'South Park' last night: Trying to make 'The F Word' okay, and beating up Emmanuel Lewis

South Park tried to teach us a lesson last night, and lesson-teaching is something a TV show should usually try to avoid, because it usually Read the full post.

You, Mr. Tucker, obviously didn’t understand the message of the episode at all. The point is that the definition that the liberal media (you) propogates on words and the way that we (the People) define and use words are two different things. Why are you so small-minded to believe that “fag” can only be a reference to gays? I hear people using that word ALL the time in Chicago and they’re NEVER talking about gays. Do yourself a favor and cease commenting on that which you don’t understand.

Everyone who is offended by South Park are fags….no not gay, they’re fags. I am a Christian and the only reason I can watch South Park without shutting it off is because I know it is just a show that is meant to be funny, not hurtful. They rip on Christians in most episodes, but I don’t change the channel, because they also rip on everyone else. If they didn’t make fun of a group it would mean that that group is somehow different and needs special treatment…..and I thought everyone wanted equality. Well, if you want equality you must be able to laugh at this show. If one thing is wrong to say on TV than everything is wrong to say on TV. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing that we should embrace and not speak out against.

Chris Rock did a similar routine about the word “f–” in his HBO special, Kill The Messenger (2008).

“It’s not always about the word; it’s about the CONTEXT in which the word is said.”

Plus, definitions change frequently, especially for colloquial words. The words “colored” and “negro” were proudly used by prominent African-Americans before White supremacists changed them into slurs. The song “Yankee Doodle” was originally a British song insulting the American colonists.

You have to be cultured enough to recognize the social nuances in different situations and be prepared to discuss and revise conflicting interpretations at any time. That’s a necessary part of any interaction.

One of the funniest SP’s ever. I’d have to guess your sense of humour has been damaged by too much exposure to exhaust noise. Everyone I know had to call me to tell me about the SP show. People were in convulsions of laughter. You, dude, are clueless.

Loosen up, Ken and stop taking things so seriously. I thought it was another direct hit for Trey and Matt. Keep it going guys!

    Fag.

  • chester copperpot

It was funny. If you dont think so then you’re a fag.

  • ArchAngel

I agree with Jesus, you are a complete fag Ken, plain and simple. If you are going to take offense to a South Park episode then you are just the biggest retard to ever steal oxygen from this great earth. The show isn’t supposed to be serious jackass. Learn to live your life and lighten the hell up and spend your time on things that actually matter. Fag.

  • Queef

The episode was not about the “f” word alone. Underneath their line of reasoning was how the situation is analogous with some modern usages of the “n” word. (Hence, why they called the episode “The F Word.”)

I wouldn’t normally comment, however effective this south park episode actually is, their intent is clear to see, and t really got what it was about, respect

  • The Geezer

I couldn’t disagree with you more. I think this was one of the funniest South Park episodes ever.
