WOW this story is very glittered up…

I watched the interview and even though I previously liked Lambert. I thought he came off smug, arrogant and shockingly DUMB… When asked if he felt he should apologize to the young children who witnessed him simulating oral sex he answered with a sarcastic… “it’s the parents responsibility to monitor what children watch”. Too which the host reminded Lambert that the “parents” didn’t expect to see something like that during prime time family viewing hours 6pm-10pm.

Sorry but the staged impulsiveness, along with the pre and post show hype looks like the typical dog and pony show to me. Lambert should have spent more time working on his voice and less time with these silly distractions. People loved Lambert because he developing talent. Now he just has bad handlers.

And shame on Ken Tucker… you twisted that interview just a bit don’t you think?

Again, I could care less about the super-sexual performance or him being gay? Bottom line: the song SUCKED.

    • Colleen

Yah, vocals were pitchy on the AMAs. It happens. Check out the For Your Entertainment video. It is COOL.

I am in the segment of fans that did not think Adam was shocking enough and his pants were not tight enough, you prudes need to transport yourselves back in time.

  • emme

I think that Adam knew exactly what he was doing…I’m sure that he did it with more gusto than he was planning, but it sure worked. ABC just helped him sell more albums. Very shrewd! I’m a big supporter of Adam. It also seems that only the older generation is bothered by his display…reminds me of the reactions to Elvis, Kiss, Prince, Marilyn Manson, etc I’m sure that he will be just fine.

    • Lisa Simpson

I don’t know what you consider the older generation, but as someone in her late 40s who listened to punk, I wasn’t offended when I saw later saw the performance. There have always been controversies surrounding music and musical performances, and music has been associated with sexuality at least as far back as the ancient Greeks. In other words, Lambert did nothing unusual.

I KNOW I’m in the “older generation” – I’m 61 – and I remember seeing Elvis only being shown on TV from the waist up. His hips were too subversive! LOL To ME there was nothing offensive in Adam’s AMA show, except the bad sound feed to the networks. My 83 yr old mother WAS offended by the kiss, even tho she’s always loved Adam. Today she got up to watch Adam on CBS and thought he was wonderful! She said he made you feel like you were right there! It’s not old people Emme, it’s narrow-minded, bigoted, stupid people – of every age. They’re all probably tea-baggers and birthers too. Too bad you can’t legislate intelligence!

      • JB

So you’re a 61 year old who lives at home with your 83 year old mother. NOW all your comments insulting other posters are starting to make more sense. Why do you give the old interwebs a break, gramps? Look! – there’s a big bag of Werther’s Originals right over there and it’s got your name on it.

I’m glad that Adam admitted he got a little carried away. I think he was nervous and wanted to really wow people, but being on a live televised show is a little different than performing in small intimate clubs in LA, where this kind of a performance is welcomed. I think he realizes that now and will adjust his future performances. He is a great talent and should have much success.

  • kristy

yes he’s a good singer n all but janets boob flashing was an accident were as his was intentional and i do remember the big commotion that it caused. i just think it was a little over the top. the guys face was in his crotch not to mention that he looked he had a hard on in some of the shots. does anybody see anything wrong with that? its not about being gay straight bi its about censorship. does the gay community need anymore bad press?

  • andrea d

I can understand Adam not considering children- he was performing at 11pm on a school night!!!!
Anyway, he was the Adam I love this morning- he sang beautifully, and ROCKED his outfit.

BTW, any “parental councils” going to get their pants in a twist over Robin Williams stating (on a morning show no less) that he and John Travolta once got drunk and crashed a “black wedding”?

  • Mandi

I am on the West Coast and can’t wait to see Adam perform this morning. I also sent a complaint to ABC/GMA for canceling his appearance. All the nasty comments about him on these blogs just shows that these people are extremely homophobic. They always say “I don’t care that he’s gay but…” of course you care that he is gay. This is what the whole controversy is about. It isn’t because your “children” saw him, it’s because YOU saw him do it. You want your homosexuals to stay in the closet and not be out and proud like Adam. I hope this whole ridiculous controversy ends soon and that Adam is allowed to continue entertaining his fans which there are still a lot of us out here that will sing his praises loud enough to over power your hateful, pious and whiny comments. OK, I feel better now.

  • Sandy

I think Adam went to far on the music awards also but he will do great. I’m buying his cd

  • Leigh

Please, give the guy a break. He’s been buffeted back and forth – too gay – not gay enough. He’s still finding his way. Nice man and terrific singer. Album is wonderful and marvelously entertaining in its variety. He’s learned – no one’s perfect.

    • Colleen

THIS!!! He might have been a seasoned theatre performer, but he is the first to go down the path to superstardom as a openly gay man. I am with him every step he takes!

  • Darryl Nelson

Seriously?????? Is this still a topic that we have to discuss. Who really cares??
There are many other things in this world that go on that are more important. This is why racism and ignorance is still prevalent in America.

    • Tagrid

I agree Darryl – but it is what it is – get used to it. Until the subject dies out (probably next week) it will continue being talked about. But YOU don’t have to, if YOU don’t want to. (OHHH I just WISH there was some way to overcome ignorance in America! Education can’t do it. If someone doesn’t WANT to be educated, they won’t be!)

  • kelly

you guys act like youre music critics.

    • Cat

Music is subjective. You either like it or you don’t. There’s no wrong answer. I, for one, think Adam’s album is a pop rock masterpiece.

      • Christine

I completely agree with you, Cat. He’s not everyone’s cup of tea but for those of us who get him and appreciate him, Adam is an incredible performer and singer.

      • I-Man

I agree with Cat. All forms of art are designed for people to view and give their opinions or critique not facts.

  • Eric

Not up to Adam to “parent” children… Don’t disneyfy rock ‘n roll…

    • Jube

      Yeah to you Eric! Exactly.

  • James (Straight guy in Canada)

Ahem–Lets go back to 2003′s VMA’s-Madonna, Britney Spears & Christina Aguilera and the not-so-infamous-anymore kiss. Everyone was talking about that for a couple of weeks and now it’s barely remembered. Lets also remember Super Bowl XXXVIII’s Janet and Justin incident, when is the last time you heard anything mentioned about it. Sh!t happens, get over it. This was no more raunchy than a lot of the video’s on MTV. OMG a guy kissed a guy on TV. Who cares! If kids are old enough to listen to the music and watch the videos played on the music video TV networks, then they already know about homosexuality. If the parents don’t know already, they’re fooling themselves.

  • Dolly

Lambert’s vocals were bad, and dancing was worse. If you choose to grope other people’s crotches and force their faces to yours, you should at least do it on beat to the music.

    • Colleen

if you choose to criticize someone else, you should do at least do it with proper grammar.

      • _

        Colleen,

You really should capitalize the first letter in a sentence.
