On 'Good Morning America,' Barbara Walters to Sarah Palin's kids: 'How do you feel when people criticize Mommy?' Ick...

Sarah Palin says that when it comes to Sarah Palin, “there’s so much bullcrap out there.” Then she and Barbara Walters contributed to the pile. I’m not surprised Palin had Walters interview her for Good Morning America; who else would have asked this question?:

“How do you feel when people criticize Mommy?”

Willow, 15 and Piper, eight years old, had been ushered onto a sofa next to “Mommy” for part of the interview. They squirmed a bit, as who would not?

“It’s kind of sad,” said Willow.

“Painful?” prodded Walters. Objection: leading the witness, your honor!

“Yeah,” sighed Willow, giving up.

Palin repeated a lot of the things she said on Oprah yesterday while promoting her book Going Rogue, out today. That running for President “isn’t on my radar”; more whining about Katie Couric’s “badgering” interview.

Asked by Walters to grade, on a scale from one to 10, President Obama’s performance in office so far, Palin assigned him “a four.”

Palin said she’d been offered “reality shows,” but turned them down. When asked by Walters whether she wants a talk show, Palin said, “I’d probably rather write than talk.” Oprah had asked her the same thing; are Winfrey and Walters really worried about the competition?

Walters showed Palin a David Letterman clip making fun of the former governor, and asked whether Palin would go on Dave’s show. “I don’t want to boost his ratings,” she said. (Note: This is not the clip Walters played Palin, but, from last night’s Late Show, it’s just as amusing.)

What do you think of Palin’s media blitz so far?

Sadly, Sarah Palin’s “success” (as in, the coverage she continuously receives despite contributing absolutely nothing worthwhile to society) is further proof of America’s obsession with half-wits.

    • AmyK

MindB, I agree with everything you said except I wouldn’t give her even that much credit. How about no-wits??

Everytime she opens her mouth something stupid is bound to come out. Her latest words of wisdom? She recently claimed that Obama moved the words “In God We Trust” to the edge of coins when in fact it was Bush who did that.

      • MindB

I was feeling a bit benevolent this morning, but you’re right–half-wit is giving her way too much credit.

    • mb

LOL, why give her so much credit

      • ratatooey

How on earth does Barbara “The Crypt Keeper” Walters continue to be relevant in this day and age?????
Oprah already got the 1st interview so anything this old dinosaur did was tepid leftovers. She should have been put out to pasture years ago!!!!!!

    • PHD

      agreed

    • Chris

MindB – I couldn’t have said it better myself.

  • Dwight Schrute

Sadly, liberals screeching about Sarah Palin is further proof of their need to get a life.

    • AmyK

Sadly, anyone who posts on message boards defending morons needs to find a life themselves!

      • KEH

What are you talking about no one here is defending you.. :)

Some actually have a clue about what Palin did as Governor of the state Alaska.. including cleaning up corruption in her own party, and getting more out of the Oil Companies for the resources they get from Alaska.

Yet we have a president that doesn’t know how many states the US has off the top if his head..and brought his local corruption to the nation.

Palin muffed that CBS interview.. and was not ready for the mud slinging game of national Politics.. Anyone who thinks this woman is a Moron is themselves at best not well informed.

      • sara

to KEH – wow. If you think that Sarah Palin is anything but a complete and utter moron after the mountain of evidence she has laid before us all, then you have some serious issues. Not to mention an IQ pretty much on par with said moron.

    • MindB

Ah yes, exercising our rights to express our freedom of speech and criticize a political figure. How dare us “screeching liberals.” I assume you sit idly by and say nothing about liberals. Oh wait, no. You just did. Way to prove your point!

    • Stewie

Right. Because all Rush and Hannity and Beck O’Reilly and all of Fox News talk about all day is the weather.

  • Cherie

Instead of asking a former governor a worth question she asked her questions that you would find in a rag like Star Mag. Come on Barbara, is that how you want to be treated? Do you want people asking you about your sex life or your plastic surgurys? REALLY WHAT A MESS. Shame on people that are so disrespectful, she was just wanting to serve her country and you? what have you done for your country today Barbara? NOTHING!

    • Sallie

Barbara Walters has been the softball queen for many, many years now. I always get the feeling she wants to be friends with everyone she interviews so she doesn’t dare upset them.

    • Sara

I’m not a Palin fan, but yes Barbara Walters’ brain has turned to mush. I can barely stand to watch her when she’s on the View.

      • 9

God, you and me both Sara!!!!!

  • Sarah Sachs

Well, she is getting media attention so her plan is working..

    • Jenna

Yup,agreed. In a matter of hours this post will have exploded with hundred over comments.

  • babs

It’s so funny it’s sad that Palin would rather “write” than talk, considering her book was ghost-written. This is regardless of the fact that she usually can’t form a complete and intelligible sentence.

    • Rock Golf

Yeah, when she answered “I’d rather write than talk” I would’ve love Babs to ask “Then why didn’t you?”

    • m

if you took all the books off the shelves that had ghost writers how many do you think you’d have left?? everyone who writes about themselves have ghost writers!! right barbara?? people are so ignorant…UGH!!

    • Terry

Nor can she name a single newspaper or magazine, nor a book she’s ever read. There’s a word lover for you.

  • B

Another example of straightforward, unbiased reporting from an entertainment reporter. I look forward to more political reporting from Entertainment Weekly. I don’t even like Sarah Palin, but I don’t need someone who’s writing is limited to stories about Jon and Kate Plus Eight to tell me what they think about the political scene. I think we get enough of that from Fox and MSNBC. Now, back to telling Miley Cyrus stories you go.

    • anne

      Standing Ovation, B.

  • Bawbwa Waltas

Sawah Pawin, inqwuiring minds want to know. Do you weawy see Wussia fwom your house and can you stwike it with your assault wifle when going out aewial wolf hunting?

    • cranky

      ha!!!

    • Bawbwa Waltas

Cwanky. What are your thoughts of Sawah Pawins ability to see Wussia fwom her house and how will it effect Amewica’s domestic and gwobol magazine pewiodicals she had wead?

  • Mic

I have never seen such hatred towards a public person in my life. A lot of people are clearly threatened by Sarah Palin to attack her with such venom. If people really just thought she was dim witted, they would dismiss her and go on, instead on continually attacking her.

    • mac

Well, Hilary Clinton was treated much the same in the mid-90′s. It’s nice to see that the left, instead of taking the high road, has decided that hitting even lower is the way to go. Moral high ground, my foot.

And definitely way to make your bias towards Palin herself perfectly clear, Mr. Tucker. is it possible to comment on the quality of the interview without your article being more about your personal feelings as regards the subject of the interview?

      • GinaBallerina

I’ve read several of Ken’s articles and, no, it’s not possible for him. Putting the word mommy in quotes, really? Is Sarah not their mom? This is what Republicans mean when we say journalism is dead. You put the nail in the coffin, Ken.

    • Carlene

Thank you MIC, you go girl! LOL

I did not vote for Sarah but I respect her as a woman and a working mom. As I myself am a workign mom with 4 kids in high school I can tell ya its not easy! Keep supporting your kids and doing your job Sarah, that is all I ask!

  • chris

She is SO BEAUTIFUL. That’s all that matters in Hollyweird. Right?

  • Furry1968

I wish Barbara would ask the Obama girls what they think about Ms. Palin calling their dad a man who “pals around with terrorists.”

    • dgh

What would you call William Ayers???

    • rblrdr

And she could also ask the Obama girls how they feel about their father being in favor of a Health Care plan that creates “death panels” for the purpose of killing off grandparents and disabled children. Palin is a hypocrite.

    • Ken

Well, he does, (did) you fool.

  • Jon

Sarah Palin is the greatest thing to happen to the Democratic party. It’s a complete “Being There” situation. She stumbled into the spotlight and now she has Presidential ambitions. It’s too bizarre to really comprehend. It’s the nu-American story.

  • bw

Sarah Palin is a class act! I’m glad she is finally setting the record straight. I don’t find that she’s whining at all. It’s amusing the way the MSM including the bozo that wrote this article, continues to bash her by saying she’s whining. However when it’s someone else they are just “telling their side”. I hope she does throw her hat in the political arena. She’s smart and represents the working American. I look forward to seeing more of her.

    • Brooke

      Don’t insult the working American.

    • Gadgetgal

To say that Sara Palin is smart is an insult to truly intelligent women. I think everyone has the right to tell their side of story but only if they actually have their facts correct.

  • Ugly Jenny

I like Sarah Palin, clearly Mr. Ken Tucker does not, it obvious from his writings. If people are so disgusted and have such a dislike for her then why continue to criticize. If she really was that incompetent of a person then she would simply be dismissed. I don’t agree with President Obama on practically everything, but I don’t criticize him at every chance I get from the comfort of my computer.

    • Lara

Well, she does seem to be pretty broadly dismissed by a great many people

  • Amanda

I challenge any of you Palin haters to try and say that Vice President Biden is somehow smarter than she is or that President Obama somehow had more experience than she did at the time of the 2008 elections.

    • GinaBallerina

Wow, no takers yet? How surprising, NOT! I would love to hear this, too. I have never understood the “she’s not experienced” argument.” Really, and Obama was?!

      • RONI

no takers when the truth is the truth…..we are seeing first-hand the results of inexperienced leaders and the left is just trying to ignore by bashing on palin, even women which is the saddest thing i have seen as a woman in my lifetime, what happened to women supporting each other? i see palin takes the high road on that one as she supports clinton and never bashes, something all of the fickle and jealous women of america should learn from….quit watching the view people!!!! so angry

    • Kaye

“Joe Biden is smarter than Sarah Palin and Barack Obama had more experience in the national political arena than she did at the time of the election.” :D

  • dgh

EW.com you guys have a hard enough time following entertainment you should leave politics to the professionals at MSNBC!!
