What should Adrian Pasdar's next project be?

As my colleague Michael “The Master” Ausiello has reported, Adrian Pasdar is leaving Heroes. Which raises the question, what should he do next? I’d rather not see him stuck as a supporting player on another courtroom drama, as he was for years on Judging Amy. (Um, not that I watched Judging Amy.)

I’d kinda love it if someone hugely creative proposed a remake of Pasdar’s brilliant-but-cancelled 1996-97 series Profit, the great, strange John McNamara show about a super-eccentric, ruthless businessman:

(Maybe some Lost producer wants to tackle this after Lost disappears?)

Should Pasdar try for a period drama? I’ll bet Pasdar looked at Mad Men when it first premiered and said, “Damn, I wish I was Don Draper!”

Or should Pasdar do the try-a-different-genre thing that revitalizes careers (see: Ted Danson goes from sitcoms to Damages and ka-boom! — his stock goes through the roof).

That would probably mean: Adrian Pasdar, sitcom star. Time to take a meeting with Chuck Lorre, Adrian.

What sort of role would you like to see Pasdar in?

So, just thinking, it is possible we have romantized vampires too much recently and we need a return to when Angel was the only one to trust but only because he had a soul (oh and that guy from Forever Night) and have him play a grown up version of that guy in that movie he was in when he was younger because what else would a seventeen year old who had briefly been a vampire and whose father saved him in the nick of time do because hunt down the undead who were not good guys. Heck, there is the girl too similarly saved. There is no realize it couldn’t have the comedic tones that Buffy or Veronica Mars had.

Anything that lets him wear pajama bottoms on a more frequent basis.

    • E

      Yes! All for it :P

    • Wickeddoll

Did you forget that in “Profit” he was nekked?

      • Em

        Will never forget…

    • Claire

Agreed – anything where he is not required to wear a shirt :)

    • Kelly

      I like this idea

  • Sarah

Give him some green contacts, scruff up his hair and maybe he can be Alcide Herveaux on True Blood?

    • denisef

AHHHHH!!! Great idea! Why didn’t I think of that?

      • Kayde_Lyn

Pasdar on True Blood STAT!!! Can that cast get any more beautiful!!?? YES!!!

    • Em

I love Adrian Pasdar, but he’s not the right age for Alcide. Alcide is in his twenties to early thirties. Adrian P is AWESOME, but let’s keep it age-appropriate…

  • Monica

I think he should join the cast of Brothers and Sisters as new man for Sarah.

  • znachki

Ken – I’d kinda love that too!
Profit was an amazing show, and for those of you who haven’t seen it, I urge you to do so right now.
He really was underserved in Heroes, and I really that someone gets him a show. Whatever it is.

  • JamesTKirk

    PROFIT was AWESOME

    • Ladyli1

I pass my copy of the series on to everyone I know. That reminds me that I need to get it back!

  • bondfool

Almost everyone in Heroes’ cast deserves better than the show they’re in.

Maybe a role on Damages or In Treatment for him.

    • tam

      Indeed. That poor cast.

    • Erin

Oooh, In Treatment. I like that suggestion a lot.

  • Kyle

please not Dancing with the Stars – that would be the kiss of death for most serious actors

  • Stacy

Um Judging Amy was awesome…i never watched it live but ate up the reruns in synication. He was more then a background supporter when their relationship took off towards the end. And it was hisd role in Judging Amy that first got me liking him as an actor.

  • Roger

I wouldn’t mind seeing him in Fringe.

  • E

A remake of Profit would be awesome! I want to see him star in a show, rather than be a supporting player.

  • Andy

Convince his wife to make more music ;) I really miss the Dixie Chicks.

    • Ken Tucker

Andy, I like this Dixie Chicks idea. There’s Pasdar’s sitcom: he plays the husband to a superstar country act that’s always getting into wacky trouble: It’s like “I Love Lucy” meets “Nashville”! (P.S. I could do with some new Dixie Chicks music, too.)

      • Wickeddoll

You are not well. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

      • Laura

If this is a sign of not being well, I’ll take some of that illness! I would definately watch Ken’s show-could be a winner!

      • Ladyli1

That idea is too funny, sooo it could work.

  • smryan23

Anything! as long as he is on TV. Personally though, I wouldn’t be suprised if he goes the way of other heroes alums and pops up on Glee. LOL

  • Wickeddoll

Count me among those who want a revival of ‘Profit”! WAY underrated show.

  • conor O’Brien

let him take over Private Practice, that show needs a man’s man on that show, and have him hook up with Kate Walsh’s ‘Addison’

  • Lori

True Blood, if we can’t have “Profit” back. I think he would make a great addition to TB, though.

    • E

Yeah, I’d vote Alcide if it has to be an existing show.

  • camsea

He should join the new comedy sitcom staring david tenant (dr who). apparently its called rex is not your lawyer. comedy would be a great change for him, and its with the doctor! awesome!!!

  • Myndrunner

I’d like to see him as a new character on Mad Men!

  • Vicky

I love the idea of putting him on one of my fave shows!! I think he’d do well on Brothers and Sisters but he’s probably too similar in looks to Rob Lowe and I’d love him on Fringe but it’s already pretty male dominated…Where can he go? He’s so great!!!

  • AJ

Friday Night Lights, Caprica, or V.

Wouldn’t mind seeing him on a comedy either.

  • maryb

Thank you for always bringing up Profit. A very underrated show and a favorite of mine.

  • Anne

OMG, I would love to see a re-boot of Profit with him again in the starring role; that show was brilliant but wasn’t given a chance to develop (as usual Hollywood)! As others have suggested, anyone who hasn’t seen this show should seek it out and help demand it be brought back!

  • tam

I’m totally on board with Adrian on Mad Men. Given his vintage looks and Nathan’s once-smarmy politician attitude, he pretty much belongs at Sterling Cooper.

  • John

Because of the Heroes connection, I’d love to see him in one of the new projects that Bryan Fuller is developing!

  • Lindsay Coleman

Pasdar is fantastic. I still can’t believe he isn’t a massive star in film as well. In all honesty Pasdar deserves a vehicle to highlight his subtle acting skill. Whether it is a cop, lawyer, or dcctor I want the man to win an emmy!

  • Rinka

Actually, my favorite was when he played Declan on Mysterious Ways. The Indiana Jones mode suited him.

  • Jamie

I could see guest spots on a show like Burn Notice or Fringe. Even multi episode arcs on either of those series

  • hope

good luck to him to whatever he chooses to do I’ll miss him though maybe someday he’ll be on something I can see with pleasure=)

  • Riley

Personally, even though it’s not the highest rated show in the world but one of my absolute faves, I think he’d rock as a 3-4 episode arc as a big baddie on Chuck. Flex those comic muscles while looking dapper and riffing with Zachary Levi. Yum.

  • I Might Just

Big question: can he do comedy? I love AP as much as the next fan, but I’ve seen all his movies and not one is a comedy. Just for the record.

    • AJ

Going by his stunt on Desperate Housewives in 2005, I’d say he can – and pretty well at that.

    • ToriBella

He did Mystic Pizza and that was a comedy

      • dublin04

        Mystic Pizza? Are you sure?
