'South Park' and 'Whale Whores': Lady Gaga and Entertainment Weekly harpooned, er, lampooned

Last night, South Park had its usual tartly sarcastic way (by which I mean “delightfully savage ridicule”) with save-the-whales conservationists, cable-TV nature shows, Lady Gaga, Read the full post.

I’ve just watch this episode online and I loved it!!!
Cartman’s version of Poker Face made me laugh more than anything I can remember!

  • Hail the empire

I hope they made a Japanese version of the episode. BTW This song is second to Cartman’s version of “Heat of the moment”.

They need to make fun of her even more. I do wish they had tied Willzyx in the story by cutting to him decaying on the moon with some subtle guilt from the rest after learning in school that whales don’t live on the moon.

  • Malcolm J. Brenner

That WAS a documentary, wasn’t it?

    POKER FACE! GOOD SHOW!

  • Jackie

Great episode! The Japanese should be ashamed of their transparent plundering of the ocean ecosystem. Everyone should boycott Japanese products.

    • Liberty

Eco people must not very bright, the whole episode is about not being a bigot by judging what Japanese people fish and eat. The whole mentality that you know what’s better for the planet and an island nation is close minded, ill informed, reactionary & completely silly.

      • MSteff

        I disagree with you Liberty.

While the organization Sea Shepherd is lampooned, the barbaric Japanese killing of whales and dolphins was not. I loved the end where they showed the hypocracy of eating cows and chickens, but the difference between the two is that cows and chickens aren’t endangered and are killed as humanely as possible.

Disclaimer: I’m a vegan so I don’t eat cows, chickens, whales or dolphins. :-)

Wait a minute, how can you say the Japanese were not lampooned? My God! They were in kimonos with spears screaming “Fukka Youwhale!” and blaming them for the Hiroshima bombings based on a fake photo! Please, EVERYONE got lampooned, and everyone deserved it!

    • Miske

Liberty is incorrect. Liberty while being hypocritical, accuses a whole group people of not being bright and bigoted, and then goes on to say that, that group is close minded and ill informed as well. Liberty are you sure you weren’t describing your own characteristics here. Great South Park Episode, “South Park, if your not offended your not watching.”

      • Fergin

While liberty’s comments may be a bit rude, they are not incorrect. The whole scene where the events of Hiroshima are described simply point to one claim: who are we as a culture to pass judgement on the violent activities of others when our culture has committed such atrocities in the past? Over 140,000 people killed that day in Hiroshima… and now we’re telling them how to hunt.

      • Stinger

“Over 140,000 people killed that day in Hiroshima… and now we’re telling them how to hunt.”

So I guess you are not familiar with the atrocities committed by the Japanese during WW2?

Just because of Hiroshima, they are now allowed to do anything they want, no matter what the international laws say?

absolute classic sheer genius ridicule and awesome political satire

This episode was probably one of the really good episodes of south park that came in a long time.it made fun of almost everyone including the American public. at end, when Japanese were killing the cows and hens, “Stan’s Dad” responded, “now they’re normal like us” basically showing the double-standard in our way of thinking.

    • Stinger

““now they’re normal like us” basically showing the double-standard in our way of thinking.”

It’s insane to compare killing whales and dolphins to eating chicken and cows. There’s a difference.

Should the Africans be allowed to hunt the elephants, tigers, lions etc. into extinction just because it’s their “tradition”? After all, we eat chicken?

Why not kill all gorillas, rhinos, seals, snow leopards, pandas, polar bears etc. and eat them or sell their body parts, that must be someone’s tradition as well? Let’s kill everything until there’s nothing left to kill.
