Scott Brown's daughter Ayla on post-'Idol' singing and posing nude

Today on Fox News Channel’s America Live with Megyn Kelly, Senator Scott Brown’s daughter Ayla gave Kelly an earful about her future. When asked if she was embarrassed by her father’s 1982 Cosmopolitan magazine photo shoot, Ayla said no, adding cheerfully, “If [my sister] Arianna and I wanted to pose nude, he can’t say anything about it.”

Uh-oh. Far be it from me to interfere with private family matters, but in the interest of preventing some new pop-culture political scandal, I’d say the Massachusetts senator may want to nip this potential one in the bud early.

The American Idol semi-finalist, who recently released an EP called Circles, said she plans to resume her singing career when she graduates from college in May.

Ken, this is sort of a non issue. So when are you going to do another recap of Spartacus: Sand and Blood? Even a short, tiny one It needs more publicity! I thought the first episode was sort of meh, but since then it has only gotten better and better. Please recap!!!

    • Jim

Is this for real–it picked up? The first episode was pretty terrible I thought, maybe I’ll give it another shot.

      • Momo

Yes! I almost gave up after the first episode because I thought it was verging too much on cheesy and a 300-wannabe. But the show really amazes me at how good it is getting. I keep thinking there’s not enough plot to keep the show going..but it does..and it leaves me wanting for more. It really is just plain ol’ fun. Give it another shot.

      • Quirky

Yeah, the first episode was dreadful (almost like it was made by the creators of Showgirls more than Xena) but the story has actually improved mostly becuase of the side characters. The show will still never be as good as HBO’s Rome but it is very watchable now.

        BION I’m imprseesd! Cool post!

  • Ken Tucker

Good idea re Spartacus–will do. Thanks.

    • Momo

Wow, if that’s really you, thank you! I keep telling everyone I know that this show is the most fun show that I have seen in a very, very long time.

Ken: As long as you are taking suggestions, I would like to see a recap/review on “The Good Wife” and “Damages” — two of the best shows on TV that are doing what they do at a really high level.

It amazes me that we get reviews of “Desperate Housewives” and other so-so shows but rarely do we get a word about two quality shows like these.

“Good Wife” impresses me for what it’s done as a freshman show — multi-dimensional characters, involving plots, good mysteries.

“Damages” is a show I caught up with through reruns of Seasons 1 and 2 and got hooked on. Season 3 has produced the usual shocks and suspense and top-notch acting.

      • Ken Tucker

I’ll be writing about both–”The Good Wife” just keeps getting better & better, doesn’t it? And the new season of “Damages” is really hitting its stride. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks, Ken. Been reading you since you were with the Inky, which, sadly, has really gone downhill — almost no TV coverage. A former newspaperman myself — almost 20 years on smallish papers covering sports — I am saddened witnessing the demise of this once-great industry.
Fwiw, I thought the last “Good Wife” before it went on break was one of the best episodes of any drama I have seen in a long time. (In what was a very intense episode, somehow they managed to fit in Cary’s being high on mushrooms and it proved to be great comic relief.)

      • Rock

That’s not just the best awnser. It’s the bestest answer!

  • K C

Ken, I love your writing on TV, but may I correct your usage? It’s “far be FOR me,” not “far be it FROM me.”

    • I

      ummm…. no it’s not.

    • KM

As something of a grammar nut, I respectfully disagree. It’s definitely “far be it from me.” People are far FROM things, not far FOR them. “Far be it for me” is actually a mangled corruption of the original phrase.

      • Billy

KM, you maybe right about this saying, but your reasoning is flawed. People can most certaintly be for things. Any type of stance one may be for or against. Also, other common sayings, “I’m all for it,” or “It’s not for me”

      • KM

@Billy, yes, I am aware that people can be “for” things. They cannot, however, be “far for” things–or at least, it’s not common practice to describe being “for” something in that manner.

  • ChrisM

Yeah, and he’s not really the Senator Elect anymore bud. He’s been sworn in for a month now…

  • TJ

    Scott Brown is the man.

  • CK

The Good Wife has gotten better? Did they replace Julianna Marguiles?

  • Jean Genie

Looks like we’ve got the new Bush twins in the form of Brown’s daughters. Can’t wait to see how that plays out …

    • CAM

As with the Bush daughters, we should be more concerned about what Scott Brown does a senator than what his daughters do. People (kids, adults, parents, children) often do and say things they shouldn’t and those things are not necessarily reflective of their upbringing. the Bush girls have turned out pretty well, too.

  • Ibarra

Did you have a nickname? How’d you get it?

  • Lois

Real brain power on display. Thnaks for that answer!
