'The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty': A big family mess

The first two hours of The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty, which aired last night, was rather sad, and I don’t just mean because it reminded Read the full post.

I watched the show last night and thought it was very funny how the brothers interact with each other. They proved they are no different than any family. The are legendary performers who have been able to side step all the craziness that befolds most legends including my dear Michael. I thought it was great and I look forward to upcoming episodes. A ‘mess’ is not what is shown by the family. I’m glad Jermaine included his botched attempt for the Tribute concert because it showed how much of a one-show man he wants to be. But again so what, he is a human who has flaws. I wish the family the best of luck. RIP MJ!

None of these ventures are going to be successful without Michael around. Whatever happening is sad to see, I am glad Michael didn’t have to stoop down to these levels in his lifetime to regain popularity.

    • MJ fan

Absolutely! 50 sold-out shows in London (sadly unrealized) attest to that. Reality shows are for has-beens only. It’s all very sad.

    • MJ fan

Just to add, if Michael was still with us, he would be starting the second leg of his O2 shows early next month.

    • thin man

yes he did. it was called,” living with michael jackson”.

Your right. Can’t believe I forgot about that PR disaster of a show. Although Martin Bashir was a jerk and did a hatched job on MJ. I’ll grant he got his “got-cha” moment…for all it was worth. Evil snake.

    • Pleasure

The Martin Bashir disaster was based on a 6 month interview! MJ was NOT trying to jump-start his career either, as the J4 are doing. Martin Bashir traveled with MJ to Germany and other places where MJ was giving concert performances!!!

For those who still don’t get it:
This reality show IS cashing in on MJ – just not the way they thought it would. They sold the TV idea AFTER Michael’s shows in the UK were sold out (who would be interested otherwise?), to ride on the coattails of Michael’s UK concerts. The series was originally planned to start with the new fall season of TV programs, but MJ’s death temporarily stopped the filming.

Good point. Thanks for the clearification.

The brothers were on Larry King last week and they said Randy did not want to be a part of it so that is why they are promoting themselves without him. I have LOVED the brothers since I was a little kid. So much so that I loved them as a group more than Michael the solo artist. HOWEVER, I don’t like this series. It does come off as desperate. All of it seems scripted. Nothing is coming across as natural. The only exception to that is when they were talking about Michael’s death. Their real feelings came across to me then. Other than that it all seemed phoney. I’m sorry but I don’t for one minute believe that they did not have the “why did Jermaine stay with Motown” conversation years ago. PUHLEEZE. I felt that part (even Jermaine’s crying)was COMPLETELY scripted. I still love them but I can’t watch this show.

I thought the show was entertaining & very funny. I always wondered about the other Jacksons other than just the rumors. It pleases me to see them I dont know if it is a connection to Michael but remember 40 years ago it wasnt MJ it was the infamous Jackson 5 SO THANKS A&e keep taping.

    • Pleasure

The J5 would not have been famous without Michael – they would have just been another R&B group!
They held him back as long as they could, because they knew they’d be nowhere without him – and they were right!

  • Liz

I think they need to retire. I watched them sing and dance last night and I actually felt sorry for them.

  • Robbyrob

I still remember Jermaine when he guest starred as himself on an episode of The Facts of Life. Remember when Tootie had a crush on him and made a bust of his head? Talk about LOL!

    • Cathy

Now THAT is a blast from the past!!!! Thanks for the crack up memory! LOL!

  • jane

just when you thought this family cant lower themselves any further for the camera, we are all proven wrong…..so now that the real breadwinner of this family is gone these morons figure out they need to get a real freaking job?…hte next thing you know they will be prostituting those kids to line their wallets, what a disgusting low life , low rent family this is, havent we all had enough of them….GO AWAY ALREADY!!!!!!

  • JayPaul

It was a mess, it looked staged in every respect.

Well I watched it and while I have applauded Jermaine’s handling of MJ’s death in the past, this show really didn’t serve him well at all. His hair is outrageous and looks painted on, and his arrogance is horrific. I also couldn’t stand how he treated his pathetic wife, who tied his shoes after he continued to wipe her kisses off his face! Hard to watch!!

  • Tina

I watched it Ilove trhat you guys r going to come back .I have a 11 year old boy and he loves michel he wanted a poster of him for christmas so I went out and I got him one I love all of you guys with all of my heart keep up the good work I was rasied listen to your music Im 42 years old so I do remember all of your songs and always keep M.J. alive cause he is still here I know he is some thing happen when I was watching this show.. Love,Hugs,Kisses to u guys…..GOD BLESS

  • JayPaul

I have a question what is with Jermaine’s hair, is that a mess or what. Looks like someone took a black magic marker and colored it in. WoW they really need to call it a day, it’s over that Magic you were refering to was produced my MJ and can’t be reproduced by the brothers, sorry but those are the facts.

    • MJ fan

This is a trivial issue in the bigger picture however I never got his hair thing either. It does look painted on the sides. Oh, well.

  • Dawn

Also can someone PLEASE explain to me what would prompt Jermaine to name his kid Jermajesty. :-O Dude, SERIOUSLY! That is so not cute.

  • LadyJNewYork

    I have been a Jackson 5 since forever, remember their cartoon on Saturday mornings;

I enjoyed the show and will continue to watch….Jermaine can be an a-hole, but sometimes older brothers can be like that (i know i have an older brother), LOL, I just couldn’t figure out why he had his wife putting his shoes on for him in the green room during the photo shoot, LOL; Marlon is light hearted and like to laugh tell jokes and seems like fun to be around; Jackie seems cool, laid back easy going, he was always my favorite next to Michael; and Tito is about business “serious”, I like the show wish them the best and will continue to watch. It is interesting their personalities are so different and yet, you know they love each other, because after all they are family.

  • Lateya

LOL @Vel Holman about Jermaine’s Hair:

You’re right about that! But I couldn’t watch it. I really don’t care to watch it, but good luck to them in their future endeavors. *MJ 4ever King of Pop*

  • Eve

I am a huge fan of the Jackson family. MJ was my favorite!!! R.I.P. MJ. I wish they didn’t wait so long to share who they really are with the world. For years this family was a mystery. It’s nice to see the different personalities it helps you to connect with them. Jermaine needs to re-do his hair–he had the best fro back in the day. I believe they have lots of love for their brother MJ but its going to be interesting to see how they come back without him. MJ was the core and the best! I think it’s terrible if true that Randy’s ex-wife is now Jermaine’s wife. How crazy is that!!! Marlon seems like a lot fun to be around. Tito reminds me of Joe–no nonsense. Jackie is so cool and mellow. They have beautiful children too. I love the show–keep it coming.

    • Dee

Jermaine married Randy’s ex wife and now he is married to someone else.
