I’ll miss Better Off Ted, because it was brilliant. But the show that I’m mourning the most is the loss of Law & Order. I’m 29, so I’ve been watching L&O for a long long long time. It’s a staple of my TV watching schedule, and as pathetic as it sounds, I feel a little bit lost and adrift without it.

    • ObiHave

You echoed my sentiments on both counts!

I agree. Law & Order became really good again this season. And frankly I could watch Sam Waterston forever. It’s better than SVU and Criminal Intent. It’s intelligent and well acted and well written. Obviously all the criteria it takes to get a show cancelled.

L&O definitely. And to add insult to injury, they didn’t even give the final episode any promotion or anything. It was just over. The show that spawned two successful (three if LOLA works) spin-offs and was a staple of the network’s programming for 2 decades and they didn’t even give it a proper send off.

This last season was great. Linus Roche and Alaina De Garza were a perfect compliment to Waterson’s DA. Anthony Anderson and Jeremy Sisto were a wonderful combo as well. I will sorely miss this show.

This is NBC. They should have cast Jay Leno then the show couldn’t be cancelled. In all seriousness: it was wrong to cancel it when it was already wrapped… no spectacular series finale, just a scene in a bar (though I am glad Van Buren was cancer free!).

    • Tess

Definitely Law & Order, I am really going to miss that show. You’d think with all the idiot mistakes NBC has made they could have kept it on the air one more season if only to beat Gunsmoke. Seriously, how many other shows will even come close ever again?

I still can’t believe they canceled Better Off Ted, I know not everyone got the humor, but it was one of the funniest shows on television. So excited to see the unaired episodes.

    • Sal

Actually one of the reasons I liked it was that it was a smart comedy, but the jokes didn’t completely go over my head!

  • Brad Nies

I miss Better Off Ted soooo much. I was kinda upset that EW wrote some articles about certain show’s cancellations but not Better Off Ted. Though I’m happy to hear I might not have to wait until the DVD comes out to see the last 2 episodes.

    Law and Order =[

Can we at least watch the last two episodes? I love this show!

  • Wheaty

    Ugly Betty and L&O

  • bri

Absolutely. The show had so much unexplored potential. I mos def wanted more time in that loopy world. The FIREFLY of sitcoms. (Arrested Dev at least had 3 seasons and by the end I wasn’t sure they hadn’t already hit their peaks)

Without question, Better Off Ted! The show really hit its stride in the second season. Another one for the Brilliant but Cancelled list, indeed.

    • Mo

I don’t think that was even a second season, was it? I thought they just stopped showing it halfway through the first, and then later they started showing the rest without advertising them (thank God my DVR still had BOT marked for taping) and burning them off as fast as they could. That lizard buttflap snot-wipe ABC…

  • js

Ugly Betty and BOT for me, but my 7 year old niece is devasted that Ghost Whisperer was cancelled!

FlashForward…not because I thought the show was anything amazing but because they introduced a lot of new questions in the finale and its just frustrating not to know why in the hell things happened. but i’ll get over it haha.
24 hurt mainly because I’ve grown up a lot watching it. Hopefully the movie franchise is around for a few films, not ready to say goodbye fully to Jack Bauer yet

    • beans

I agree with comments about both shows At least 3 24 films

  • Boomer

Flashforward for sure. The long winter break killed any type of momentum for the show. It really did get significantly better after the break but no one was watching anymore. :(

    • H

Yeah, I am really bummed out about flashforward. It really picked up its game in the last 11ish episodes. It was the huge break that killed it, and people gave up watching. They totally were not expecting to be cancelled because the last 2 minutes gave us a huge cliffhanger with no answers. It sucks that it got cancelled….I’m sure that next season would have been really great. Kind of a waste of a really smart plotline and a buch of good actors ecspecially loyd and simon.

      • Val

I’m only sad about FlashForward because it means that I watched an entire season of that show, hoping to see a shirtless John Cho, and never got my payoff. Curses!

  • Maxsmom

I agree, BOT was sort of perfect. I hope we get those two epis or a DVD or both.

  • Amanda

Aw, Ted, you can put your underwear in my purse any day!

I am SOOOO bummed that this show got cancelled – I’m ordering the DVD right now!

  • Mac

Better Off Ted was for me the best comedy since Arrested Development.

ABC should had moved it in between The Middle and Moddern Family on Wednesday after Hank got cancelled. If they did it probably wouldnt have been cancelled.

    “My white guy sucks”

    • Mo

I will never understand why they didn’t do that, unless it had to do with leaving Scrubs unaccompanied. But I thought Scrubs was pretty much dead by then, anyway.

  • Robert Taylor

The cancellation of “Mercy.” The show was a so-so hospital melodrama when it premiered, but over the course of its 22 episodes flourished into one of the best shows on television, centered by the excellent Taylor Schilling as a nurse realistically attempting to cope with PTSD from her time in Iraq. The show had such heart, and brilliant guest turns from Elisabeth Moss as a cancer-ridden Mom and a fantastic (Emmy Worthy?) Kelly Bishop as a proud woman struggling as she enters the final stages of ALS. It’s such a shame that the show’s slow start meant it got no press or accolades as it turned into something so very special.

    • Beth

I know! I started watching Mercy, wasn’t sure if I would like it. But I really started to enjoy it. Now we’ll never know what happens to everyone in that cliffhanger ending. Oh well, such is life.
