My husband loves this show and often begged me to watch it. I refused because I found it extremely predictable and utterly corny. The finale was no different.
I will definitely miss Monk. In past years we have subscribed to Cable just because of Monk. The plots were often ridiculous – but that was part of the charm of the whole thing. I LOVE Randy. I love them all. It would be great if they would do occasional Columbo-like specials.
yesterday, Aubrey D’Arminio of EW gave away the plot of the finale including that Trudy had a daughter…..it was taken down after awhile but still….really EW? wy the heck would you give away a plot liek that?
MONK has been a consistent delight and one of my favorite go-to couch potato fixes. Was the finale predictable? Yep! But it was worth it to see him sleep in the middle of the bed. Wear a tee shirt instead of the same buttoned up shirt. Having fun. Glad he left doing his thing; not with “Don’t Stop Believing” and the screen going black.
I loved the ending. It was a comfort show and one of the very few that can be watched by all members of the family. I’m so glaf Monk was hapy at the end. I felt so happy for him. I just hope he doesn’t push Molly away with his neediness.
I love happy endings. This was a great show with a great final episode. Couldn’t figure out the six fingered person. Must have missed something over the last eight seasons.
The six fingered man was someone that “the judge” hired (I think indirectly by the sheriff). It’s all explained in Mr. Monk is On the Run at the end of season 6. Monk first learns about the six-fingered man at the beginning of season 3 in Mr. Monk takes Manhattan (I think).
6 fingered man was the guy who built the bomb that killed Trudy
I will miss Monk so much. I’m 20 and I’ve been watching the show since I’ve been 12. I loved the ending though, it really tied up everything. Also, it was so nice seeing him happy. Not going to lie, I cried a little.
The show was great-why else would he have won so many Emmys? And please watch your typos.
In the words of Billy Joel, many years ago, “F*** you, Ken Tucker!!”
Or, how about something from Bruce Springsteen’s wonderful “Seeger Sessions” album: “Get out the way Old Man Tucker, you’re too late too ge your supper”?
Yeah, OK… The song is “Old DAN Tucker,” but that wouldn’t work here. Go with it, people.
I cried so ridiculously hard. It was a fantastic ending.
i will miss Monk one of the very best show’s i have seen and i hope they will bring back, i know need to find a replacement show to watch but i can’t see anything replacing this.
Trivium; Molly is producer/head writer Andy Breckman’s daughter’s name.
fitting end. Now if they could only do a crossover movie with Monk, House, the guy from Lie to Me and Psych – i think that could be fun.
HOUSE???? That man is obnoxious….I won’t even waste my time watching him. I tried watching a few shows and just couldn’t make it to the end. I pray that I never have a doctor that is as rude and arrogant as he is. Am surprised that the show wasn’t taken off the air!
House is a great show, and Greg House is one of the greatest characters ever on TV.
“But why the angst? He didn’t even know Trudy when she had her earlier relationship.”
Because in Monk’s eyes Trudy was perfect in every way and for her to be introduced to a youthful indiscretion was new and earth shattering to the man who always viewed Trudy as an Angel.
Love Monk, miss him already.
Finale was certainly enjoyable, tho there were things I’d have preferred were different and holes I chose to overlook.
Biggest things I did NOT like was…Trudy TELLING Monk ‘who done it’, not him figuring it out..and doing so in a tape he’d had in his possession the entire time. The other was, Trudy’s murder should have been work related. The ONLY reason to make it as it was IMO was to be able to leave us thinking, in the end, Monk still had a part of Trudy in his life.
Still, I look forward to the new show, the Randy Disher Project that includes occasional visits or references of other cast members leading up to the holiday 2011 release of Monk, the movie.
