'Dexter' recap: 'If I Had A Hammer,' it would be bloody

Well, those marriage-therapy sessions on this week’s Dexter were almost as painful as enduring a seat on the analyst’s sofa yourself, didn’t you think? Oh, Read the full post.

And I will say that as much as Rita is whiny, that girl is loyal. Notice how she didnt over-react to seeing Dex smash the crap out of his neighbor’s lights. And despite her lingering questions over her ex’s accusations, especially after finding that shoe, she’s still 100% behind her man. She might be annoying as heck, but at least she has his “back”.

I don’t know, Quinn seems more capable of killing someone then Anton. Perhaps there’s a past history with Lundy they haven’t alluded to yet.

Outside of the Trinity and Deb scenes (which were excellent), I wasn’t too enthralled by this episode. The Batista-LaGuarta subplot has gone around in circles, and how they ended their relationship felt contrived, like middle school drama (per the words from their superior). As for Dexter’s therapy session with Rita and how they resolved their marriage problems, it was a ‘huh?’ moment. Exactly who buys the ‘I need space’ excuse as a quick fix? That killed any realistic build-up their problems could’ve evolved into.
Season 4 started off strong, but I hope it doesn’t go into a slow lull with Trinity until the last few episodes (which was season 3′s biggest problem).

The toolshed is a part of Dex’s evolution, which will come full circle and lead us back to where we started.(you can’t run the AC all the time in Miami LOL) The Trinity tub scene was brilliant. Trin is stuck in a loop, but has pulled his wife into the loop to save his family.(just as Dexter is trying to do). These guys will end up at the genesis. Deb finds out everything, but gives dex a pass thinking it’s a 1 time event.(she lets dex kill Trinity to avenge Lundy, and cuz he has recreated the trinity ie: dex’s stepdaugter in a tub, Rita takes a leap.) Dex and Trin first play cat and mouse, then can’t finish each other off.they see each in the other. Dexter considers letting trin off the hook (ala the teenage knifer who was raped ) but then the Trin monster comes out with the Dex family trinity. Dex is the bigger monster, and then kills Trin.(Trin blinks, and the doubt gets him in the end) Deb will leave Law Enforcement next season, doubting her objectivity. as for the Baby and the Stepson, have nothing yet. (just took my aderral) LOL

Although I think Julie Benz is both beautiful and talented, I agree that Rita has been extremely annoying this season. However, I feel she is necessary for the show. Together with Deb and the kids, Rita represents Dex’s struggle for humanity. She allows us to love and root for a serial killer. Seeing him with his family has just given me more reasons to care about this wonderful character. I feel that doing away with Rita would be a huge mistake for the future of the series.

Rita may be necessary to the show, but I much prefer her in smaller doses. The woman worships suburban conformity.
I actually like Deb this season. She’s standing on her own two feet, instead of getting Dexter to do all her thinking for her the way she did in the first couple of seasons. I have more respect for her.

My 3rd ALL-TIME favorite television show!!!!

If you don’t have Showtime, you must rent DEXTER!

Lila is the best villain, but John Lithgow is amazing.

A little late but… Debra’s scene where she breaks down in front of Dexter… Best work of acting I have ever seen in my life. I was moved to tears myself… Makes you wonder what’s going on in the head of Jenifer to allow those emotions to come out. Kudos on the great blog writing BTW.
