get it. I hope nao’s quirky brilliance will be accepted and appreciated if there are less “traditional” challenges in the future. Every pile of dirty clothes, unread mail and even the sound I make walking up the stairs each day is a portrait of me.
I also, enjoyed the first show. I hope it doesn’t devolve into a cat fight between the artists, as the other Bravo reality shows seem to do. I was kind of surprised at the clown portrait on the palette. When you caught a glimpse of some of his art that got him on the show, it seemed to much better. We shall see.
this show is great. there’s a diverse mix of artists, which keeps things interesting. miles is so arrogant, but has so much talent. not sure who will win.
