It was a great night to be a beer-drinker or the kind of person who always loved watching the bloopers at the end of Smokey Read the full post.

'Saturday Night Live': Hosted by Gerard Butler and beer. Actually, mostly just by the beer.

The show has been the most consistently funny epi this season. So far. And yes, that’s saying a lot. It’s sad that as talented as Drew Barrymore is, she’s not live sketch show material as host a few wks ago. Her surname gets her through, even to this day. Anyway, GB was oretty good. The Wknd. Update Bill-Gerard shout out to Scotland/translation? Brilliant. Kenan’s “What’s Up With That?” as a gospel-tinged host on BET (if you’ve seen how crappy BET is nowada–hell, all the time…) was ridiculous, esp. w/ Sudeikis and Wiig poplocking. The “300″ Don’t Ask Don’t Tell: Unfunny. They need to make some cuts in characters and writers. It’s the ebb and flow of SNL. For five years, there’s success, followed by 5-10 ensuing years of miasma. Another Eddie Murph or Will F. will come again one day….Have patience, my Paduans.
Oops. Meant Seth-Gerard. My bad.
I say keep Bill Hader and Andy Samberg. Bobby Moynihan is actually decent too, so everyone else should be fired.
Bobby Moynihan is not funny, I think Wiig’s annoyance is rubbing off on him, but agree to keep Hader and use him in more sketches.
Gilly…. Gilllllyyy…
What a waste of my time.
Gilly!
Gilly is HORRIBLE!!! Another ANNOYING Wiig character.
I agree Kristen Wiig is getting downright ANNOYING. Please give her and I a break, and use a new female cast member. Is Jenny Slate being punished for dropping the F-bomb, hence no sketches? The ad executive sketch was not funny. Wiig’s Weekend Update appearance as the spontaneous orgasm sufferer was funny. I also did like What’s Up With That? but a gree would have liked to see Franco and Hader ineract with Kenan.
I thiought that this was the best Weekend Update without Amy that Seth has done. I loved the Scottish translation bit. I thought overall Megan Fox’s week was stronger but there were good moments – Beauty and the Beast in particular. And Sudekis dancing his anti-ABDC self into some kind of crazy dance high…
This has not been the best season so far, but it would be difficult to top last season due to the fact the elections are over. With that said, this last episode was hilarious, Wigg is a comedy goddess, Butler was amazing, and I LOVE GILLY even if she was not featured…she does remind me of oldschool snl. The BET sketch may not have been funny to you if you weren’t paying attention to Jason Sudeikis dancing in the background. My stomach hurt from laughing so hard.
Sounds like this was the best show if the season-Gerry was the only non regular, so some(a lot) of the credit should go to him. I cringed when I watched him trying to save that stupid sales pitch skit! Tha man has AMAZING talents-invite him back, let him be THE host, and turn him loose-he is a master of his craft!
I have to say, I’ve been watching this show for many years-used to laugh thru the whole thing. Not so much now…perhaps SNL has jumped the shark, and needs to fade quietly into the night. Or perhaps the definition of ‘humor’ has changed? Not sure what the problems are, but don’t let it die a horrible death-go out before you go down any further!
The Beauty and the Beast sketch was amazing. Butler had several good sketches and the news bit to his family in Scotland was great.
This was the worst SNL episode in recent memory. I knew we were in trouble from the get-go when they reprised the Rock Obama sketch. The whole show was painfully unfunny. I imagine Kristen Wiig wrote the ad agency skit, which is why she appeared in it.
i thought the 300 parody was funny….
