Three Stooges marathon: Turn on AMC right now

Tagged:

Don’t know how I missed this, seeing as how Marvelous Mandi Bierly even mentioned it in her New Year’s Eve TV wrap-up yesterday: AMC is presenting a “Countdown with The Stooges” right now until midnight, wall-to-wall Three Stooges comedy interrupted only by AMC’s irritating commercials:

As I write, “Hoi Polloi,” the 1935, tenth short made starring Moe, Larry, and Curly, is being shown. It’s one of their best, in which two professors try to solve whether intelligence is inherited or learned, with the Stooges as their (really) unwitting subjects. Much finger-poking-to-eyeballs and squealing-pain yelps are occurring as I chuckle. There’s a lot more where that came from.

I don’t buy the old theory that only men like The Three Stooges, do you?

I don’t buy that old theory either, Ken. My mom and sister both love The Three Stooges!

I am watching the marathon but am frustrated with all the commercials in the middle and sometimes twice during each short, get real AMC you can’t wait 18 minutes for a commercial!!

I was watching and got irritated by the commercials too! I thought it was just me. Back in the olden days (the 70′s and 80′s), they’d run the commercials before and after — never during the Stooges. So ridiculous. No wonder I never watch AMC.

    Love the Stooges!!!!!!

I am kinda shocked AMC would do something like this but I remember when they used to be like Tuner Classic Movies. I used to grow up watching the old comedy teams like the Three Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, Chaplin, and Abbott & Costello on AMC.

I never met a Stooge that I didn’t like, thanks God for the mute bottom for all the ad.

    – I really like the stooges, and how they are funny, like like curlie painting a coo coo clock bird but only as it comes out. I had to laugh. but really it is so neat how they filmed it– how did they do all those falls and sight gags with out stunt stooges ????

In my opinion, major networks would get higher ratings if they would run shows from the 50′s, 60′s, and 70′s, especially sitcoms and cartoons.

Loving the 3 stooges… my husband and I watched several hours tonight… right now we’re watching them as icemen in Ache in the Stake! hee hee

Love, love, love The Stooges. I’m a girl (okay, over 40 woman)and we named our 3 cats Moe, Larry & Curly. My idea. Another cat, Shemp, came later. Never get tired of watching The Stooges. Classic, timeless fun.

      Fantastic names for cats! Hilarious.

I too love the Stooges (and, yes, despite the blog name, I’m a female). But I had 5 older brothers who initiated me to the world of great slapstick comedy very well.

  • Amy
