Evidently hating Jon Gosselin can even inspire good (well, relatively good) dancing. During last night’s Dancing With the Stars rehearsal segment with Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani, Kate broke down in tears about her current legal tussle with Jon over the custody rights to her fame-making eight children. In an attempt to get her to focus on her dancing, Tony said to her, “If you fail this week, he” — referring to Jon — “wins.”
And so, bearing “him” in mind, Kate turned in what the judges felt was her best performance to date.
Bruno called their tango a “mini-breakthrough… I actually thought you were dancing!”
Carrie Ann to Kate: “I’m really proud of you.”
Kate’s weepy anger during the rehearsal turned Tony into as much a therapist as a dancing instructor. He listened patiently as she said, “I wake up and check the morning news to… see what hell I’m gonna go through today.
“This is custody stuff playing out in public. That’s what I bring here and I can’t let go.”

Annie Barrett wrote earlier that “no one understands who is voting to keep her in.” I do: A combination of millions of people who really like Kate (some of you keep forgetting, a lot of America thinks Kate is a plucky, hard-working mom-hero), and millions of people who think she’s a joke good enough to keep around for yet another jaw-dropping week.
I’ll bet America votes to bring her back for another week.

I agree! I voted for her ten times. I mean she is us! She isn’t some plastic star. She sucks as dancing like us and give her credit she is trying!! She did good tonight! Progress. Rome wasn’t built over night!
You’re totally right! I mean, just the other day I was in my $1 million+ house, making food in my free renovated kitchen, watching the nannies put complimentary GAP clothing on my kids before they went to play in their product-placed custom designed playhouses. Then, I left to co-host The View, prep for my new reality series, and plan my cross-country book tour. She’s just so REAL! Unlike her $7000 hair extensions.

She’s so negative? Who wouldn’t be with an A$$hole for an ex husband chasing 20 year olds and as soon as they figure out he’s a loser and they dump him he comes running back to try to get custody of his kids! I thought she made an awesome improvement last night with her dancing and she is REAL – unlike Nicole’s fake “difficulties” with learning the dance or Pamela’s fake everything. Everybody who is jealous that she received free things when she was on Jon and Kate plus 8 – grow up – as if you wouldn’t accept free things for your kids if they were being offered to you and if people wanted to give you free hair extensions or whatever in exchange for promotion for their salon – well guess what – every other celebrity on the planet does the exact same thing from hair, makeup, jewelery and clothing – they are walking advertisements and that is how Hollywood works! And enough with the “she’s never with her kids” crap – how many of you spend 24/7 with your children – only those of you on welfare that don’t have to work for a living – that’s who! I’m away from my kids 10 hours a day so that I can make a living – and that does not make me a bad mother!
Leslie: Calm down! What did Jon ever do to you?? Take him out of the picture for a minute and just consider Kate. She has alienated every member of her family with her unrealistic demands and her behavior. She drove her ex away with her constant criticism and nasty attitude (which she admits in her new book – I read an excerpt, I would not pay $ for it). You call her real?? If you watch early episodes of J&K +8, she looks completely different than she does now. She’s had plastic surgery, teeth whitened, fake tans, and fake hair. You are right that many people would probably accept free things, but most of us would not sell out our kids’ childhoods to do so. She is NOT a celebrity. You’re right also that not many people spend 24/7 with their kids. But after you get home from work, aren’t you in charge of helping with homework, cooking, cleaning, attending sporting events etc? When does she have time to fit that in, in between salon visits and dinners with her bodyguard? Do you have a body guard? She’s a whiner who brings on the tears when it’s convenient – as in when the cameras are on and she needs some sympathy. She created the mess that she’s in, now she has to deal with it.
Don’t forget her ever-increasing breasts!!!!! They were donated too, I suspect!
Hey Leslie: You can’t have it both ways. Either Kate is so REAL or she’s a celebrity. (And by the way, after a tummy-tuck, lipo, fake tan, breast augmentation and hair extensions, no one should throw fake boobs at Pamela Anderson’s plastic house). Also, I’m not jealous of her free things. I have plenty that I WORK a REAL job to have. And to answer your question: If it meant that I would have to exploit my children and televise the disintigration of my marriage for a free kitchen, no I would not accept free things.

Leslie, Her ex may not be one to write home about but I never had an opinion one way or another until I saw her on DWTS. Now I wonder how her ex stayed for 10 years. I would have gotten out of Dodge long before that. And she is fake and exploits her kids. She is not a nice person and I hope she is earning enough for the millions of dollars needed for their therapy in the future.
Add to all that, that she required ABC to convert her basement into a dance studio so she could be close to the kids (for 3-4 days a week). Reports state that when she is practicing at home she only sees the kiddos at meal times. The nannies are the ones parenting those kids right not.
PLUS, making Tony schlep to PA means he doesn’t see HIS kids as much. He’s got a 4 year old daughter and 2 year old twins!

Last year Ty was my favorite- I would rather watch Kate overcome her fears and stiffness and grow as a dancer than the Pussycat Doll who is a ringer
Ty is likable. Kate is not. I won’t vote for Nicole either, but I prefer to vote for Evan, Niecy and Jake.

Saying that was her “best ever” is like getting a D when you’ve always gotten Fs. Technically, it’s not a lie. But it isn’t much of a compliment.

Totally agree. Her face was…less than pleasant when the scores were given. And Len’s compliment to Tony about rising to the challenge of a terrible dance partner was an excellent, subtle slam to Kate.
Her scores didn’t actually reflect an improvement from last week. I think the judges got a reprimand from the producers to say nice things to her after Bruno’s appearance on George Lopez last week.
I think that’s because they over scored her for the past few weeks. I think that Paso actually deserved negative marks.
I actually like her, but her dancing? BLECH. I think she might have run out of contestants who are worse dancers than she is this week.
What do you like about her? Her negativity? Her pity parties? Her entitlement mentality? Leaving her 8 children with nannies while she’s in the spotlight? The fact she wakes up with expectations of a hellish day? EXACTLY WHAT SHE WILL BRING TO HER AND THOSE AROUND HER – A hell of a day she deserves because she set it up. FREE TONY!
I think it’s her complete lack of talent that I like best about her. Can’t sing, can’t act, can’t dance, yet she’s on TV all the time.

Kate did improve this week, but it’s time for her to go.
She’s not that great a dancer i’ll admit and since she has improved this week, then i would really like to see her come back next week just to see if she can keep on improving if not then i’ll agree that she should go. But I would for sure like to see her another week.
But, who else on that show is worse than her? Even the other crappy dancers are a lot better than her.

Im very old and was 16 when i went to see Maiden at the brsotil colston hall in 83 on this tour. They wasnt very good…… They were F***ING amazing !!!
Well sure she improved, but she does not seem to be having fun. They showed all the clips of the contestants learning their dances and laughing and goofing off and then they show her as a serious, weepy, angry person. I don’t understand her appeal and I think she needs to go ASAP.

She really did persevere despite so much criticism. You got to give her credit. She did much better. Don’t you know all that pre-show stuff is programed for audience to get caught up in the personalities of the stars. Is Cheryl’s ring an engagement ring? He loves her after 4 weeks? Drama—–keeps the fans coming back.

We all know she’s gonna stay for a while.. there are people that love her and are voting… then there’s the haters who keep her on just to see her fail. Its fun to watch.

I gave all my votes to Pam. She is the contestant that has the best attitude and she looks like she is really having a good time. Pam came in third with the judges, a real coup!
I agree. Pam may not have the greatest track record, but I like her enough to actually, for once in 10 seasons of DWTS, take time out of my day to watch a clip of her dancing.
