Two nights ago, Craig Ferguson put on a big white Mickey Mouse hand and started musing about how “if everyone wore a Mickey Mouse hand for one night” maybe it could “end the late night war madness.” Ferguson added, “I’m reachin’ out to you, direct-competitor Jimmy Fallon. Craig’s impassioned plea occurs about one minute into this clip:
Well, last night, Fallon didn’t take the glove as a slap, but as a gesture of friendship. And so, last night, after his monologue, Fallon put on The Glove That Heals All Wars:
He waved at the camera, said a cheery hello to Ferguson, adding, “He’s a good dude.”
Ferguson lived up to his part of the bargain. At a simultaneous point in his show, Ferguson put the glove on once again and called out, “Hi, Jimmy, hi! Hey, thanks, man!”
Ferguson declared this the first step in “ending the late-night wars,” and added, “I love you, man.”
If Ferguson and Fallon can do it, what’s to stop Letterman and Leno from donning Donald Duck masks and start quacking each other up in the name of peace?

Love Craig. Going to see his show in Boston in a few weeks.
Hey Kathy, I saw his live show almost two years ago and it was fabulous!
I love Craig. Megan is one very lucky lady.
Hey Ken, what do you think of the tennis shoes? I say, just let Craig be Craig…he always tosses things up a bit, and that’s a good thing.
As Geoff would say “Oh Yeah”!.
Hi Kathy, I’m going to see Craig in Boston too. Can’t wait. He is one funny, crazy and sexy dude.
I saw his show in Chicago a few weeks back and it was the hardest I’ve ever laughed for a sustained hour in my life. Absolutely terrific stuff.
I like fish
I like turtles
I love lamp.
Loud Noises!!!!!!
I LOVE PIEEEEEEEEEEEE!!
I like eggs.
Jimmy Fallon clip doesn’t seem to work.
That’s because it’s an NBC clip.
Jimmy Kimmel’s show doesn’t seem to work either.
Damn NBC. They got their lawyers to pull every NBC clip off of youtube just so they can host them on their own lousy site that barely works half the time.
That’s too adorable
I think Craig and Jimmy just get it: they have a good sense of who their audience is and focus on that. That, and they weren’t turned on each other by the network they both worked for.
Kind of ironic that they used a Mickey Mouse hand – isn’t he ABC material?
I said the exact thing to my husband the other night.
Craig tried his best to not mention it’s Mickey Mouse’s glove for copyright reasons he said .. lol
I don’t know what you’re talking about. It was clearly a “Not a Micky Mouse Hand For Copyright Reasons” brand giant glove.
I love Jimmy.
I love Craig.
I love Jimmy AND Craig.
Awww, that’s just adorable. Nice to see the next generation learning from the mistakes of the guys who came before.
Leno and Letterman have a long history together that isn’t as respectful and innocent as some people would like to remember or think. I don’t think they were ever really friends. It is easy for Ferguson and Fallon to be so magnanimous, they hardly know each other.
Why are you spouting off about things you obviously know nothing about?
Sorry for expressing an opinion. It is my observation. I thought that is why the internet has places to make comments.
Keith – looks like C Men is a troll.
You are exactly right. There is a history there from stand-up days. I’m not sure about Dave, but Leno is all about “winning”. It’s in the words he uses and the way he has conducted himself. I think the younger generation it’s about being funny and less about “beating” someone in the ratings. They don’t buy into this idea that because they are on at the same time that it makes them some kind of enemy.
I think that’s a good observation. We all have the internet and DVR; we can be fans of both shows without any real conflict.
The inference being that if Ferguson and Fallon did know each other there would be bad blood? Hope not! I think Craig doesn’t care enough about all the hype to ever begrudge Jimmy or anyone else their success. Don’t know about Jimmy – he seems nice enough.
Ha! I love them both equally, and flip flop back and forth, depending on who the guests are.
Between this and Conan’s propensity to dance-battle his direct competition, I’m liking the way next gen late night plas, and may just try to reward everyone with viewership.
I like Fallon, hes gotten more at ease with his job and he has great music guests that noone else has on. The man had Keith Richards, Sam Rockwell and PHISH in the same hour. But Ferguson is just plain great. Fantastic, funny, off kilter. Letterman’s heir for certain.
Fallon is a classy, talented guy, but Ferguson is the best thing on late night. Warped, but funny as hell. Craig doing Michael Caine doing Donald Duck, that’s funny!
Am I the only one continually bugged by the fact that Craig keeps wearing the glove on the wrong hand? The black stripes should be on the back, not the front.
Then craig is doing his job. He is aware of wearing the glove the wrong way. He just does it to annoy people…
Yup, he mentioned that he is now wearing it the wrong way intentionally the other night. Pretty funny if you ask me.
Craig Ferguson is so HOT! I Love him!
Too bad the Stanley Cup overtime pushed Late Night later, botching the timing.
