I know there’s a lot on TV to distract you tonight — oh, how are you going to watch the MTV Movie Awards AND Kate Plus 8? — but I urge you not to miss tonight’s Breaking Bad. In particular, do not miss the final scene.
This is the penultimate episode of this great show’s third season. It’s called “Half-Measures.” The title derives from an engrossing monologue delivered by the all-purpose henchman played by Jonathan Banks. (Are there any old Wiseguy fans out there?) Turns out Banks’ character used to be a cop, one who learned the hard way about doing anything by “half-measures.”
I’m not going to give too much away, other than to say that Skyler becomes more deeply immersed in Walt’s drug business. (Turns out you can learn quite a bit about money laundering on Wikipedia.) And there are a few tremendously stressed, stressful scenes between Walt and Jesse. Walt tells Jesse, “Murder is not part of your 12-step program,” and you’ll learn why.
Plus I learned a couple of things about Walt: His teacher salary ($43,000) and that this chemistry teacher also knows his Walt Whitman, beating his son to an answer as the two watch Jeopardy!
I’m so leery of passing on spoilers, I’m going to stop right now. But set your DVRs. Breaking Bad is hurtling toward a smashing season-ender.
Will you be watching?

SO EXCITED. Only 45 minutes to go…
I think I could make a nice living if all I did was replace Walter White’s windshield.
thats a good one LOL
I’ve been watching since Season one.
Never thought I’d see decent TV since The Wire left the air.
I love this show…the acting, writing, pacing….brilliant!
YES I WILL BE WATCHING!
I’m sorry I missed every season until this year. Hoping it comes out in DVD or they repeat the first seasons. This is great TV. So tired of “reality shows” and poorly developed series that end after one season without any resolution.
um, it is on dvd.
Is Doc Jensen watching tonight?
I sure will be, but I still have 2 1/2 hours of anticipation.
Wow that is the only thing to say.
I don’t know exactly what to write here. I have never been this stunned by a TV show before.
That ending was totally shocking for what is hands down the best show on TV. Heisenberg is back!!!
im left completely speechless…
all i can say, i can’t wait until next week.
I screamed out loud!!!!! Love, love, love this show. Can’t wait for next Sunday.
I screamed out loud, too!!
me too. Holy sh!t Walt!!
Welcome to the dark side, Walt.
Jesus, what an ending!!
Welcome to the dark side? After his actions led to a plane exploding above his house, his brother-in-law losing use of his legs, and now his ratting out of Jesse leading to the execution of an 11 year old boy, this was his only way to escape the dark side. Also, it was f-ing cool as hell.
OMG what a scene!! What an end!! The whole time leading up, I was like “Jesse don’t” – hoping he didn’t use again, gosh, then I was like oh no, he’s gonna kill those guys. Then I was like “it’s suicide, Jesse, don’t go” Then I was like, somehow Walt is going to come and save Jesse.
BUT I HAD NO IDEA.
OMG (sorry, can’t help saying it)
I freaked my dog out with my gasping.
Oh no – what happens in the finale??
(luved a bit of comic relief with Hank-n-Marie there too)
I think the reason that the final seen blew me off the couch was that I was still giggling from the Hank & Marie scene.
My poor uncle is in the middle of moving and won’t get cable in his new place until Thursday – he’s going to be so very mad that he had to watch this one in a rerun!
Oh Snap!!! That was magnificent! Now I’m scared for both Walt and Jessie.
… wholly s*** that was… can’t wait for finale… Best show on TV
Plus, can’t believe how Jesse stood up to Pollos – saying “NO” and all that. Brilliant.
Just when Jess was about to rehate Walt… saved, now they’re back to being inextricably linked. What a relationship.
