I have to agree that most Tyler Perry films are redundant! The Madea character is unnecessary and over the top. Based on the majority of the posts that i’ve read here…if i did’nt know any better it would be safe for me to assume that ALL BLACK PEOPLE IN THE SOUTH ACT AS IGNORANT AS MADEA! Spike is a far better story teller than Tyler will ever be. Spike’s biggest critics have always been black folks and that always puzzled me. Name the three top grossing TP films and they could’nt stand up to the three top SL films in terms of content, character, cinematography and overall delivery. Tyler….it’s time to put Madea and the rest of the chitterlin circuit to rest and start getting serious. You’re much too talented. Your work is primitive at best and i know you’re afraid of alienating a certain segment of your fanbase but it’s time to broaden your horizon. We as black folks deserve…hell we DEMAND more from you! we know you’re capable of doing better!

I can accurately predict the script for the next Tyler Perry production! It will go something like this….A young black woman with two or three kids( out of wedlock of course) living in a rural southern city is being abused verbally and physically by her live in boyfriend. About halfway through the film, she meets a young successful black man who appears like a knight in shining armor and sweeps her off of her feet. he drops everything and proceeds to move her and her three children into his mansion and they all go to church and live happily ever after. of course madea will make her required contractual appearances and proceed to shoot-up a party or be involved in a high speed police chase or beat up her husband who will no doubt be carrying that SAME oxygen tank and be sitting in the living room with those SAME overalls on! Sound familiar people???? Does to me ecause that’s been the basis of 98% of TP’s material! Buy your tickets now for the NEW MILLENIUM MINSTREL SHOW!

Tyler Perry keeps on making movies that address the issues that face minorities as well as reminds many of us of beloved relatives. Believe it or not, my grandmother was an exact duplicate of Madea. She was a real as it gets. In my opinion I don’t see how half Spike Lee’s movies are uplifting. In fact there’s rather depressing to me. He defintely is feeding the sterotypes with Jungle Fever, School Daze, She’s Got To Have It etc. The pot needs to shut the hell up. In these times black people need to be able to laugh. Sometimes we need a break from reality which is often times depressing.

Herein lies the problem! As black people, all we do is laugh as opposed to facing reality head on. If you don’t think movies like School Daze and Jungle Fever were enlightening then maybe the material was too advanced for you and you couldn’t retrieve the message. “She’s Gotta Have It” i’ll give you but he’ll get a pass from me on that one since he was brand new to the game. My point is TP doesn’t need Madea to tell a good story. One of my favorite Perry movies was “The Family That Preys” and there wasn’t one sighting of Madea in that movie. “Why did I Get Married” was another decent TP flick although I didn’t like the sequel as much but again….No Madea!

I ACTUALLY GOT UP AND WALKED OUT OF THE LAST TYLER PERRY MOVIE I SAW BECAUSE I WAS OFFENDED AND EMBARRASSED BY WHAT WAS DEPICTED ON THE SCREEN. I LIKE TO LAUGH AS MUCH AS THE NEXT PERSON BUT AFTER AWHILE THE BUFFOONERY AND CLOWN ACT JUST ISN’T FUNNY ANYMORE! I LIKE BOTH DIRECTORS BUT IF I HAD TO CHOOSE ONE OVER THE OTHER I’D HAVE TO CHOOSE SPIKE. HE JUST TELLS A BETTER STORY AND HIS MOVIES TEND TO BE A LITTLE MORE INSIGHTFUL THAN PERRY’S PRODUCTION. TYLER IS A LITTLE TO ONE DEMENSIONAL AND PREDICTABLE FOR ME AND HIS MATERIAL ISN’T FUNNY ANYMORE! YEAH, SPIKE’S HAD A FEW BOMBS BUT HIS TRACK RECORD IS A LITTLE BETTER THAN PERRY’S TO ME REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE BOX OFFICE RECEIPTS SAY! TYLER IS A TALENTED DUDE BUT C’MON…HOW MANY MORE TIMES ARE WE GONNA SEE THE WHITE WIG, GLASSES AND ATTITUDE. SEEMS TO ME LIKE HE SHOULD’VE OUTGROWN THAT AND MOVED ON TO SOMETHING ELSE. I GUESS IF PEOPLE CONTINUE TO WATCH HE’LL FEEL LIKE HE DOES’NT NEED TO CHANGE ANYTHING. PERSONALLY AFTER MY LAST EXPERIENCE I DON’T THINK ILL PAY TO SEE ANOTHER MADEA FLICK. I’LL WAIT FOR IT TO COME OUT ON CABLE!

I think that people need to stop hating on Tyler Perry, and show some love and respect for his accomplishments as an artist. It’s just something different than other artists. So get over it people!!!!!

Betty, anyone can draw a stick figure on a napkin and call it art.

  • marilyn

STOP IT it is only movies for entertainment i will see both of these men’s movies if they are good entertainment.

Tyler Perry movies are unreal and retarded. Honestly, I laugh reading these comments about how Black people can relate to them. So every Black woman starts out in an abusive relationship and gets saved by a rich smooth light skinned guy and a fat dude in drag? Get real. Not every black person is a damn Tyler Perry cliche. Just like Ludacris said in “Crash”- “Black women think in stereotypes”.

Hello frenids.I like this one. The reverse chronology is pretty cool. Was it inspired by any other song or story? For a bit of a melancholy lyric set the music had a surprisingly light beat to it. Again I liked that part of the song. Keep up the great work.Cheers, Reg

C’MON PEOPLE ……My People!!!! I mean both of these men are brilliant at what they do, instead of Spike Lee tearing Tyler down, think of what the two of them could do if they put those brilliant minds together!! Tyler knows that Lee has been in the game alot longer than he has, and gives him much respect for that but I think they both could learn alot from each other. Mainstream gets a kick out of this “divide and conquer” rift. Come together my brotha’s, pave the way and set good examples for future and upcoming young black men and women producers and artists out there. If we as a people don’t support one another, how can we expect others to do so!

of course like your website but you need to take a look at the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling issues and I in finding it very troublesome to inform the reality then again I will certainly come back again.
