I love this show and the finale was great. I think season 3 will have Cameron on the run in Ireland with Jimmy going after him. Jimmy and SAMCRO still are working together and he will use Abel as a barter to get at Chibs. Also I think they will go after Stahl more now that it was her that baited Cameron into thinking SAMCRO killed his son. Love the show.
Yeah, exactly. My wife, who has only watched about one and a half episodes this season, watched the finale and wondered why one guy couldn’t stay behind to kill Zobelle.
I like the way this sets up for season 3 though: when Jemma tell the club what happened and how Stahl’s framing Jemma led to Sack’s murder and Abel’s kidnapping, layered on what happened to Donna, you have to figure they’re going to want to deal some big-time payback to Stahl.
Clay said Zobelle was his to kill. No one else was to touch him. The Sons are all about family. As soon as Jax said he needed him, the rest fell right in line.
I keep reading that someone should have stayed and killed Zobelle. Earlier in the Clay made it clear to SOA that Zobelle was his to kill, not the Mayans or any other brother. So it was a natural instinct for them to follow Clay without question.
First off, love love love Sons of Anarchy. Second, disappointed in finale. Closure is needed with Zobelle (like a good ole western-style shooting). Abel being taken was also a let-down. The plot is leaving Charming where Sons is strongest & their family bond is secured. Still can’t wait for SOA to start Season 3 but could have gotten a lot more from the finale.
I have to say, after the season of hell we’ve been through, I was looking forward to a little more closure and contentment from the finale. Sure, I knew Sutter would have to set up season 3, but I really wanted to feel good about the blood and retribution, and a feeling that SAMCRO had prevailed over their current enemies. But now everything has gone to hell in an even worse way than I could have imagined. Half-Sack’s dead and Zoebelle is free and Gemma’s on the run. Polly and Weston’s deaths did not give me the satisfaction I thought they would. They just felt hollow. I do like the realism of that; that the vengeance you so anticipated doesn’t give you the closure you sought. Still, I feel so… unsettled.
I agree with Roxanne
Am I seriously the only one totally let down by this season? With a few notable exceptions including ‘The Culling’ and ‘Gilead’ which were awesome, it felt like the entire season was SAMCRO getting dumped on episode after episode and not fighting back until the second to last episode of the season when we were robbed of any kind of payoff for all the waiting, yet again, by Hale who decides seemingly out of nowhere that he cares. (lets set aside for a moment the fact that Hale rushes to save Zobelle’s life in one episode yet leaves him to die in the very next.) Oh yeah, and then they have the nerve to let Zobelle get away at the end of the episode! It was a season of set up with no pay off. If thats what I wanted I would go back to watching Lost. It feels like Sons is trying too hard to be like the Shield or the Sopranos when it should be forging its own path. Its a great cast with great characters, and that is exactly what keeps me watching, but shouldn’t a show about hard drinking hard partying bikers be a lot more fun and liberating? Not 13 episodes of its characters getting beat up and taking crap.
You aren’t wrong, the season did involve a lot of SAMCRO getting dumped on. I disagree however, that that made it a let down. To me it was interesting to watch the club’s internal conflict leave them vulnerable to outside forces trying to take them down. If not for Donna’s death, Zobelle and his goons never would have been able to do the damage they did. There’s a time for fun and liberating and there’s a time for a band of outlaws to suffer consequences for their actions. This season happened to be that time.
Finally Mariah, someone who’s not retarded, it ruled! I love how everyone complaining doesn’t get it, and can’t follow the story lines, or even hear the lines… SOA is a contemporary Shakespearean tragedy stop trying to make it a shitty cliché. King’s was also a great show that people didn’t get this about, albeit way more obvious via the dialog. Maybe Wikipedia some W.S., watch the whole season again and try commenting everyone. Before the network believes you and dumbs it down
Ken-While I always seem to disagree with you about this show I applaude you for watching and reporting on it. IMO SOA does not get nearly the attention it deserves. So thank you.
Now, with that said, I loved the season ender. The Sons were in turmoil all season long, I would not expect or appreciate the story being wrapped up in a single episode. There are far too many sub plots for that to happen in a 13 episode season. I don’t mind at all that Zoebelle escaped this time. He is tied into the Irish who will clearly be on the Son’s radar for season 3. They will need this character again, if not next season then further down the line. Zoebelle is going to want revenge for the murder of his daughter as well.
I also like the way Cameron took baby Abel based on another of Stahl’s deceptions. Just like Donna’s murder, this was initiated by Stahl’s poor judgement. Opie let her go the last time but something tells me next season she’s gonna get what’s comming to her.
And about your comment about property values in Charming? Well, my thinking is that the town has no problem with their property values considering that the MC has been in Charming for 20+ years and the people of the town, like Floyd the Barber, want the MC there because they want to preseve the charming “small town” feel of the town. They may not all whole heartedly approve of the Sons, but do recognize their necessity in keeping their town the way it is. I have to believe that anyone in the town without similar goals would have moved away by now. It seems to me that the whole reason the Sons can get away with what they do-because the townspeople-not just the law-allow it.
This season has been nothing short of spectacular. My thanks to Kurt Sutter and all the actors involved for making this the best show on the air. Is is September 2010 yet?
disappointed but satisfied…
after the too neat resolution of Opie’s storyline I realized something with the children/wives would hit the two leaders by the end.
I have faith in this show so I’m riding to the end and see where its headed.
Methinks the recapper misunderstood a couple of things, or at least I took them in differently: Stahl lied about killing Edmond because he punched her and ran, he didn’t pull a gun or threaten her in any way. Therefore, when she shot him twice in the back, she had no legal right, so to speak, and could have been in serious youknowwhat for that. And I don’t think Cameron took Abel to kill him, no way, he took him to replace the son he’d just lost. He’s taking that baby to Ireland to raise him as his own – or at least he plans to, I’m sure SAMCRO will make other plans. LOVE SoA!!!
did you miss the part where he went into the bathroom, got the gun out of the vent then came out and pointed it at her? yeah, she knew it was full of blanks but still, he did pull a gun on her.
Yeah, but when she shot him, he was unarmed. I don’t think what Stahl did was necessarily criminal, but it would certainly eff up her case and probably get her in huge trouble with her superiors.
Nope, saw that too – but, as Mariah pointed out, he didn’t have a gun when she shot him and he wasn’t threatening her in any way *when she shot him*. No need to be so rude, sheesh.
B I wasn’t being rude, I simply asked if you had not seen that part. i know he didn’t have a gun when she shot him but he did have one before, blanks or not. i know she reacted to his punching her and running. no need to be so sensitive. sheesh.
julie actually comes off as rude both times, just saying!
no one was left behind to kill zobelle because clay wants to be the one to kill him. remembe when he told tig the reason he didnt tell alvarez zobelle was a rat. great show, ending was perfect. sutter will always surprise us with what we dont expect to happen. look how many of us are writing about the show. i have never thought this much about any other show. was that mancow at the end sayimg sons?
Who is Mancow?
mancow is a radio host who used to be on air in missoula but no longer is. he was on fox news early in the mornings. he is broadcast thru the nation
I’ve been a strong advocate for this show, plugging it for my friends and defending it against detractors, but I must say I thought the finale was incredibly contrived from Stahl’s shooting of Edmund on through the finale. I love the show, but this cliffhanger biz is lame and putting a child in jeopardy is a cheap, lazy way to elicit suspense. I’ll be watching next season, hoping the writers can write their way out of this crap, but this is a headscratcher after what was a great season. See you Koolaid drinkers later.
I think the child has been “in our faces” for the whole season. The way they prance around with that child all the time…Taras life and career are constantly i n jeopardy…for what? her brad Pitt looking boyfriend? What people don’t get, is that everyone in the show is a bad person… and they all get their just desserts…. it’s funny…but the one with the most pride and guts and most principled was Rollins character
I’m sorry, did you realy say that the rapist with the “I KILL NIGGERS” tattoo across his chest, the jackass who spent his only allowed time with his son at a tattoo parlor, was principled? You man, need help.
Pride? guts? it does not take pride or guts to gang rape a woman, or to hate people for no good reason. that thinking would suggest Hitler or the KKK have pride and guts. Just the opposite my friend, he is a coward and got what he deserved. He couldnt even fight Jax fair, he had to bring a crew with loaded automatic weapons to the fight, AND he killed two innocent women with by shooting them in the back.
I’m a big fan of the show, but I was very disappointed in the finale myself. FX advertised every 8 minutes how annoying. No gang would have left an enemy like Zobelle alive. All they had to do was walk in & shoot him. How long would that take. One can almost figure out where next season is going.
How could such a good show end with such a pathetic finale. Boring, bad, written poorly, I wont watch this **** anymore.
Yeah you will. Once the histrionics subside.
Loved the seaosn, wasn’t all that fond of the season finale. Half sac getting killed – FAIL. I didnt mind Zoebelle getting away only cause he lost more then enough and now he has to live with that for the rest of his life. And the irish taking Jax’s kid?? come on.. i just think thats kind of lame. I really want Stahl to be taken out tho.. some one has to kill her off. I gotta admit how she got out of killing the irish’ son was damn clever. looks like we gotta wait and see whats gonna happen next season.
this show has got to be the very best show on TV, (House MD right up there). the point of a story is that these characters are unpredictable. High levels of emotions have a cause and effect that keeps you engaged to the very end. Gemma for instance has idea the chain of events that follow her revenge on Zobelle’s daughter. And Zobelle himself getting away justifies the unpredictibility of this show. Great show. Riveting ending. can’t wait till next season.
