Health-care shouting-match, er, discussion on 'The View' this morning

This morning on The View, Whoopi Goldberg tried to talk about the bad behavior of various elected officials during yesterday’s health-care debate. (She was bleeped for quoting various politicians’ use of racist and homophobic terms.) Then Elisabeth Hasselbeck twice repeated the phrase “bribed, bullied, and shut out” — her talking-point mantra to explain why the vote was such a narrow 219 to 212 vote and all hell broke loose:

Can you imagine what would have happened if Rosie O’Donnell had still been on The View? I think Elisabeth and Rosie would have been trading punches…

Update to Annie Barrett’s PopWatch blog this morning about the “baby killer!” shout directed at Bart Stupak in the Senate: Texas Republican Rep. Randy Neugebauer is claiming credit for the yell, but claims he said, “It’s a baby-killer,” referring to the health-care bill, and was not saying that Stupak himself is a “baby-killer.” Well, that’s a relief, isn’t it?

This is why I can’t stand Elisabeth!I couldn’t care less that she’s a Republican… she can’t ever have a real, intelligent debate. She just has to quote established catchphrases and interrupt and yell over anyone who disagrees with her. Then she pouts when others don’t agree with her.

    • Gus van Rant

Not surprised a gay like Ken Tucker is watching The View.

      • Ken Tucker is NOT gay

Yes, he may have an unhealthy obsession with Letterman, but the Tuckmeister is not gay. Not all men who watch the View are gay and not all gay guys watch the View.

      • Meredith

C’mon, really?? What the hell does that have to do with anything??!! Get a life, dude.

      • Madison Rose

So why are you reading his article about The View, then?

      • Mike

Hey big Gus, the truth is, YOU are gay ,

      • Snarf

The one who yells it the loudest usually is…

      • shawn

Dude you clicked on an article about the view and are calling people gay?
Do you go to gay bars and complain about all the gay people?

      • Rae

Hey Gus… he’s a TV CRITIC. It’s his job to watch TV shows. Why are YOU reading a review of The View, huh?

      • LD

NOTHING in life is FREE!! what the government gives, they can and will take away. It is only about power. It makes me want to quit working and saving for my future, b’c they take from me and give to the “less fortunate”. I want it free too, so I quit! What if everyone who makes a good living said this?? NOW who will you get your money from???????????

      • Jeff

All of you that are calling Gus can Rant “Gay” for calling Ken Tucker gay are just as stupid as Rep. Randy Neugebauer. Gus is just a plain moron.

    • Ben

I bet Elizabeth misses Star. Right or wrong she is consistently the only right leaning voice on the show. It has to be disheartening. That’s probably how it was for Alan Comes when he was on Fox News.

      • brandy

Agreed. I feel bad for her sometimes.

      • turtle

        @Brandy
It may help her to learn how to seperate her emotional views from actual issues. In this case she refuses to seperate the issue of bad behavior and healthcare. She continues to try to explain “why” those individuals spit and used slurs, to people who are clearly offended. And can you blame them? By doing this she is appearing to try to “explain away” or justify bad behavior. Now, I’m not saying she actually believes this (and she may) but the “why” (in this particular case) is completely irrelevant and a seperate issue.

    • jan

What is the point of a non-talent being on a reality show, what a joke she is no journalist. The fact that she sits across form the other talented ladies makes me puke

    • Celia

You can tell Elisabeth watches Fox news. She probably also lined up to get Palin’s book at midnight. I can’t stand the bitch.

    • Carla

Hasselbeck does those things because she’s thick as a brick, and doesn’t have a single thought or opinion that doesn’t come from Fox News, which is where she belongs. That way, I can finally enjoy the View and ignore her.

    • Daniel Schwind

What would happen to the view if there wasnt a conservative opinion on the show. Probablly have ratings lower than Nancy Pelosi. What is it now,11% I think. Whenever I have come across the view I only see the liberals shouting down on Elizabeth, I guess because they are supposedly smarter. I didnt know Whoopi had a Phd in political science. As a matter of fact, I think news and political comment has too many women in it and I think one is to many.

  • ashley

I knew Elizabeth would get hysterical…that’s her role.
ugh…when someone gives an opposing point of view she just screams at them.

    • LD

“A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have” Thomas Jefferson

      • Krys

…he said as he expanded the power of the executive branch.

      • cole2rocks

These were the only 2 comments with any value!! Good job, guys!!

      • tanyee

        nope, not really

  • TREY

I agree that Elisabeth got off topic and wasn’t getting what Whoopi was saying, but liberals and Democrats do the same thing. When prop 8 was passed in California, Churchs were vandalized, supporters were bad mouthed and some politicians were sent death threats. It’s a little bit of the pot calling the kettle black.

    • Lilly

No. Whoopi listens to the points people are making and responds spontaneously with her questions or thoughts about them. Hasselback’s entire agenda is to shout out prepared talking points, she screams down anyone who seems to be offering any counterpoint at all. She never discusses or considers an issue. She shrilly screams out her prepared rhetoric. Period.

      • Kristina

For some, Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. For Hasslebeck, it’s Fox News.

      • Karl

Whoopi is nuts. She actually tried to stick up for Roman Polanski a few months ago.

      • jmo

Elizabeth never listens. But the point is that it makes good media.

      • CIP

Karl, I not always agree with Whoopi but regarding Polanski, in the show that i watched she stated that he is a talented director that did a despicable act. She did not defend him.

      • Karl

@ CIP – She tried to explain to everyone that what Polanski did was “not “rape” rape, per se”.

Maybe if that’s not defending him, it’s still nuts.

    • um trey

Its not the same thing. Prop 8 took rights away from people. While destruction is never the way, taking away someone’s rights because of religion is disgusting.
The healthcare debate, while you may not agree with it, isn’t going to take rights away from you. It doesn’t make you a second class citizen based on someone else religious beliefs. its so not the same thing.

      • R

I thought it took away my right to live my life without health insurance.

      • Barry

It gives all the illegal trash in this country rights to health coverage!!

      • Flyer

R, your right to live your life without health insurance ends when my health insurance premiums go up because YOU get sick or have an accident and go to the hospital and demand indigent care that SOMEONE ELSE has to pay for.

      • BA

Well, if you don’t want health insurance, that’s your business, but I am pretty sure that is about the stupidest thing I have heard today.

      • huh

Flyer, your now gonna pay for it regardless, as are your children and their children.

      • Ben

Um, Prop 8 didn’t take away anyone’s rights because marriage isn’t a right, it’s a privelage afforded by the state.

      • sarah d

Barry, there is very specific language in the bill stating that no illegal alien will be covered under this plan. There’s no double talk or misdirection. Just like with abortion. There will be NO government money spent on abortions. End of story.

      • Lindsay

Its such a misconception that only lazy people who don’t want to work (or whatever your bias is today) need health insurance. I am a person with a graduate degree who has always worked, but as a contract employee with no benefits (like many people are today) I use government health insurance to pay for any doctor visits, etc. Because I live in Canada, this works out. I do not abuse the system, have never been to the hospital, or any other charges leveled by people afraid of healthcare. I’m paying taxes anyways, whether it goes to road repair, education or healthcare, and save massive amounts of money that I would have to spend on private healthcare.

      • w

Wow, I am sooooo happy I am a Canadian with my Healthcare all taken care of ;)

    • Shannon

Dude, nobody has made this about conservatives or republicans or Prop 8 for that matter…they’re just saying that this is how Elisabeth typically handles arguments…by screaming and pouting. Don’t turn this into a nasty political debate.

    • RyRyNYC

I never saw on the news churches being vandalized by Gays. I hate to tell you, but vandalization just isn’t in our blood… we try to MAKE things fabulous, not ghetto. LOL. All kidding aside, though, the people who supported Prop 8 were homophobes – and idiots. IT wasn’t so much name calling as it was honesty. I mean if your state has one of the worse economies, a boost in marriage licenses would have helped – its just shear common sense; its not only the right thing to do, but a nice kick in the ass to a lagging economy.

      • Ryan

My church was vandalized….if it wasnt the gays then who was it?

      • Ryan

and my friends grandpa was shoved to the ground on his way to church….classy, just to make it clear, i dont agree with Hasslebeck on this issue, and i support gay marriage, but to say that there was only nastyness on one side is quite ignorant

      • TREY

ok, I’m hearing all of you, should have been clearer. The first sentence was the only one about Elisabeth. The rest was about whoopi’s topic. How discpicable it was for conservatives to name call and act like babies and I used prop 8 as an example of when liberals did the same thing. I realize it is hard to imagine someone on here not dedicating an entire paragraph to Elisabeth, who by the way, I am not a fan of. And RyRyNYC, Mayor Alan Autry of Fresno recieved death threats and all you have to do is use google to find stories of vandalism. All I was trying to convey it that when one side wins and the other loses, the losers always act like whiney babys and the winners act like they have never partaken in such aweful behavior. They are both hypocrits

      • TREY

That’s why I am an Idependent, BTW.

      • Ben

RyRyNYC: supporting gay marriage because it will boost the Californian economy is about the shallowest reason yet in favor of gay marriage. Thanks for making me laugh.

      • Dave

Our church has been vandalized many time because we support gay rights. This has been going on for years. We just keep cleaning it up and putting up another “All Welcome” sign. The few incidences of vandalism after prop 8 passed were a drop in the bucket compared to the discrimination against the gay community. So quit whining about it.

    • art

you know the all the homophobic, racist, violence always comes from you side of the fence!… so stop trying to make it sound like we all do it!… u r full of it.

    • bgredhd

When churches act like Nazis, they deserve to be vandalized. Act like a Nazi. Get treated like a Nazi.

      • KRibbons

I’d like to know which churches are committing genocide. Are there churches with gas chambers and death camps? Please tell me so I can alert the authorities, or else, keep your hyperbole to yourself.

  • mario

watched it this morning and i got to agree that all hell broke loose. hasselback (or is it -beck?) was trying to prove a point which had no back-up. the ladies then gave her a chance to prove her point with facts and she shrus it off and says “lets move on” talk about putting your foot in your mouth.

she just wants to stir up some controversy to differentiate herself from the table and she has no actual opinions or beliefs but those of other extreme right-wing senators and politicians.

when she wants to explain herself with facts or proper opinions maybe then she’ll have a mind of her own btu now she’s just a follower

    • Strepsi

      It’s pronounced “A**holecrack”

      • Stew

Touchdown! That’s a really cool way of pugttin it!

    • madriley

      I thought it was Hasselbitch.

  • Kristina

Typical Hasslebeck. Does anyone take her seriously anymore?

    • Karl

No more seriously than I take any of the other “View”-mates

    • Ann

      nope

  • Mike J

I can’t believe I’m defending her, but she had a point and they refused to let her make it but shutting her down. It was good TV, but I’m actually beginning to side with Hasselbeck. Hell has frozen over.

    • RyRyNYC

That’s not hell freezing over that you’re feeling… its the feeling of your brain cells slowly decaying.

  • supersandie

I don’t even need to listen to this to know that Elizabeth gave Republicans a bad name. I’m ashamed to be in the same party as her.

    • This Guy Right Here

So no problems with Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Michelle Bachmann, Joe Wilson, those crazy-ass teabaggers with misspelled signs…it’s ELISABETH HASSELBECK that makes you ashamed.

      • EM

Did s/he say s/he doesn’t have a problem with them?

      • Right where?

What was that about reiterating talking points? No one listens to a Republican because they can just say “Rush Beck Teabagger Birther Nut” and dismiss them. That’s what a Democrat calls debate these days.

      • Max

Yeah supersandie didn’t say anything about Glenn Beck and Rush, etc. Get your head out of your @ss This Guy Right Here.

    • Really?

      Republicans party?
I thought they were too busy worrying about the sky falling…

    • Strepsi

Not the fact that a SINGLE Republican voted to extend health care to their fellow citizens? Not a single one was non-partisan and compassionate enough to vote for the bill? THAT didn’t make you ashamed?

      • Stupsi

Your reading comprehension is as poor as This Guy Right Here. It does not say “Elisabeth Hasslebeck and nothing else make me ashamed”. Debate is dead in this country. If you don’t kiss Obama’s a$$, then you’re an idiot who can barely breathe, it seems.

  • demonterius

    i everything love you

    • Sumit

This kind of biased inopoin over the public airwaves of our nation brings me to tears. Today would have been my child’s birthday, but I made the entirely wrong decision of aborting my child 9 years ago. It hurts so much, but Jesus has bound my broken heart. I thank God for forgiving me and using me to help others NOT make that life-ending heartbreaking decision as well. There are many women out there who know exactly how much it hurts and only Jesus can heal you completely and make you whole again. NEVER listen to what the View or other death-driven TV hosts say. Listen to those who have done it and will never be the same.

  • logikgirl

Ladies you had better watch out. In the past if you disagree with Elizabeth’s shrill cries, you are kicked off the show. Elizabeth is the only one on the show who is allowed to vocalize her strong opinions without consequence. I wonder how well she could care for her “Celiac disease” without insurance. Oh wait… she probably has the money to cover it anyway.

    • Janesa

Stands back from the keboyard in amazement! Thanks!

  • Jeff W.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is so vile, she’s always on the wrong side of every single issue. It must be nice to be wealthy and to not ever have to worry about having health insurance. Isn’t it amazing, all those opposed to health-care reform have plenty of helath-care coverage themselves. As usual the Republicans couldn’t care less about people. What are Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s credentials anyway? Isn’t she from some terrible reality show?

    • Maggie

The absolute same could be said for all those Reps and Senators that jsut passed a bill the rest of us have to pay for! Rest assured I bet they won’t give up their lifetime insurance coverage or their pensions they recieve after only “serving” one term! And no I’m not wealthy…My husband and I have worked for every single thing we have and we are still considered middle class, so why should I have to pay for someone else!?!

      • Maggie

The taxes are going up on the wealthy to pay for this. You, my fellow Maggie, are in the middle class, so you will not be paying for this.

BTW, uninsured people wait until they are very sick and go to the Emergency Room. Then we all have to pay for that, and it costs more than if they had insurance and went to a primary care doctor. So it will reduce costs if these people get health insurance.

      • N. Ominous

You rail against your tax dollars being used to help the less fortunuate get medical care but you don’t mind when they’re being used to fund an unjust war??

      • Lou

Maggie. They go the ER, b/c a regular doctor won’t see them, b/c they don’t have insurance. The ER can’t turn them away.

      • Zach

What about the upper middle class, Maggie #2? The divisions are fading. It’s not fair.

    • Joe

Actually, Jeff W., she’s from one of the most successful reality shows of all time. Who are the other people that are so far above her: an actress and a comedian? Aside from barbara walters they are all just celebrities.

Having said that it is really remarkable to see everyone make their points as if they are completely right and admonish other posters or the hosts for their views. What you need to remember is there is NO right answer here. It is not cut and dry when it comes to healthcare. Some people are for it, some people are against it. While, Elizabeth did get off topic (as I hear she does a lot), when someone is advocating a position (in this case for Republicans) one usually cannot help but come off argumentative . She has every right to bring up whatever issue she chooses because she is on the panel, just because Whoopi didn’t want to talk about it doesn’t mean she shouldn’t.

Also, it does make sense she prepares talking points and might not be as great as arguing her side because she is being attacked by 4 people every time she gives an opinion. I’d like to see anyone try to sit there and give their opinion uninterrupted if the other ladies don’t agree with it.

      • Nick T

Whoopi? Whoopi? An EGOT? A humanitarian who cares about people’s rights and shows compassion for others? A comedic master who is arguably the best part of The View?

      • princesspr

Elizabeth can talk about whatever she wants, but she needs to stay on topic. Just like Elizabeth wants you to listen to her and stay on topic; so, should she.

Additionally, Whoopie was not upset with Elizabeth or did not want to talk about it…she wanted Elizabeth to stay on topic and answer Whoopie question. Elizabeth has a habit of changing the subject if she does not want to talk about certain things or be put on the spot.

  • caddy

everyone gets personal about HER but not her perspective; filter through the fact that she’s the prettiest one on the show and pretend that whoopi made her point: “anything that is a mandate is a problem” .. with health insurance it IS..it is NOT like car insurance where your car can hurt or kill someone else. YOUR health is your responsibility. and don’t try to say it’s because she’s a follower. you can’t accept that she’s pretty AND intelligent.

    • logikgirl

Pretty and “intelligent”? Just like Sarah Palin I guess? It seems to me that Republicans tend to lower the requirements to be considered intelligent for those who are pretty. I once had a bird that could repeat phrases that I taught it. It was pretty. I guess the Republicans would also consider it intelligent.

    • Luddite

What does pretty have to do with anything? I can disagree with another woman because of her views – her looks have nothing to do with it.

    • Billy

Exactly – Every state I’ve lived in (NY, CT and MA) there is no mandate to have auto insurance that covers your car and your health, only damage to some one else’s property/health.

      • kim in kentucky

here in KY you have to have coverage for yourself – which includes uninsured (other party) coverage

    • jcjcjcjcjc

Wow. That’s very ignorant. YOUR health is often the result of environmental or genetic factors that YOU are not responsible for. Even when you ARE responsible for it, you’re not any less sick. Should we just kill all the sick people who cannot afford insurance?

    • Paloma

Pretty is irrelevant. Intelligent is another matter … and Hasselbeck doesn’t seem very intelligent to me. She seems to be someone who parrots a party line and when pushed to provide some proof to back up her sound bites, she can’t. I find her uninteresting.

What I am reading here from some people is that if you get sick and can’t pay for your own medical care, we should let you die. That is hardly charitable or reasonable. But if you believe that society should not be responsible for covering the costs of anybody who can’t pay their own way, then we should make sure that you are paying your full share of services you do use (like highways and mass transit). And those of us who live in the highly populous states should stop paying more in taxes than we get back in services just to cover the costs of the states with smaller populations who get back up to 150% of the taxes that they pay in. (Alaska for example). And since people should only get their fair share, states with small populations, such as Montana and Wyoming should get proportional representation in the house and the senate instead of getting a full representative if you don’t have enough population to justify it and you shouldn’t have two senators. You shouldn’t get so many votes in the electoral college … because you’ve already said that you don’t want to pay for others, so you shouldn’t expect others to pay for you. Fair is fair. And you probably don’t want to get Federal money for education, hospitals, emergency services. And lets not forget FEMA money when your town once again gets destroyed by flooding, tornadoes or hurricanes. Why should the rest of us have to pay to rebuild your house, roads, schools, hospitals, bridges? You are more than willing to take the money when it is something that you want, but not so willing to help others with things that they need. And I am really sick of this selfishness.

With healthcare, if everybody has coverage, it costs less for everybody. People get treatment much earlier so that their problems don’t grow into huge expensive ones. If we had a single payer system, it would get even less expensive because we wouldn’t have huge insurance companies spending so much money to make sure they didn’t have to pay for treatment and we would all be spending billions less on prescription medication (like they do in other industrialized countries). If everybody had coverage, costs would go down and that would make U.S. businesses more competitive in the global economy.

      • Zach

blah blah blah, keep trumping your horn. You can use that argument all you want, but it doesn’t mean that healthcare should be universal this way.

    • princesspr

REALLY….REALLY…you believe people do not like Elizabeth because she is pretty & intelligent…..REALLY…SMH!

Honey, step away from computer; because if you believe people are shallow like you…..WE REALLY ARE IN TROUBLE!!!

  • caddy

and she HAS to yell because she is usually out there on her own. i need health insurance, can’t afford it.. now i will be forced to afford it.. hmm.. do i give up my child’s college tuition for it? Thanks, Obama… send moms to college, but take it from the one’s who’ve worked hard for it and the parents that are trying to afford it so the rest of the nation doesn’t have to make it up.. dumb .

    • TheObserver

God forbid and I wish this on no one…if you get cancer tmmrw…you’ll be HAPPY to have health insurance because trust me, the college tuition will mean very little to your child if YOU’RE DEAD

      • beroo

That’s up for her to decide, not the government.

      • TheObserver

The same way the Government decided to pour billions upon billions of dollars into two wars without the support of the American people…where was all their passion and hatered then? The government has to step in because the cost of healthare is ridiculous for a coutnry that considers itself more progressive than say Canada and France and England who ALL have socialised forms of healthcare. We vote for Government officials because we expect them to make the best possible choices and policy decisions on our behalf which is what was done here. People who didn’t currently have healthcare were still having their healthcare needs payed for by taxpayers because E.R visits that a patient can’t afford are picked up by the state. At the end of the day, health care is a right…not a priviledge..whether you’re homeless or a drug addict or a model citizen everyone should have the right to equal healthcare. everyone has the right to legal counsel and a fair trial is charged with a crime. Everyone has the right to education and the right to bear arms. It amazes me that healthcare isn’t constitutional right and that americans are content to have other countries (like Canada and France etc.) point and laugh at how their squabbling and greed is so obviously to their own detriment

      • N. Ominous

        @TheObserver: Hear Hear!

    • TheObserver

forgive the spelling and grammatical errors

      • MapleLeafForever

Congrats to TheObserver and N.Ominous – finally some posters who really understand what it’s all about! To all those who are upset and angry right now, I promise that even though you don’t understand it right now, you will appreciate universal healthcare down the road. Trust me – millions of Canadians and Europeans are absolutely baffled as to how you could even consider being opposed to a better healthcare system. The US has a huge opportunity to take the best pieces of healthcare from Canada, the UK, France, Sweden, etc. and put together an amazing system. Please take a deep breath, open your hearts and your minds. There are many historical pieces of legislature that a very vocal amount of Americans opposed, but looking back I’m sure you can see how it really made America the land of the free and the home of the brave.

      • kim in kentucky

        AMEN Observer AMEN !!!!

  • Maggie

While I absolutely loath the shouting matches on the view, here is my question: Why is it that everyone except Elisabeth can get their full point across without being cutoff or told they are stupid all the time? I hardly ever agree with any of them they are too far on opposite sides but at least let the woman fully express what she wants to say before you take her head off!

    • art

are you on crack she is the only one that seem to make any point because she talks over everyone!

      • Fart

Art is clearly delusional, the poor stooge.

  • Robert

wow, for a someone whose fame is based on losing a reality TV game-show (Survivor) Hasslebeck seems to have a high opinion of herself. I guess in a movement where winning a beauty pageant makes you qualified to be president anything is possible.

    • Karl

      Asinine comment of the day.

Everyone on that show thinks too highly of their own opinion.

      • Robert

yes but they “earned” their fame through hard work and determination so they are entitled.

She was a game show and didn’t even win.

    • beroo

The winner of the beauty pageant also governed a state, how long was obama a senator??? And abc hired Elisabeth, who apparently can see what this does to our furture. Better watch your unhealthy habits because in the years to come taxes for anything from soda to alchohol will sky rocket, because “they” are giving you health care “reform.” Hopefully all of our good doctors and maybe future doctors won’t leave the profession. I worry about my young sons freedoms and future taxes he will have to deal with. This is a slippery slope we have entered onto. No one thinks people should go without healthcare, but there are other ways to go about it, thats what the tv game show girl was trying to say.

      • Lisa

Thank you! I have no problem wiht healthcare reform if it was done right. What was the big rush to pass it through? Why not start over and do it right? I’d rather wait a year and have it done right than pass this debacle of a bill just so someone can say they got it done.

      • say what?

So what is considered the right way to reform healthcare? I’ve heard this line so much but haven’t heard any answers. It’s so easy to spout off that this isn’t the right way, but coming up with solutions seems to be pretty elusive to people…And no–tort reform isn’t the magic bullet (it’s a small fraction of health care costs). Give me a reasoned-out explanation and then I’ll take your criticism seriously.

      • Karen

Governed a state?! Seriously? A state with a population approximately the same as Memphis, Tennessee, and she didn’t exactly finish out her term, either.

    • Joe

Or the fact that you can speak well earns you the presidency, right Robert?

Plus, how did actresses and comedians “earn” they’re fame? There are millions of reality stars and Elizabeth rose above those to make more of herself. In this age, being a reality star can sometimes be just as lucrative as being a regular tv star eventually.

Elizabeth had to audition, had to be on camera (“perform”), then had to make the right career moves to use that celebrity to get her more. This is the same way actresses have to audition, hope the show/movie is a hit, then follow it with smart career moves. Did sheri shepperd not earn her fame because she did not win an oscar, like Elizabeth did not win Survivor?

Robert, you’re being just as hypocritical as the women on the show and the president who has gone back on major promises that founded his platform.

      • Robert

Yes, all Obama can do is speak well every other accomplishment in his life is made up liberal media lies… and he wasn’t born in America so if it’s not made up it doesn’t count anyway.

And how can you compare being nominated for an academy award with losing on Survivor? She had to audition? Oh, how difficult.

And we’ve been “starting over” on heath care reform for 30 years, if it didn’t happen now it was never going to happen and you know it.

more people live in El Paso than the entire state of Alaska. fun fact.

      • art

you are comparing the education and work of Obama with Sarah … seriously!

      • kim in kentucky

To Robert: oh come on! You still believe that Obama wasn’t born in the US???? Grow a brain and think for yourself instead of just repeating the dredge that Rush, etc keep sprewing

The whole point of The View is that it is average/different kind of women talking about their points of view. It’s not supposed to be a show with Politicians, or whoever you think is “qualified” enough to have an opinion. Think she’s an idiot because you disagree with her, not because she’s “just from a reality show”.

Growing up in Harrison I alwyas looked forward to the Observer. Now on the West Coast I now alwyas look forward to TheObserver.com starving for some local news out here. The new look is great. Keep up the good work!

Whoopi upset about negative words and she made the nasty comment about President Bush…kettle calling the pot black.

    • Karl

Whoopi also tried defending Roman Polanski a few months ago. As I mentioned earlier, she’s nuts.

      • Pete

Karl, sorry but you showed your ignorance earlier. Whoopi said Polanski was a talented director that did a despicable act. She did not defend him. Get your facts straight and stop repeating your talking points, you sound stupid, just like Hasselbeck!!

      • art

        no she didn’t ..

      • Pete

Yes, she did. Obviously you weren’t paying attention!

      • Karl

Whoppi was trying to explainin to everyone that what Polanski did “wasn’t ‘rape-rape’. If having sex with an unconscious 13-year old isn’t rape, then what is?

You should get your facts straight Petey.
