Do you watch the videos that YouTube recommends for you? (These ones it picked for me are... unsettling)

When I go to the YouTube homepage, I don’t often look at the “Recommended For You” videos that YouTube has so kindly selected for me. But I looked at the assortment this morning, and I wonder just who YouTube thinks I am.

“Spicy Padma!”??

Okay, I do watch Top Chef, so I guess that makes sense, but this clip only reminds be how irritated I am with the celebrities this season who hobble the challenges with their no-meat, no-wheat, no-flavor diets. (Natalie Portman in this clip; Zooey Deschanel’s incredibly annoying, just-some-pocket-lint-with-protein-please restrictions.)

But this is the clip YouTube thought I’d be most interested in this morning. WARNING: BAD LANGUAGE:

I don’t know anything about cars; I’m not in the market for one. Maybe YouTube thought it would appeal to some inner rage in me I wasn’t aware of. In any case, weird… and kind of vintage-interesting. Thanks, YouTube.

Do you ever watch the YouTube videos it “recommends”?

I hate those! They are so random and it makes me go back and wonder what I’ve watched on youtube to warrant the suggestions. Right now mine’s a mix of middle eastern music videos, women’s gymnastics with a splash of NCIS thrown in for good measure.

I’m surprised Youtube didn’t recommend “best of Jon and Kate” for Mr. Tucker.

i watch them sometimes. i think that youtube knows me well, lol. it’s usually right on target with what i’m searching for. right now my recommendations are a mix of milo and otis, little people big world, and arthur, which is what i searched for earlier today.

Ha! I actually was just telling someone abt the weird selections I sometimes get. Most of them I understand but the “Prostate Health” and weird “How I got my scar” videos…um no

I didn’t find the concept of either Zoey’s or Natalie’s episodes annoying at all. If anything the almost complete lack of creativity in the kitchen is what made Natalie’s episode sink. But I guess these eps are more geared towards the foodies out there and not casual viewers.

Didn’t Zooey require special foods because of glutten allergy? I don’t think, then, that she is entirely to blame for her dietary requirements. That statement came off as really ignorant. Besides, if the chefs can’t deal with vegetarian food, then they must not be that talented.

Suite Life of Zack and Cody clips, a UFC fighter jumping out of a pool and a Tony Rich Project video. I have no idea (well maybe I do for the last one:) )

“Girls 12 and Under Medley Relay” popped up today and made me feel like a total perv.

I once looked up a song called ‘Weighty Ghost’ (great song, by the way). Now I constantly get clips of “ghosts” caught on surveillance tape.

      haha. that’s funny.

I generally ignore them but have been turned on to some pretty interesting music that way. I click a few of those links a week and sometimes it’s a nice surprise.
