The show was awesome!! I loved all the skits, all the music! And the name of the last song for tr1gun is “Change” and it’s on her new album.
I thought it was just simply delightful. She did a great job…and I hope it becomes an annual (at least!) thing.
I love Carrie, and I thought there were definitely high points – I found myself chuckling several times… however, I thought that Carrie came off kind of snotty and diva-ish, with cracks like, “Aww, if I weren’t famous, I’d totally date you.” Not the Carrie I know and love.
That’s why that line was funny, because she would never say that. If she was known for being a snotty diva then it wouldn’t have been a joke. People need to lighten up and grow a sense of humor.
Whatevs, you know her so well?
Snotty diva– that’s her reputation in Nashville.
christina,
it was a light joke.
Thanks for that. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely thought a lot of it was cute and funny, but she just didn’t seem as sweet to me as she usually does. Oh well, we’re all entitled to our opinions.
People have a right to either like or not like this special without calling them idiots. It’s called an opinion! Michelle, I’m looking at you.
This special was great. I loved it. So what if it was a CD plug. People just hate her cause she is successful. I love Carrie and always will. Those that don’t like her shouldn’t have watched it. Easy as that
I LOVE DOLLY AND I’M SO HAPPY THAT SHE WAS ON THE SPECIAL… Carrie is the Nexxt… I LOVE YAS!!!!!!!!
some people just don’t appreciate talent when they see it , Hate to say it but simon was right when he said she will win idol and sell more number one songs than any other idol. Yea it highlighted some of her songs from her album but they will make it to number one, i still think theres still some songs from her second album that should have made it to number one. Like michelle said carrie is ruling the world now!!!
It was okay but the best part of the show was David Cook. Amazing job as always.
Wow. Thats random. Cause I couldn’t understand what he was saying…
Agreed!!!
I thought it was really cute. She did an awesome job on O Holy Night! i loved Dolly of course but since I am from Kansas City, my favorite part of course was DAVEID COOK. I only wish we could have seen the duet! Carrie is a doll and funny to boot. I really enjoyed it. I do have one wish that has nothing to do with the show and that is to see David cut his hair and spike it like he did for awhile. It looked good on him. With his hair this way we couldn’t see his beautiful eyes. Oh well no big deal. Good job Carrie. Why didn’t you hook you sis up with David?
Truly dreadful. The only part really worth watching was David Cook. Carrie butchered her songs (even “Jesus Take the Wheel”), the humor was lame, the editing poor. What a waste of two hours. Tucker, what are you drinking?!
Cook sounded like his vocal cords were going through a meat grinder. You must be tone-deaf?? Underwood nailed all of her songs exactly as they sounded on record. and her high notes in “O Holy Night” were truly mind-blowing. Far more note-worthy than anything about Cook’s performance.
Carrie’s vocals really weren’t on-point. Well, on about half the materials. Half was great.
But, really? Cook sounded fantastic. “Through a meat ginder”? Maybe you just don’t appreciate that kind of lower-register vocal, but I personally thought he was the musical highlight in terms of actual performance (but, of course, Dolly takes the cake for just showing up).
I enjoyed Carrie’s show. 2nd hour was better than the 1st musically and skitwise although the AI sketch where Carrie was bribing and blackmailing was lots of fun. Carrie’s duet with Brad Paisley was a definite highlight and so was Dolly and Carrie singing I Will Always Love You. I’m SO glad they stuck to the non-belting version of it!
I agree with Ken Tucker about What Can I Say being another highlight and the Christmas medley being terrific. The last part of the show is the only part that felt holidayish which is probably the one thing I’d change about it. Speaking of Change, that was one powerful performance that DID fit the holiday spirit.
Loved the mockumentary about the writing process too!
I had a good time watching. Corny but good hearted fun with a lot of fabulous music performances.
Wow, I’m surprised this got a good review. The music was good, though I’m not a country music fan myself, but the corny skits were not only bad, but not funny. David Cook’s performance was fabulous. Wish they would have found another song for them to duet with, since the Van Halen was not released. Always good to see Kristin Chenoweth and Christina Applegate, although that skit was boring as well. Their performance as a 60′s girl group was great though. And loved Carrie dressing up like Dolly Parton. That was the only skit that didn’t feel forced.
I enjoyed that a lot. Was it a bit corny at times? Sure, but variety shows usually are. Really enjoyed David Cook’s song and the Dolly/Carrie duet. Loved O Holy Night.
I enjoyed it, but I would have liked more holiday and maybe more sketches, IK Was hoping it could be reminiscent of the old Bob Hope Christmas specials. I really miss those. Maybe next year!!
