As MB wrote, I too love this show, but I hated this episode. I felt like it was getting very heavily into the realm of soaps. If that trend continues, I will have to bid the show adios.
I don’t get the appeal of this show. It’s supposed to be provocative, but it isn’t remotely. The writing is god awful. I’ve yet to hear a line of clever dialogue. The courtroom scenes are laughable, for the most part. I think this show is getting a lot of mileage out of being something we are “supposed to like.” I mean, we were told last fall that it would be this season’s “most powerful drama.” Ugh.
I am glad the verdict was revealed. I hate when an episode leaves you wondering what happened. I get that Will & Alicia are flirting A LOT – but, it angers me that everyone assumes they have jumped in bed. That logic seems like real life to me – people often project their lack of control/bad decisions onto others. I love the show & I hope that Alicia’s professional rival gets screwed b/c I am tired of him sucking up & coming out on top.
Perhaps, if Alicia and Will weren’t so wrapped up in their feelings for each other they would have concentrated more on giving advice to their client. Also, froma a legal viewpoint I think that it was a poor episode. We didn’t see the accused give evidence, which she surely would have and it was a real stretch to discount ‘Marlboro Man’s’ evidence because he slept with Diane.
This show is so white bread.
Loved it. Probably would’ve been better not to reveal the vote, but
show was still great. Hope this show continues its good writing and
character development. Hope it doesn’t go the way of Gray’s Anatomy and turn into a “who’s sleeping w/whom?” mindless soapopera. Are you reading this, CBS?
Best thing about the episode was the hilarious judge. LOVED him, especially his reaction to the loser boyfriend. I felt the same.
I did think the gender division on the jury was a bit overdone. I would not vote against another woman just because she was young and pretty, and I think most men can manage to use the rational side of their brains as well.
But any episode with Kalinda staring someone down is a winner with me. GO KALINDA!!!
It really bother’s me when tv and movies distort our legal system and process; juries are not asked what they THINK, they are asked whether they have any (not a lot, ANY) reasonable doubt, which means that any jurer in that room who thought that the defense sceario was AT ALL, EVEN 1% possible, then that juror MUST vote NOT GUILTY. The defense would also have made sure that the jury knew about the victim and only witness being criminals, and I don’t beleive for a minute that anyone would have considered this case being anything but a not guilty verdict. The parameters of the show are slanted to annoy and bother the viewer, which I personally think is lazy writing. I love the actors, the interplay on the show, but the plots have to work.
