When I saw “attacks” I expected it was going to be Hasselbot attacking Ian for being openly gay! But the dumb b*tch probably isn’t even aware of it. And quite frankly, she just has no class whatsoever – imagine attacking a knighted theater legend about nationalized healthcare when he just wants to promote a movie!
THIS is why so many people do not like Elisabeth: she’s a TERRIBLE host (not to mention shrill, humorless and grating), and it’s not because she’s a conservative Republican! The poor guy was going on there to promote his work, not to get into a debate over government-run health care. Ian is not a politician, pundit or doctor, so why goad him into a political debate regarding health care? Talk about him! I imagine if there was a “TV Hosting 101″ course, this is what they would teach on day one.
I’m British and not only did Ms Hasselbeck sound incredibly ignorant about something she clearly knows little about, she was outrageously rude to her guest. If the people defending her cannot see why she was bang out of order, they need an etiquette lesson (to quote Frasier Crane).
My goodness, I can’t stand Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Was a health care debate absolutely necessary? One of the most respected actors in the world goes on your show to promote his work, and she has the never to grill him about his country’s health care system? If she doesn’t like it, then she doesn’t have to move there! She’s so disrespectful.
As for Sherri and Whoopi, come on. If you’re going to have a guest on your show, it is you job and duty to be informed about him or her. Isn’t that rule #1 for being a TV host? Harry Potter? MagNETTO? Seriously? That was pathetic and rude.
Absolutely it’s their job to know which movies he’s in. Unprofessional.
Incredible to think that Sir Ian Mckellen, one (if not THE) best actor alive right now has wasted I don’t know how much of his time talking rubbish to a grape of clueless banchees… :-/ I don’t know what A&E were thinking when they sent him there…
I am sorry to say this time Elizabeth has gone too far. She browbeat Sir Ian about a subject that was not even the reason he came on the program for. He only had about 3 sec.to tell about The Prisioner. I think I will be starting my day with another network. She needs to go.. she is so rude
hasselback hasselback hasselback.
why is it just hasselback? Yes she was a class 1 arse to Sir McKellen…
but for someone who is in the same career (Whoopi did do movies at one point and time)… she should have been prepared to make sure to give him credit for the right show.
what, do all british white people look alike?
and it was just stupid to mispronounce such an easy character name.
all of the ladies were having PMS or meno today.
And I agree with you.. I think the whole show is idiotic… but let’s see, whoppi and cheri made a fool of themselves by not being a bit familiar with his work.. but on the other hand, that blond breather attacked him for no reason at all, so yeah she takes the cake for being the bigger tool
You know, I find it interesting that everyone’s jumping on Hasselbeck’s case when she merely inquired whether or not he’d received the vaccine. He commented about nationalized healthcare, and Joy, if I’m not mistaken, asked her to reiterate her thoughts on it.
And, in the case of universal healthcare, I’d like to know how many of you that obviously support it, and disagree with Hasselbeck, are actually without healthcare? If you aren’t, you’re obviously taking advantage of healthcare provided to you (whether through a job, privately, etc.), and, therefore, are not part of universal healthcare’s “target audience”. I myself don’t have healthcare, but hearing the word “free” doesn’t make me jump up and down with joy at the mere idea of universal healthcare, because I know there has to be another answer to the healthcare problem. Universal healthcare, just because it will be provided for everyone at a low (or non-existent) rate does not make it the best change. Has anyone thought about the possible decrease in the quality of care? Or how about the amount of debt that universal healthcare will cause our country?
I think before anyone jumps on Hasselbeck’s case, they might want to look at their own comments. She’s entitled to her own opinion, and, yes, this may not have been the time for it, but I got the feeling that she was ready to move on to discussing McKellen’s work before Joy asked her about her thoughts on healthcare.
All the hosts were pathetic in this case. Joy instigates this whole fiasco with Hasselback, then just sits back and does nothing about it! Like she did with Rosie, another gay visitor unlucky enough to be on this show! What a mess.
Watched it today, I felt sorry for whoopi, after sir Ian corrected her she humbly apologised unlike that little blonde bimbo, Elizabeth who made snide remarks about the british health care system which allows every citizen of that country free health care and affordable prescription drugs,
I am British but I live in Canada now and I still have the privilage of having free health care. I wonder if Elizabeth Hasselbeck would be as quick to comment on such things if she herself couldn’t afford the expensive insurance fees I am sure she is paying so that she and her family can have health care.
“Ms. Hasselbeck, is it true you’ve recently been treated for diahrrea of the mouth?”
So true, poor Ian McKellen. He deserves so much better.
Hahaha! I did not know Elizabeth was on Survivor. I’m glad I missed that season. It also explains why she is so stupid.
