Four new episodes of "Til Death' tonight: Does anyone watch this show?

Fox is burning off four episodes of ‘Til Death tonight: It’s the only new prime-time network programming this evening.

Does anyone watch this sitcom? I have nothing against the show; it doesn’t make me laugh, but it’s not insultingly awful or anything. The only thing I ever held against the series is that Fox insisted on printing the apostrophe in “’til” backwards — I hate it when scores of people at a company don’t notice such a boneheaded grammatical error.

But I’ve always liked Brad Garrett even before Everybody Loves Raymond, when he was a good, aggressive stand-up comic.

‘Til Death was, in its original conception, the umpteenth show to try and recapture some of the old magic of The Honeymooners: Squabbling couple = big guffaws. Well, it didn’t work out that way.

I wish the actors in this series well; I hope they find other, better work elsewhere in the year to come.

But I’m curious: Are there any fans of this show out there? Did that backward-apostrophe ever irritate any of you? Do you agree that Brad Garrett’s a funny guy?

Speaking of boneheaded errors–I assume you are referring to the apostrophe being in the wrong place in the word “‘Til,” right (not “‘Tis”)? Merry Christmas!

Yes… that’s pretty funny; misspelling the same word he complains about being a “boneheaded grammatical error”. Could this be… irony?

      • Ken Tucker

No–just as Scott said: boneheaded proofreading on my part–you are correct, both of you. Thank you.

This show should be put to death and to bed once and for all!

I can’t stand Brad Garrett so, no, I don’t watch the show.

  • Yes

It’s not very funny. It’s weird how they just got rid of the younger couple on the show too. The younger wife was the most irritating character I’ve seen on tv. She finished grad school and then she decided she didn’t want to work or something. It was ridiculous. I watched it every once in a while, but that annoyed me to the point that I didn’t want to watch it at all. But it was never something that I looked forward to, just watched it if nothing else was on.

I’ve watched “Til Death” (aka “When Bad Shows Happen to Good Casts”) only enough times to marvel how it’s still on air.

i like brad garrett and joely fisher too. i keep giving it a try and i regret it everytime. i have never seen a show retooled so many times.

first it was about the old couple vs the new. then it featured anthony anderson and margaret cho as another couple to battle with. then jb smoove was the wacky best friend. now i dont know what the hell is going on.

    • amj

I don’t remember Margaret Cho on this show?

It’s Fox, unless there show is animated and has a character the farts on command or does something gross, it won’t last.

I liked the show when it began, it wasn’t the funniest but it was something to watch when nothing else was on. I honestly believe that Brad Garrett had to have been blackmailing the head of programming because it should have been cancelled so long ago. As for the episodes that aired tonight, they must be from last year because Kenny was still there. At least it explained to me how Kenny’s ex wife came into the picture, last year they jumped ahead episodes and I was completely confused.

I thought this thing was canceled two years ago. I would have watched it except I’m really tired of the old format of the married couple who have zero chemistry and the wife despises sleeping with him and they make cutting insults at each other the entire episode and I just sit there kinda depressed wondering what the hell they’re doing together.

  • Yo

    ‘Til Death is garbage.

Even Everybody Loves Raymond was a horrible show — and yet people watched it. Just like Home Improvement. Comedy for morons who don’t understand subtle humor.

Not saying back to you was anything great, I would have kept that over this.

I watched all 4 episodes but I have to say I miss the original cast to be honest. And, I see they have recast the role of their daughter for what I believe is the third time. I love Brad Garrett and Joely Fisher and sometimes I find it funny but I only watch anymore if everything else is on a rerun. Bring back Steph and Jeff. They were funny!

    • amj

Oh, and I don’t think they were all new by any means. I think there was only one or two new episodes out of 4.

  • Ken Tucker

This is not really Ken Tucker, just wanted to see if any random person can do this. I guess it worked.

    • kevin

      haha :]

    • Ken Tucker

Impersonate me again and there will be HELL to pay!!!!!!

  • Ken Tucker version 2.0

I am the NEW and Improved version of YOU

  • Ken Tucker version 2.0

and by the way – this show is NOT funny – BUT – I think that Brad Garret is funny – he just deserves a better show / with better material.
